@derxa

The Met are to investigate Partygate now.
They already have.
Peregrina · 25/01/2022 10:33

I would like to know who paid for all these parties, the organisers or a slush fund aka taxpayers? It sounds as though the amount spent on booze and cake could fund the £20 uplift for several years.

Could it have come from the £350 million a week that we supposedly sent to the EU, which we have now left?

AlecTrevelyan006 · 25/01/2022 10:34

Boris is going to be destroyed by the unnecessary lockdown restrictions he brought in. Of course people working together in the same offices for eighteen months are going to have occasional moments of social contact, whether that be bidding people farewell as they leave jobs or wishing them a happy birthday.

Only by criminalising normal human contact can you be brought down by it. A valuable lesson for any future PM as we will no doubt be here again in the future. A new virus will come along, or a new variant of Covid that people can get hysterical about.

@anonsattic

So correct me if I'm wrong. Cummings got caught out over the whole Barnard castle/poor eyesight debacle... they called for his sacking, but Boris wouldn't fire him. Because Cummings knew too much, about what was really going on with the rule breaking behind number 10? Cummings subsequently and eventually goes, and now the stories are being gradually leaked to the press. Is this right?
Yes. It was pretty obvious DC was going to destroy Boris. He's probably in his lair basement now stroking his white cat...

Just one other thought, then I'll bugger off and bake my practice birthday cake

Dominic Cummings isn't stabbing Boris in the back in the same way that Thatcher, Major, May received but in the front for all to see.
It makes a refreshing change.

DGRossetti · 25/01/2022 10:39

Boris is going to be destroyed by the unnecessary lockdown restrictions he brought in.

Necessary or not, it's his failure to follow his own fucking rules that is doing for him.

Don't try and let the racist misogynistic corrupt little shit off the hook by trying to deflect on whether the guidelines were necessary or not. That can be for the public inquiry if you like.

Mamamwmwma · 25/01/2022 10:39

A decent person would have resigned months ago.

DGRossetti · 25/01/2022 10:41

There's plenty of things a decent person would have done ahead of the blond turd.

Follow their own guidelines for a start.

Well, yes. But that isn't Boris, is it?

I wonder if anyone fancies standing in the next GE (or even the local elections) for the "Party Party" 🤔

Peregrina · 25/01/2022 10:43

I wonder just how many of Johnson's Cabinet will clear out of politics at the next election?

Pretty much, but with the added element that the power struggles between Dom and Carrie are pretty well-documented and that this is what ultimately did for him. Hence the particularly vindictive timing and the specific implication of Carrie in the birthday cake allegation.

Rishi doesn't really need the salary...
truthfullylying · 25/01/2022 10:45

I can't get over how much drinking there was and therefore how impaired their decision-making must have been at times, on top of the fact a lot of them are highly educated wallies anyway.

'The birghtest and best' Hmm

PermanentTemporary · 25/01/2022 10:49

I don't love dancing to Cummings tune, no. But who employed him?

Was that typo intentional?

If not, it was bloody perfect! 😂

truthfullylying · 25/01/2022 10:51

It was accidental, I always make more typos when outraged Grin

@DGRossetti You'll know this Smile

but I think it was Gove before Boris...

DGRossetti · 25/01/2022 10:51

I also notice the "remainer plot" narrative has gone quiet.

truthfullylying · 25/01/2022 10:52

I see the Met are finally going to investigate.

Politicians now saying he should be interviewed under caution Grin

the80sweregreat · 25/01/2022 10:54

Johnson Interviewed under caution ? OMG, no wonder Cressida Dick sounded properly fed up.
( they might have to do some work)
Oh my days., will it happen ?

No doubt that will delay the publication of Sue Gray's report. How convenient.
onlychildhamster · 25/01/2022 10:57

@pussycatunpickingcrossesagain I think he should stay awhile, but the incomer needs to have the tough job of tackling inflation and the energy crisis. we don't want a fresh faced PM to be up against Keir in the next election!

I have joined the tory party to vote for the candidate that Keir is most likely to defeat!

truthfullylying · 25/01/2022 11:01

Yes there will be a long delay now.

It is a hideous mess.

DGRossetti · 25/01/2022 11:02

The Met have already investigated and found no evidence of a crime.

Because that is what the outcome will be.

the80sweregreat · 25/01/2022 11:04

If the Met don't find anything , then will people believe it?
I think it's unlikely to be honest.
It'll drag on , that's for sure.

Trilley · 25/01/2022 11:04

Investigating the birthday party shouldn't take the police more than a day or so, given that Downing Street aren't denying any of it.
