@Hospedia

Know what one my friends did for her birthday that year? Died of covid at the age of 38.
There are no meaningful words I can think to say in response to that - I am just really sorry to read about the loss of your friend Sad Flowers
Blossomtoes · 24/01/2022 20:28

@TokyoDreaming

Oh for fucks sake.

Boris needs to fired into the sun from a cannon.

Brilliant 😂
BrightYellowDaffodil · 24/01/2022 20:28

@skodadoda that's a very interesting article, thanks for posting the link.

Alexandra2001 · 24/01/2022 20:29

@MarshaBradyo

It’s most likely Cummings revenge still

Good talk today on how he’s pretty much focussed on ousting him and will do whatever

Lol!

You seemingly defend BJ quite a lot but has it occurred to you that if BoJ0 had played by the rules he himself set, Cummings would have no ammunition to fire at him?

willstarttomorrow · 24/01/2022 20:29

And of course these leaks have been planned. Boris is not as clever as he thinks he is/ and or lazy. Je has allowed himself to have very powerful enemies. As much as people slag off Gordan Brown and Teresa May- they never put themselves in this position. Boris Johnson totally relied on Dominic Cummings to get elected and when first in government. He has no one but himself to blame in that he created a very powerful enemy.

LexMitior · 24/01/2022 20:30

Ha! The moment he was elected it was a wilful suspension of good chaps and in with the bad. It was willed, the Conservatives didn't really think what it would do to them. They can't even be disgusted because they don't know which is better, him or the public. Its like they are being gaslighted while the rest of the country are open mouthed at their credulity.

Jewel52 · 24/01/2022 20:30

YES, YES, Yes, and a public holiday declared so we can all watch Grin!
LexMitior · 24/01/2022 20:32

The last time we had a King who told us he had divine rights we chopped his head off.

Johnson fancies himself a king, I think. Might be apposite.

MarshaBradyo · 24/01/2022 20:32

Alexandra I don’t actually but I am interested in the mechanics of all this

It surprises me people aren’t. I don’t care really about Johnson but I do find it interesting what is going on behind the scenes.

I don’t see why the ‘lol’ it doesn’t have to all be wind them up and watch them go. It can be a discussion about politics and what’s behind it.

As I linked earlier I am more upset about the Bounce Back Loan fraud. That will cost us in real terms. And impact cost of living even more. So no it’s not just defence.

ConstanceL · 24/01/2022 20:33

Slightly off topic but I wonder how long Carrie will stick around once he is ousted from No 10.

JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil · 24/01/2022 20:34

Good talk today on how he’s pretty much focussed on ousting him and will do whatever @MarshaBradyo - is this a podcast? Would like to hear it.

Frollop · 24/01/2022 20:34

How can we get the ball rolling for the cannon and public holiday?GrinWine

LexMitior · 24/01/2022 20:34

About three minutes to judge from the lack of wedding ring and the handsome advisers who had to be at these parties

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/01/2022 20:35

I wouldn’t be remotely surprised if someone is waiting for Sue Gray’s report to say not much, waiting for Johnson to say “see, it’s all fine, nothing to see here, no rules were broken” and then playing a trump card

The thought had occurred to me, and it would also show these ridiculous "inquiries" up for what they are - as if we didn't know already

As for the written-off loans, in fairness fraud was always going to happen with a hastily organised scheme like this, but no doubt there've been a few nice backhanders out of it, which is after all the important thing for them

southeastdweller · 24/01/2022 20:35

Hopefully this will be the wake up call for many about why the government started and maintained the Fear Factor.

OhWhyNot · 24/01/2022 20:35

PaintYourDreams I agree with you

There absolutely will have been journalists who have known for some time about this and the other parties. And also this is a personal campaignfrom a man who wouldn’t go when he broke the rules

I don’t want Johnson as PM never have but I want this from the public or the party not led by the press and certainly not led by Dominic Cummings

All we have heard in the last month is he will have to go he will have to resign. Let the party pull together and put forward a leadership challenge

And Labour get on with planning on what they can do if they win the next election rather than I told you so speeches we keep getting

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 24/01/2022 20:37

Party of the sensible?

Good Lord.

The government is made up of a raggle taggle bunch of losers whose main reason for being there is loyalty to Johnson. That's it. No one of actual talent wants to be seen anywhere near him.

Colourmeclear · 24/01/2022 20:38

I bet the covid safe officer at my work feels really stupid now for taking away all the cutlery, tea and coffee, banning all communal food and only allowing one person in the break room to eat at any one time.

LexMitior · 24/01/2022 20:38

Hahaha - it will go on forever, like a terrible smell that he can't wash off.

He's finished because from now on he'll be there not to take the credit but to take the shit from his fellow Cabinet members. I mean, as if any of his policies will go anywhere now... I think not.

Yants · 24/01/2022 20:38

Even if there had been no pandemic and associated restrictions it's still staggering and disgusting how much time these people appear to have dedicated to drinks parties.

VioletOcean · 24/01/2022 20:39

That’s the entire 3 and half hours of GMB discussions tomorrow

FurbleSocks · 24/01/2022 20:39

@Attictroll me too. There's something extra awful about the potential fallout from this one.

PollyPepper · 24/01/2022 20:42

Why should they feel silly? At the time, during the original strain, it was pretty deadly and ripping through the vulnerable, killing 1000's a day. I hope that covid officer rests soundly and keep their head high knowing they did the right thing, unlike our own bloody prime minister.
Crikeyalmighty · 24/01/2022 20:42

@AutumnAlmanack. I don’t think so- I run a business , am not a rabid left winger either and wouldn’t give this bunch of egotistical, overpromoted berks the steam off my piss. Tony Blair and Gordon Brown were in a different league to this bunch and I have every faith that Sir Keir Starmer And current shadow cabinet would do a much better job too, although building things back post a ludicrous Brexit for any business that isn’t just a ‘local enterprise’ might not be so easy. I might not agree with everything they would propose but I doubt very much they would be a corrupt bunch of better spoken Del Boys. Just because people have city backgrounds or well off parentage doesn’t make them sensible. I worked in the city at one point and like this gvt- it’s easy to be gung ho with cash and contracts when it’s not your personal money you are spending.

I discovered Times radio the other day, I hadn’t listened before

It’s really good at looking behind the scenes of politics

I’ve not been that into all this before but just the mess of it and what must be going on is good to listen to
