Driving the wrong way down a one way street? (Diagram)

NC for this as I'm embarrassed if I'm driving the wrong way down a one way street every day.

The attached road sign is what the angry drivers see when I am coming the other way. They wind their windows down and yell at me that it's a one way street. This happens most days.

I think the sign means they need to turn left at the top of the street and the street itself isn't one way.

There isn't a no entry ⛔️ sign when I drive from my house and down this street.

AIBU to drive this way? I've been shouted and sworn at so many times I'm starting to think the sign must mean the street is one way.

Diagram also attached.

This is the view from the other direction (the way the angry drivers drive)

I can't see that last picture

dementedpixie · 26/01/2022 17:10

I dont see the last picture either. What are the road markings at the bit you enter the road?

DappledThings · 26/01/2022 17:11

No attachment on either of your posts at 17.09 that I can see. The photo before doesn't look like you should be driving down it in that direction but only a sign would say for sure.

Can you share the street view from these two positions? So a bit further back from your last one and from your house

Having looked the the picture I can see I am minded to change my mind - as I can't see any white lines/give way markings across the LHS of the road, where the woman is standing.

Nemorth · 26/01/2022 17:14

You can only turn left at the end of that road.

The road itself looks like a one-way road. I think you are driving the wrong way down a one way street.

It looks like an entire one way system.

greyspottedgoose · 26/01/2022 17:14

In your last picture, where the fiat 500 is, as you turn left around that corner is there a sign saying no entry into the "one way"road?

I think the one way is to tell people driving the opposite way to you when they get to the end they can only turn the one way, following the arrow

OneWayDriver · 26/01/2022 17:14

The entrance to the road from my house. There definitely isn't a no entry sign.

Still no picture I can see. As you've name changed anyway can you just share the link to Google maps?
carolsforxmas · 26/01/2022 17:15

It does look like it should be one way but presumably there should be some indication that you can only turn right when coming from your house?

SamphiretheStickerist · 26/01/2022 17:15

Not on either side of it? Then, you should be good to go, give way signs or no!

What does Google Maps say?

dementedpixie · 26/01/2022 17:18

If you go on the app there are more pictures

OneWayDriver · 26/01/2022 17:18

Google maps sends me down that street without a care in the world

What would a satnav tell you to do if you set a destination to it when leaving your house?

From the one photo that has appeared, I would say that yes it is a one-way street.

RustyBear · 26/01/2022 17:21

If you look up the area on Google Maps (default, non-satellite view) are there arrows on the road?

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 26/01/2022 17:21

Just cycle - then you can ignore all road signs.

Nemorth · 26/01/2022 17:21

The street is too narrow and has no road markings to be a two way street.

I'm pretty sure, especially with lots of other drivers telling you, that it is a one way street.

Sirzy · 26/01/2022 17:22

Other than from your house is there another route that wokld take you down that road? From your map I am guessing not.

From what we can see I would say your in the wrong

Tinysnickers · 26/01/2022 17:22

It seems unlikely that the road at the T junction is one way to the left, since there is a car pointing the opposite way in the photo.

Tinysnickers · 26/01/2022 17:24

Ah scrap that, I've just realised the turn left sign is for traffic going the other way

dementedpixie · 26/01/2022 17:25

I've copied the other pictures from the app. Doesnt look wide enough to be a 2 way street

Sat Nav also directs me down the 'one way street' away from my house. I have seen other cars do it too but there isn't a lot a traffic in that direction. Most cars would follow the one way signs at the top of my diagram which leads to a big car park.

gobbledygoook · 26/01/2022 17:27

Those update photos really look like it might be one way! Looks narrow, there's no lane division, there's no give way markings or anything to suggest it's two way to my mind - especially approaching from your end, there would be junction markings or something surely? It looks very confusing. Can you contact the local council about making it more obvious / better signage / to double check if it's actually one way!

wordler · 26/01/2022 17:28

That looks like a one-way street to me. I think you are going the wrong way.
