Maybe I should try that.
Carob was a sad early eighties experience.

I think it says it all that the tub of Miniature Heroes we bought for Christmas is still sitting on. coffee table. In the past it would have been finished by Boxing Day but now they just aren't nice enough to eat. No chocolate flavour, just sugar and slime. And it's not just Cadbury's. A lot of M&S chocolates have palm oil now and the same goes for Thorntons.

Lindor and Hotel Chocolate are the nicest nowadays. And the Waitrose No. 1 brand - that's lovely.

The tub is just a ghost of Christmas past now. 😔
Next year I will get my own metal tin and out some pleasant edible sweets and chocolates in it.

@miltonj

Mondelez make milka which is still lovely. No palm oil either.
That’s interesting you like it. I think it tastes nothing like it used to do before sold off and I no longer like it
miltonj · 27/01/2022 15:18

@Zotter I'm not in the UK so maybe it's different here!

Can't even get Cadbury where I am, and I do miss it, even though it's not the same as it was.

Zotter · 27/01/2022 15:26

@miltonj, perhaps it is different where you are. Envy you if it still tastes like it did!

I miss the cheap and cheerful selection tims. They were an integral part of my childhood. I feel sad that I'll never have the pleasure of sampling them again coz of the palm oil Grin
I could swap them for an expensive selection box without palm oil but it would never do. I need to be able to spit out the impossibly hard toffees when nobody is looking and squish together a couple of raspberry filled creams and scoff them down within the same minute without wasting £s

I agree with Zotter re Milka - at least here in the UK (haven't bought it elsewhere for 20+ years, so unable to comment on that).
