To think this dessert was a bjt

We went to OH’s friend’s house last night for a meal. They went into the kitchen and brought out dessert. They had bitten the heads off hollow chocolate rabbits, filled them with Baileys, put squirty cream on top and were pretty pleased with themselves, let me tell you. I looked around for something else and they said that I’d reminded them that they’d forgotten something. I hoped it was a cheesecake but no, they came back with indoor sparklers which took a faff to light, then the cream melted and the sparklers melted the chocolate and I had a plate of mess.

OH and I are still confused about this. AIBU to think cheesecake would have been easier?

Yeah it’s from the Baileys advert, I fancied making them myself but then realised I couldn’t be arsed.

PMSL at all the sour faces on mumsnet this morning, I’ve read a few threads were posters are angry at other posters for fuck all, it’s hilarious! I’m laid on the sofa after shitting my guts up over night and mumsnet has kept me entertained for hours!

DogDramas · 23/01/2022 10:20

I’ve seen the advert as well.

I was polite and said it was fun.

They don’t do MN.

I think they probably just thought it was a bit of fun and didn't realise they were dealing with such joyless, egocentric guests.

DogDramas · 23/01/2022 10:21

And it’s a running joke that we/they always serve cheesecake.

Dishwashersaurous · 23/01/2022 10:23

Oh god someone actually did it. I thought you were just posting about the advert.

They clearly thought that they were being quirky and fun.

LadyEloise1 · 23/01/2022 10:23

Did they really bite the heads off instead of cutting them.
If so, that is gross.
We've all been wearing masks to help prevent infection and their saliva is ........

queenmeadhbh · 23/01/2022 10:23

Really enjoying OP being served a headless Baileys filled rabbit and looking wildly round the table for her actual dessert Grin

DoTheMerengue · 23/01/2022 10:23

I like Baileys. I like chocolate. I like cream. So all good. Sparkler sounds a bit much but hey ho.

toastofthetown · 23/01/2022 10:23

Regardless of what you think about what someone has served you, looking around for something else is incredibly rude. Either eat what you are offered or politely decline.

Luredbyapomegranate · 23/01/2022 10:24

@WomanStanleyWoman

Is this supposed to be funny?
Confused I think so..
Pikaso · 23/01/2022 10:24

Give over! 😂 I’m sure OP isn’t planning on going NC 😂
IHateWasps · 23/01/2022 10:28

Also how would the sparklers melt the chocolate like that? Sparklers aren’t hot enough to do that.

They can burn at 1000°C +. That isn't hot enough?

ThanksIGotItInMorrisons · 23/01/2022 10:30

I would have appreciated the effort. And I would have drank my baileys and eaten the chocolate. How rude to slate someone’s effort for making YOUR dinner and then posting about it on SM. your poor friends. I’d be gutted if my ‘friend’ did that to me.

greenlynx · 23/01/2022 10:33

I wouldn’t like this dessert I would prefer just chocolate and just Bailey separately (and it would be the dream ending for me) but it’s just my opinion. They probably wanted to serve something different as you joked about cheesecakes.

rc22 · 23/01/2022 10:34

The only part that worries me is that they bit the head off. Surely they broke or cut them off.

MichaelAndEagle · 23/01/2022 10:36

@Pedalpushers

I don't understand why you think there have been an alternative option of specifically cheesecake?

If someone serves you food and you start looking around for an imaginary cheesecake then you're pretty rude and quite odd tbh.

Yes this! Why specifically cheesecake?
MichaelAndEagle · 23/01/2022 10:37

Oh I see you've updated about why it would be cheesecake as an alternative.

LubaLuca · 23/01/2022 10:41

They didn't bite the ears off, you plum. I think I'd enjoy it anyway.

DrSbaitso · 23/01/2022 10:44

They BIT the heads off before serving them to you?

PeakyBlender · 23/01/2022 10:46

Did they bite the tops off? That's disgusting.

AutumnLeaves21 · 23/01/2022 10:47

😂😂😂 hilarious
I’d have enjoyed it 🤷🏼‍♀️ baileys, cream, chocolate…what’s not to like

ShowOfHands · 23/01/2022 10:49

Served food by a friend and then looked around for something different? How fucking rude.

Are you going for the popularity of the Pom Bears thread?

TrickyD · 23/01/2022 10:50

We are going to have lunch at a friend's today. I shall be very disappointed if this is not served, it sounds fabulous.

Whingasaurus · 23/01/2022 10:51

Sounds lush

AllTheColoursOfGerberas · 23/01/2022 10:52

Mmmm saliva infused chocolate

Dirty bastards
