To think this dessert was a bjt

We went to OH’s friend’s house last night for a meal. They went into the kitchen and brought out dessert. They had bitten the heads off hollow chocolate rabbits, filled them with Baileys, put squirty cream on top and were pretty pleased with themselves, let me tell you. I looked around for something else and they said that I’d reminded them that they’d forgotten something. I hoped it was a cheesecake but no, they came back with indoor sparklers which took a faff to light, then the cream melted and the sparklers melted the chocolate and I had a plate of mess.

OH and I are still confused about this. AIBU to think cheesecake would have been easier?

Rest nor rat please say it wasn't rat

PriamFarrl · 23/01/2022 13:46

@rooarsome

Will Op ever be back to clarify if the heads actually were bitten off?
Will they buggery. This is a classic drop and run.
NeverChange · 23/01/2022 13:57

Anyone else really hoping for some pictures of the teeth marks? Smile

aSofaNearYou · 23/01/2022 14:33

@Catflapkitkat

That is rank. I would have judges and thought less of them for that shocker.

What was the rat of the dinner like?

"Thought less of them"? Blimey, you wouldn't be a loss as a friend.

Sadly there will be no teeth marks. The biting was OP's exaggeration for effect 😆

@ChargingBuck

Tonight, I am treating pals to dinner at my gaff.

In a splendid tableside presentation, I will be biting the heads off live rabbits, flambee'ing them ostentatiously in baileys, sticking a sparkler up each fundament*, & serving on a bed of cream.

Would you care to join us, OP?

  • rabbit fundaments, not guests. Although who knows where the heady evening may take us?
I shall be doing something similar, although I shall invite my guests to bite off the head themselves for that interactive thing.

The starter will the a salad where I’ve licked all the leaves clean myself, and the main will be a surprise but suffice to say I shall have put blood, sweat and tears into it.

Don’t say I don’t make an effort.

Bjt is a typo as I started this thread with a bit of a hangover. Yes, there was alcohol.

I presume they bjt the heads off, how else would you do it? I assumed that using a knife would shatter the whole animal. I think they were rabbits. Bit hard to tell. Some unspecified hollow chocolate animal, definitely. The sparklers were pushed right down into the carcass so the sparkler melted a hole which the Bailey’s ran through.

I didn’t ask if there was anything else. I was discombobulated as we always have cheesecake.

@BrightYellowDaffodil don't forget the sand bucket for the sparklers.

Safety first.

StrangerThanSpring · 23/01/2022 15:20

I think if you heat the knife first it wouldn't shatter.

I feel your pain though, if you were looking forward to cheesecake and got that. It's a bit weird, but I'm thinking it might be fun to do a non-alcoholic kids version for Easter.

StrangerThanSpring · 23/01/2022 15:20

Very glad to hear Boris' balls weren't involved though.

Bwix · 23/01/2022 15:21

You should have made owl noises. That’d tell them.

JaneJeffer · 23/01/2022 15:24

Are they alcoholics?

Itsalmostanaccessory · 23/01/2022 15:27

@JaneJeffer

Are they alcoholics?
What?

Because they had baileys in a pudding? I've served kalua (sp?) on ice cream. Am I an alcoholic?

This has to be in the top for totally nutty comments on mumsnet. Baileys in a pudding = alcoholics. Unbelievable.

JaneJeffer · 23/01/2022 15:28

@Itsalmostanaccessory I was joking

MichaelAndEagle · 23/01/2022 15:30

Your first thought was they bit them off?? What?!

But did you actually noticably look around to see what else there was?

Be fair it is the kind of thing someone would say on here!

Tripptrott · 23/01/2022 15:33

It’s a serving suggestion from Joanna Lumley on the Bailey’s advert.

I bet Joanna is scoffing one right now.

Liveandlove91 · 23/01/2022 15:37

Smile this is hilarious 😂

MrsToothyBitch · 23/01/2022 15:44

Well I don't like cheesecake (at least, not the base) so I'd much rather have a baileys bunny. Surely they hadn't bitten the heads off! Sounds like you were a bit rude actually OP. Or at least a bit cheesecake centric.

Perhaps the hosts were bored of cheesecake? I'm quite tempted to try these now. Might see if I can get a hoarde of different Lindt mammals and use the South Park Christmas Critters for inspo. Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/01/2022 15:49

Gross.

Kittykat93 · 23/01/2022 15:50

They won't have bitten the heads off.

PriamFarrl · 23/01/2022 16:30

I presume they bjt the heads off, how else would you do it?

With a knife.
Why would you assume they bit them off.

WiddlinDiddlin · 23/01/2022 16:32

Heat a knife, use a sharp serrated knife - use a proper very sharp knife - all of these options are less likely to shatter the chocolate shape than biting fgs!

I can't believe that you are friends with these people and would leap to the conclusion they had bitten the heads off and then served you food that had been in their mouths?!
