Would you be happy with this sleepover?

Dd is 12 and has been invited on a sleepover at a new friends house with 5 others. They are going to be staying in her friends parents holiday annex which is next door to the main house. This has made me feel a little uneasy but I am overprotective so wondering how others would feel.

I am interested that someone has said ask family if they have working smoke alarms, CCTV or ring doorbell- I am maybe negligent but I literally can not imagine asking someone these things when they kindly invite my daughter to stay

Me neither. Didn’t know you had to make all these enquiries, do you have to go into the house and do a full interview of all family members and risk assessment?

Please ensure all parents/elder siblings have DBS checks and maybe hire a private investigator to follow them the week beforehand Grin

It's not really any different from if they lived in an extremely large house. I think people here are conflating not being okay with sleepovers, and not being okay the the annexe. If you're fine with sleepovers (which I think you should be, assuming the parent isn't a heroin addict running a brothel) then I don't think the annexe thing makes any difference.

If they use it for a holiday let then it'll legally have to have smoke alarms and firedoors and all of that stuff, more so than a private house.

TinaYouFatLard · 21/01/2022 11:39

I would be okay with this. I understand some parents might not be happy with the annexe thing, but am pretty surprised that some won’t allow sleepovers at all! Poor kids - sleepovers are the best thing ever for 12/13 year old girls.

Does this annex have a kitchen ? Girls messing about unsupervised? .. seems like they might just be abit young and if it was mixed no way! A bunch of 12 year old boys in a house on their own recipe for disaster! X

12 year olds should be able to work their way around a kitchen.

Good job it's a thread about 12 year old girls then

@Joystir59

That would be a no from me. She is a child.
Do adults do sleepovers...? I thought they were usually for children.
