Going to an event, we were massively delayed in traffic getting to pils .They couldn't wait for us.
So when we arrived they were leaving and mil clocked our friend in pils old tux which dh had leant him, an old 80s thing.??

Dh served us done drinks by which point fil was calling dh saying if we didn't leave immediately we wouldn't get a space in the car park! When we got to the car park it was half empty.
Mil then questioned dh about the tux friend wearing as she felt it was actually fils old one and that was for dh not to give away.

@ButtockUp

Maybe try posting coherently?
Yes, please. Incomprehensible.
Hisanimalgrace · 28/01/2022 21:56

They didn't trust us in their house, not even for half an hour. We couldn't have a drink in peace! The car park was an excuse to pummel us out.
Yes we were late but it couldn't be helped.

I think this is a storm in a wine glass.

Best forgotten.

Sceptre86 · 28/01/2022 21:58

Maybe come back and rewrite the post when you are more coherent? On the face of it yabu and were rude. You can't control traffic but should have declined the polite offer of a drink, presumably you would get one at the venue or afterwards and just have left at the same time as pils. I wouldn't have wanted you in my house unattended either. As for the tux maybe they wanted it to be passed on to their own child due to sentiment, so were a bit annoyed to see someone else wearing it? You haven't made it clear if the friend was borrowing it for the event or if your dh had given it away.

I wouldn’t want you in my house if you were as drunk as you appear to be now.
pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 28/01/2022 21:58

@Hisanimalgrace

My post is about being Petty. Trying to oust us from the house, not leaving us in peace. Panicking about us being in their house for moments and trying to get us out then moaning about an old cast off sported by a friend she called "dreadful "
Erm, you said this happened weeks ago...

So posting about it now - surely that is being Petty 🤔

Bogofftosomewherehot · 28/01/2022 22:00

If anyone can translate that would be useful. Haven't got a clue what this is about.

00100001 · 28/01/2022 22:01

Why couldn't you have just driven straight to event and met them there when it was clear you were going to be late?

Why was there a need to drink at their house??

I think I'd worry about my wine supply and want you out too tbf
HeadToToesNo · 28/01/2022 22:01

Have a glass of water and try again?

SunnyLeaf · 28/01/2022 22:02

???

kitkatsky · 28/01/2022 22:03

Go home OP. You're drunk

Hisanimalgrace · 28/01/2022 22:05

Worried about the wine supply?

I guess it's not petty then Confused

NerrSnerr · 28/01/2022 22:07

Had you been drinking before you got to PIL's house? Were they actually worried that you'd turn up to the event wasted?

FurryAntiWaxer · 28/01/2022 22:09

To be frank, you sound unbelievably rude, entitled and oblivious to others. Imagine being late, then causing a further delay by demanding a drink.
I wouldn't want you alone in my house either. I'd expect to find you the next day, passed out in my kitchen, wearing my clothes.

Hisanimalgrace · 28/01/2022 22:09

If my dc turned up with lots of people I might wonder what they could get up too in half an hour but unless my dc go massively off the rails id like to think I could trust them in my house, at least for half an hour?

And the old tux was either I imagine headed for dh or a charity shop.

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 28/01/2022 22:10

You know we weren’t there? We don’t you know, you’re husband or your PIL. Just checking you know that you need to explain what happened coherently

Hisanimalgrace · 28/01/2022 22:10

Furry Grin.
I didn't demand a drink. Initially they said help yourselves to what's left.

I don't think there is a mate, a suit or an event. I think OP is sat on the toilet, head between her legs and PJs round ankles and still thinking it's Dec 2021. Every now and then she farts herself awake and types out more nonsense. Hic hic Grin

Hisanimalgrace · 28/01/2022 22:12

I am amazed posters couldn't cope with their adult dc in their house unattended for half an hour without supervision?

OP posts:
Inspectorslack · 28/01/2022 22:14

My adult dc are coherent.

Kinsters · 28/01/2022 22:16

Yabu. I'd be having kittens if someone was already late for an event and then decided to make themselves even later by stopping for a drink!

PixiKitKat · 28/01/2022 22:16

Old tux headed for DH or the charity shop?

So it wasn't DH's already? Did you all raid the in laws closet to get a suit for your friend??

It’s not your bloody house! I’d be a bit annoyed if my child turned up late at my house for an event we were all going to then wanted to be left there for a drink! YAB VVVU
covilha · 28/01/2022 22:18

Perhaps it wasn’t about the dc but the friend who accompanied you. I would not want a stranger in my house, if I was not there. As far as Tux goes, maybe they saw it more as an heirloom/ gift so insulted you passed it on xx
