According to our leader it's all rhubarbHmm

Infantile answer to a serious question.

I expect nothing less from this idiot.

Alexandra as merrymouse says, nobody may be called a liar in the House of Commons. Dennis Skinner, the Beast of Bolsover, Labour MP for many years, once said 'half the Tory Party are liars'. Refused to apologise, banned for a day. Returned to HoC, 'are you ready to apologise?' "I apologise Mr Speaker. Half the Tory party are not liars". Exit Skinner, banned again.

Love this!!!

@DePfeffoff

Errors were made, lines were crossed but I'd rather their errors of judgement were over having a bit of birthday cake than say, not getting vaccines rolled out swiftly or not having freedom day in July

You really are determined to close your eyes to reality, aren't you, @JaniieJones? It was several errors of judgment over breaking a law promulgated by his own government, and an important law aimed at public safety at that. As a matter of law, the excuse "Look at all the other wonderful things I have done" simply doesn't wash.

And shall we have a think about the rest of the "errors"? Paterson, flat refurbishment, lying to the Queen, unlawful procurement contracts, care home deaths, those utterly shameful Covid death figures, PPE failures, etc etc etc.

Exactly.

Where do we draw the line?

To Marcus Rashford commits a crime that attracts FPN - such as speeding for example?

Does everyone reply "yeah but look what he did feeding millions of poverty stricken children during the pandemic"

Unlikely. They are different. You can't be excused doing bad just because you did good.

Most people follow the rules but don't particularly do massive good for the nation. They shouldn't be the only ones accountable for their actions.

DuncinToffee · 27/01/2022 20:05

Dawn Butler was kicked out of the chamber last July for refusing to withdraw her claim that the prime minister has "lied to the House and the country over and over again".

Has to read this a few times to see what point you were making.

But when I did ....... 🤣🤣🤣🤣👏👏

Piggywaspushed · 27/01/2022 20:50

That's brilliant!

SirChenjins · 27/01/2022 21:03

Mr Skinner - I salute you! 👏👏👏

longwayoff · 27/01/2022 21:05

Grin he was a one-off who set Tory teeth on edge. Bit like a male Angela RaynerGrin

Tealightsandd · 27/01/2022 21:14

Covid death figures, PPE failures, etc etc etc.

The ones who want him gone want higher Covid death (and disability) figures, and they certainly don't care about PPE.

Anyway. I vote for one of the doctors or scientists to replace him, if he goes. Christina Pagel would be good. Sir Chris Whitty or JVT too.

Alternatively, does the PM have to be British? Angela Merkel might be free.

Or how about Wales (peacefully) invades England? Mark Drakeford would do well in No.10.

Failing that, I'm happy with a real donkey 🐴 Better than a human, undoubtedly.

longwayoff · 27/01/2022 21:25

Frankly, I'd choose King Arthur Pendragon, the Great Druid over any of the shabby bunch on offer. I believe he can be found in a tepee in a field in Wales. He has no interest in interior design as far as I know.

She wasn't wrong though was she?

Plus the MP the speaker pulled, never said Bojo was a liar, he just told the 'House thats what his constituents were telling him... then there are the constant admonishments of ministers leaking to public and not announcing to the 'commons first but still they keep doing it.

DuncinToffee · 27/01/2022 21:35

No she was spot on. I think Starmer backed her up afterwards as well.

Isn't the original King Arthur meant to come back at our time of need? Perhaps he'll be coming soon 🤞
Alexandra2001 · 27/01/2022 21:45

Johnson thinks he is the solution to all our woes, the new Pendragon returned, problem is, around 34% of the electorate also think this :(

derxa · 27/01/2022 22:09

Christina Pagel 😂 We'd be in permanent lock down

Tealightsandd · 27/01/2022 22:20

Ah but no. We wouldn't have a need for lockdown, because proactive preventative infection control measures would be put in place.

There would of course (like seat belts, child seats, and speeding limits with cars) be mitigations (eg. NOT restrictions). Masks, vaccine passes, and good ventilation. So that we could genuinely live with a still new and evolving disease that kills and disables many.

Blossomtoes · 27/01/2022 22:51

So now there may be a U turn on the NI increase to bribe MPs. Thatcher must be revolving in her grave.

longwayoff · 27/01/2022 23:16

Interesting isn't it? I think Thatcher would have been apoplectic with Bozo and even Dennis might have felt inclined to biff him one. But then I remember Mark Thatcher so maybe not.

Tealightsandd · 27/01/2022 23:40

Thatcher was also a scientist. I suspect she would've understood the benefits of basic infection control mitigations. For the longer term economy, as well as lives and health - because of the significant minority of Long Covid newly disabled.

DuncinToffee · 27/01/2022 23:48

Despite the rhubarb, the Afghanistan animal story isn't going away

derxa · 27/01/2022 23:48

Pagel has no medical qualifications whatsoever

Tealightsandd · 27/01/2022 23:59

Ok swap Pagel out for one of the many virologists, immunologists, epidemiologists, or cardiologists.

How about Sir Chris Whitty.

borntobequiet · 28/01/2022 07:00

Christina Pagel has a great deal of relevant experience and expertise. It’s foolish and ignorant to suggest otherwise.

Christina Pagel (/ˈpɑːɡəl/ PAH-gəl) is a German-British mathematician and professor of operational research at University College London (UCL). She is the first female director of the Clinical Operational Research Unit (CORU)[1] at UCL, which applies operational research, data analysis and mathematical modelling to problems in health care. Pagel also holds an honorary researcher position within Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Sounds like an expert to me.
