Heard a journalist on the radio the other day speculating it was not an accident and heard others saying the same. AIBU to think people like this are complete idiots?

@AskingQuestionsAllTheTime

All of which is long way from my original comment that most of us don't need fourteen million quid to not be in the royal family.

I'll be honest; my heart really does not bleed for someone with fourteen million quid to squander on such things as an eleven million quid house which stinks so much all the windows have to be kept shut when the wind blows up from the bird sanctuary.

I think that eleven million would have been better spent on charity, on the whole.

Oh for god's sake you are not factoring the security cost. Harry is a target of the far right, already two cases went to trial in the UK by shits who deem him a race traitor. He and Meghan still have hate driven nutters (mainly Windsor and Kate Middleton fans) who want to harm them, there was even talk amongst these shysters of stabbing Meghan in the stomach to prove she wasn't pregnant with Archie.

It is obvious you hate Harry and this is clouding you opinion of the cost of his leaving the Windsors.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 07/02/2022 19:57

No, I don't hate people I have never met any more than I love them. I just think that he is not badly-off financially, and that he presents himself in a way which makes him look a bit of an ass. Why not go back up the thread and see what I have actually said about him?

(And if he can't afford security, he also can't afford an eleven million quid house that he fell out of love with and started wanting to sell before they'd had it for as much as a year. That was simply silly.)

Ok I see that you swallow all the nonsense that the tabloids pull out of their arse about them.

The selling house info was fake news by a realtor in Montecito, and has been debunked but people who eat up the manure that tabloids put out would not know that, but then I don't expect anything then less stupid from tabloid readers.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 07/02/2022 21:51

You have the most amazing sight: not only can you see things about someone you have no idea about at all, you can also see things that don't exist.

I don't read tabloids, nor do I have a telly. The "smell makes the house unpleasant to be in" story was mentioned on BBC radio, quite recently.

I cannot see that "the house is in a place that smells so bad when the wind is from one quarter that they want to move" would be of much benefit to a realtor (which I had to look up; I call those "estate agents"); it seems rather unlikely that it would increase what that house, or any house near it, could be sold for, so I don't see why a realtor would be spreading the story -- unless there are rival realtors, and one is trying to spoil another's sales?

What possible motive would anyone have to murder the rather-charismatic but none-too-intelligent Diana? If she was ever a threat, by the time of her death she'd been well and truly neutralised. Charles's PR played a blinder in painting her as at best and exhibitionist and a neurotic; at worst, a raging psycho. And once a person - let's cut to the chase, a woman - has been tainted as mentally then her voice has been effectively removed and people will stop taking a word she says seriously. It's a tactic that's as old as the hills; a modern-day equivalent is Charlene of Monaco.

My guess is that if Diana had lived she'd have become an outcast and a bit of a laughing stock like Fergie. Even if she had had a child to a Muslim father, so what? She was divorced. She could do as she liked.

A lot of people had nothing to gain but a hell of a lot to lose by her death. She took on Windsor PR and lost, just as others have done since, because the system is too powerful and too effective to be bested by any one individual.

And why go to all that effort to stage an elaborate scene when a straightforward hit would have sufficed?

The truth is often the more boring explanation.

Not true. Now, maybe. But in 1997 that would have been a real, real problem.

No, it would have been no different from now. I remember when the possibility of murder was raised not long after and this motive was given, there was a general reaction of "Huh? Why would it matter?"

But in any event it's clear she was only ever having a bit of a fling with Fayed and had absolutely zero intention of marrying him or even getting into a long-term relationship, so the issue doesn't arise.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 16/11/2022 08:15

I don’t think that many people think she was murdered do they?

Not least because it was a rubbish way to do a murder, and depended on her sadly not wearing a seat belt.

i think the queen gave an internal sigh of relief and the royals in general as she was a loose cannon especially after the panorama interview. Her death was therefore convenient but I still think it was an accident. She was under a shoddy security team.

Given her lifestyle, helicopters, private jets, minefields in remote countries with different ways etc there a lot of ways an “accident” could have happened. As it was, no. But what some people belief beggars belief.

Wasting time on just another daft conspiracy theory about an over-privileged shopper. Makes me wonder whether people who believe this kind of rubbish should be allowed to vote.

You might be able to blame them for putting her into a situation where she made unwise choices, but that’s the extent of it I think. To briefly sum up a complicated situation.
