To think Adele’s been shockingly unprofessional?

Adele was due to start a Las Vegas residency at Caesar’s Palace this weekend and cancelled the entire thing less than 24 hours ahead of time, saying they weren’t ready for a number of different reasons.

FIL had bought tickets to the opening night for himself and MIL as a 40th wedding anniversary present, they had pretty much just checked into their hotel when she announced it wasn’t going ahead, and the cost of that and their flights is now money down the drain. DH and I and BIL and SIL were planning on taking them away for a family weekend at Easter but have instead offered to pay for travel and accommodation when (if?) it gets rescheduled.

I get that covid is fucking a lot of things up for a lot of people, but surely they could have faced reality a bit sooner? Even one more day’s notice would have saved so many people taking flights and checking into hotel rooms that they could have rebooked or been refunded for.

Never liked her since her rant many years ago about having to pay tax. It's a bit like that other "national treasure" Cheryl whatever her surname is, who beat up someone in club toilets many years ago.

Perhaps the cancellation was unavoidable, but a heartfelt apology to the fans would have been more appropriate than self indulgent tears. I'm sure many people didn't go specifically to Las Vegas to see her, but did use it as one of the reasons to pick those dates for the trip, so it will be incredibly disappointing to them. I hope they get full refunds as a reschedule will be of little use to most.

Nearly 3 grand a ticket.

I wouldn't pay that to see ANY act.

Why so expensive? Adele is good and all, but not worth that much.

However, I should think anyone who can afford nearly 3 grand for a ticket to a singer's show, can afford to lose half a grand on a plane ticket and a hotel room.

Who the fuck spends that on a bloody show? Hard to feel sorry for them tbh. I'm not GLAD it's happened, but am struggling to feel sorry for them.

I agree with @Carrienova that the self indulgent faux devastation of hers is nauseating. Her minions will forgive her though. If I was a fan, this would end it for me.

Some say she has terrible anxiety when performing live. Don't do it then Adele. Don't promise people something like this, and then bail!

Very unprofessional ... as others have said there was no reason to cancel the whole residency unless the real issue is with Adele herself, voice, nerves, etc and she’s realised at the very last minute she hasn’t got what it takes to perform any more.

And so unfair all the people who have spent their hard earned cash and won’t get refunds on flights, accommodation and all the other things you have to arrange for a trip.

She clearly doesn’t think about her fans at all.

People should think twice about buying her music and listening to her on streaming services ... she doesn’t deserve any more cash from anyone!

I have to admit, I've gone right off her recently, I switch the radio off when she comes on and I'm not even sure why but her new song just sounds whiney to me.

Have you seen the Katy Perry documentary? Her marriage was crumbling and she got off a painful phone call with her then husband and she was sobbing as she stepped on the platform that would take her up onto the stage and she stiod tall and went up and sang her heart out to the people who’d come to see her.

Cancelling with 24 hrs notice for any reason other than singer has a medical problem? Not cool.

Also, Avril Lavigne - who seems to be disliked on here for some reason - had her grandmother die, and went on stage the same day to do a show.

One of the best and most memorable shows I went to was over 40 years ago. Just one bloke plus guitar. That person is extremely famous now and does very high tech shows with a band and lots of light and whizzbangs. That first concert was great though, and I would be happy to see something like that again.
I think she should refund the tickets and just do a simple singing performance.

Apparently Harry Styles has done similar. Has cancelled an entire tour and told his fans they can have priority tickets for the replacement one. Except that instead of 8 tour dates there are now only 3.

We had Harry Styles tickets (well DD) not only did he cancel, he postphoned before cancelling and his production company kept ticket monies for over a year. Only just refund now.

He still managed to play in America in that year.

I think this is appalling behavioir to be honest.

She's like someone at work that never shows up for presentations and drops you in the shit.

Why not just stand in the middle of the stage and sing? Explain it's not the show she had in mind but she didnt want to let fans down.

Yes, the simplest solution seems to be to offer a refund to people who were coming that weekend, do a stripped down set so their trip isn't wasted and never mind any of the fancy crap. Just have her singing, doesn't even have to be a full set, just a handful of songs so there's something.

Kate Bush hated doing live shows so much that there was a 35 year gap between tours. It didn’t do her reputation or career any harm. Adele is fast becoming a diva of gargantuan proportions.. this cancellation, the Australian interview, demanding a pizza from 70 miles away, excessive riders the list goes on. The main issue for me is why cancel all shows? This residency is until April. I can understand maybe the first few weeks, but not the whole thing. Makes no sense
