Things that are impossible to find but really shouldn't be.

I want an affordable hard back A3 notebook with lined paper that is thick enough to write on both sides. It needs a pen holder. Not too thick or thin and not spiral bound. Not ugly.
I've been looking for months and can I find one?!

What things are you searching for that really shouldn't be this hard to find?

@Ateka, you'll get the plant in a specialist nursery. Try J. Parkers

I only want a rough idea, to see how much stuff costs, but it's contact us for more information.
No, just give me a starting from, so I have a rough idea, I would like to know with out getting hassled to buy over the phone.

@Fallagain

An alternative Al holiday with TUI which meets my requirements. Maybe I’m being too particular 🤷🏻‍♀️
I thought it was just me being fussy. I’m looking for a Tui AI holiday with a decent hotel, ideally a suite (for me and two adult daughters), a good sized pool, on or near the beach and somewhere that isn’t in the middle of nowhere. Every time I think I have found one, the reviews are terrible.

@Ateka

Garlic chives, nowhere to be found. Anyone?
They grow wild in my garden amongst some gravel. Must be self sown
rbmilliner · 31/01/2022 19:01

@Fairyliz omg yes. What is it with the trades their whole attitude makes me want to cry. It's like there doing you a favour letting you pay them for the generally mediocre job they do - sorry bit of a rant at the end of a very long and painful renovation project

Dream topping and Glace cherries

Housemum · 31/01/2022 19:08

Plain black work skirts. Just a knee length black skirt (pockets would be even better). Had one from M&S a few years ago, started to look a bit tired - they only had flared ones or stretchy ones now! Ended up with a cheap school uniform skirt from the local school uniform shop but it's gone bobbly after 6 months. Tried the usuals before christmas - next, M&S, John Lewis - no luck

Housemum · 31/01/2022 19:09

And fitted sheets for a 2'6" bed from high street shops rather than hunting online. Particularly when the same high street shops sell 2'6" mattresses!

@Retired65

Dream topping and Glace cherries
Weirdly just been eating dream Topping! I got it from B&M.

@Echobelly

Sensibly-opening postal services.

When I am able to get anything that needs more than a stamp to a post office/parce shop: After 5pm weeknights, or at weekends.

When post offices and parcel shops are open: 8-5 weekdays, maybe with an afternoon off one day , 8-12 Saturday, shut Sunday.

Can we just have a postal service offering that is open until 8 or 9pm and all day at weekends for the love of God? We haven't been a nation of stay-at-home women who can pop to the shops anytime for decades, people aren't able to post stuff in working hours!

Can you use Royal Mail Click and Drop? So quick and easy*. I use it for all parcels now. Small ones can go in the letterbox, and there’s a parcel postbox in town, admittedly a bus ride or short drive away, but it’s ‘open’ 24/7. *you do need the wherewithal for weighing and measuring, and a glue stick for the label though.

Things in smaller packets for single people.

Yes! This is why limiting food waste is bloody hard for us! I try my best but there's nothing I can do about pack sizes for many things

Yes the adjustable waist ones are good but I’ve struggled to find them for older ages 10-11 recently

''Twas ever thus very annoying

Not just school clothes as I said dd is now struggling for work clothes!

if you want them to be long enough they’re just too baggy.

Yep!

@Sgtmajormummy noted re Sainsburys I'll pass info to dd

A normal white shirt for women. No silly frilly collar or cuffs. No ridiculous 1/2 or 3/4 length sleeves. Just a normal boring shirt that is long enough in the body. How hard can it be??

This is the problem when ALL the clothes shops try to be trendy as I said earlier - NO! Sometimes we need classic basics - jeans, black trousers, white shirts, white tee shirts, pencil skirts, shift dresses...

Murder finding basics now!!

Plain black work skirts.

See?! Not just me!

There are PLENTY of online and trendy clothes places for the young trendy ones, we older, busy, working, running around after dc/older parents people need quality or even cheap basics please!

Prices on websites

Yea places like this I don't bother with no listed prices = prob too expensive for what it is!

Oh and a fitted cotton sheet that will fit my king-size Hypnos mattress ( with a topper ) Fed up of mine coming off at one corner most nights

Roxy69 · 31/01/2022 19:37

Names of sheets etc on the tags. Can't tell you how many times I've bought sheets and hated them. I have one now, it's really good but I have no idea what it is now that I want to buy more. All it says is Dunelm. Aaargh.

Ericaequites · 31/01/2022 19:37

Why do tall women’s clothes only come in sizes s-xl? Tall women are generally larger, so why not tall plus sizes?

CrazyAllAroundMe · 31/01/2022 19:42

@ThreeRingCircus

Regarding toastie makers.....get yourself a panini press, I often use it to make cheese toasties and they've great, plus it's less sloping than a george foreman so less change of cheese spilling out.

I'm looking for a decent pillow that helps my aching neck and shoulders. I've tried all sorts.....tempur, shaped orthopaedic ones, thinner microfibre ones..... nothing has helped.

I not rtft from your post on but have you tried a bamboo pillow? My sis swears by them for neck pain.

Puffalicious · 31/01/2022 19:47

Decent silky modal/no VPL knickers with a high waist and high leg Sainsbury's. Brilliant underwear, don't buy them anywhere else now.

Puffalicious · 31/01/2022 19:48
@Puffalicious, does your dh cover s/W Yorkshire at all?
GrinSorry, no! He's also commercial, so doesn't do domestic. Fingers crossed you get someone.

Wilkos Egyptian cotton- fits our very deep superking mattress beautifully.
Puffalicious · 31/01/2022 19:55

Kanaloa Marks are really fabulous for these. DS2 and DS3 are both tall and skinny and they're easy to buy for in Marks.

Honey you need to buy end of June/July to get stock. They usually have 20% off then, so it makes good sense.

PP who said Sainsbury's slim, good shout: DS2 has a pair for school right now as one pair ripped and I couldn't get a Marks pair in size. Long leg is a great length.

Puffalicious · 31/01/2022 19:57

Graphista have you tried Uniqulo? Always great basics, good prices, decent quality, lots of colours.

LaPampa · 31/01/2022 20:39

Normal white shirts - try TM lewin type shirt makers.
Or Boden just has a plain white shirt.

DontKeepTheFaith · 31/01/2022 20:48

The best notebook on the planet, unless you are vegan is William Hannah. Cost a lot but you only buy the outer once and then just buy inserts. I love mine and it just looks better with age. I have the A5 one but they also do A6.

Gorgeous leather notebook

I can’t find really good thick thermal socks. I am still wearing the ones I liberated from DH shortly after we met 26 years ago🤣
