To think Adele’s been shockingly unprofessional?

Adele was due to start a Las Vegas residency at Caesar’s Palace this weekend and cancelled the entire thing less than 24 hours ahead of time, saying they weren’t ready for a number of different reasons.

FIL had bought tickets to the opening night for himself and MIL as a 40th wedding anniversary present, they had pretty much just checked into their hotel when she announced it wasn’t going ahead, and the cost of that and their flights is now money down the drain. DH and I and BIL and SIL were planning on taking them away for a family weekend at Easter but have instead offered to pay for travel and accommodation when (if?) it gets rescheduled.

I get that covid is fucking a lot of things up for a lot of people, but surely they could have faced reality a bit sooner? Even one more day’s notice would have saved so many people taking flights and checking into hotel rooms that they could have rebooked or been refunded for.

Do U think #Adele firing her manager and making her new boyfriend her manager is a good idea? She’s been dating sports agent Rich Paul. This is what’s being reported.
From Perez Hilton.
Wonder if its true.

@SheldonesqueTheBstard

Or wait nearly 5 years and there will be a song about it.
Indeed, she has to create a lot of drama and misery so that she's got enough material to sing about for her next album.
SheldonesqueTheBstard · 26/01/2022 19:37

Waiting for 70

Lamenting piles, varicose veins, age spots, queues at the Post Office and the benefits of big slippers.

Againstmachine · 26/01/2022 22:04

*Whatever the reason, I think she's committed career suicide with this.

She's lost any credibility as an artist with it.*

Has she heck we will still have the fans queuing up. As said she's so middle of road boring it's unbelievable. It isn't that easy to kill your career these days you will have fans defending.

velvet24 · 26/01/2022 22:05

Cant stand her, she would have known ages ago, crocodile tears and all that !

AsYouWishButtercup · 26/01/2022 22:09

YANBU, she really gets on my wick lately. The crocodile tears over all this were unnecessary, totally unacceptable to cancel with such short notice and taking the piss to then be annoyed because people didn’t go “aw poor you we understand”.

She always seemed so down to earth, but it’s things like extortionate tickets prices and disallowing shuffling in her new album with Spotify/Apple because “my music should be listened to in a certain way”. Fuck off, no one cares about your album’s story, let people shuffle you absolute narcissist

AsYouWishButtercup · 26/01/2022 22:10

Then again, Adele to me has always been put in the “it’s baffling these mediocre people have done so we’ll pile” along with Ed Sheeran

Againstmachine · 26/01/2022 22:23

@asyouwishbuttercup

Me too I don't get it here and ed sheeran whilst not being bad are not anything special it's mediocre music, there is no excitement or flair it's just going through motions.

mugglenutmeg · 27/01/2022 07:01

She's done this before hasn't she? I remember friends of mine scrabbling for hotel & travel refunds after a last minute cancelled London show.

Very unreliable and unprofessional - I wouldn't risk booking a show of hers.

Oblomov22 · 27/01/2022 07:15

Agree that all this crocodile tears stuff is career damaging. I find her emotionally immature, quite unhinged.

TwentyFirstCenturyTricoteuse · 27/01/2022 07:36

Rich Paul! First name + surname or adjective + first name?

Blackbird2020 · 27/01/2022 08:41

She always seemed so down to earth

I wonder if that’s because of her strong cockney accent?

I wonder how things would have turned out if she had started her career as a thinner, RP English-speaking wannabe.

I think we’re all guilty of creating an idea of who Adele is based on her look/accent, when in reality she could be a rude narcissist, just one that has a cockney accent that’s worked hard to lose a lot of weight. We really don’t know…

BFPDec21 · 27/01/2022 09:27

I read that the set wasn't to her liking all along and not a last minute thing. Apparently the venue was ready to go so it was nothing with them and if they've pulled it out of the bag for others, why wouldn't they for Adele?

I can't believe there are people still waiting for another concert to be booked from 2017! Shock That should have taken priority to schedule in new dates, surely?

TootsAtOwls · 27/01/2022 10:16

Why on earth would you make your boyfriend of six months your manager? 🤯

The woman's an idiot. That's why. A total idiot.
draramallama · 27/01/2022 11:15

It sounds quite erratic and dysfunctional.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 27/01/2022 11:20

The only thing that will come from that will be a richer Paul.

Album fodder? She's like a singing version of Katie Price.

That decision has red flags all over it.

peaceanddove · 27/01/2022 14:01

@TootsAtOwls

Because you're not very good at thinking. And because you're insecure, so hope that making your boyfriend your manager will make him stay with you.
thecatsthecats · 27/01/2022 14:59

It's such a conflict of interest too, as he gets a cut out of her working.

So if she calls, mega distressed about performing, who is he? Her boyfriend or manager?

Blackbird2020 · 27/01/2022 17:22

@thecatsthecats
singing version of Katie Price

You nailed it Grin

Lampzade · 27/01/2022 17:35

I hope that she has not made her new boyfriend her manager. It is never a good idea to make your significant other your manager nine times out of ten it ends in disaster.
One notable exception was Cilla Black whose husband was her manager and was instrumental in making her a star.
Adele is already a star so doesn’t need the help of her new bloke.
He is a wealthy sports agent , but has no experience in the music industry.
The problem with Adele is that when she falls in love, she falls hard and all common sense goes out of the window.

BorderlineHappy · 29/01/2022 23:38

It seems shes cancelled The Brit Awards now.

crochetmonkey74 · 30/01/2022 00:20

I think she looks really sad in the Oprah interview

I don't think fame and living in America has been good to her

LouisRenault · 30/01/2022 00:38

But he was her manager before they were married. He didn't become her manager because he was her husband. And he was already established in the music business before he became her manager.
