If we have to vote this year or the next, women who will not vote Labour due to the GRA raise your hand

It's not a single issue as PP have said. Voting for a party that says that men literally turn into women whenever they feel like it, and biological facts "should not be mentioned", and women who are concerned about vulnerable people in prisons, hospitals, rape crisis centres etc. being assaulted by male sex offenders are rights-hoarding dinosaurs etc. etc. is the equivalent of voting for the monster-raving loony party.

VelvetChairGirl · 20/01/2022 22:37

Not voting labour after they backstabbed corbyn and installed a tory shill.

I'm not a single issue voter. But I cannot in all conscience vote for a party who believes that my rights are less important than a man's. I will not - actually, I cannot vote for a party that does.

It makes me feel physically sick.

This will clarify everything re the hapless "Women's" Equality Party.

The Big Lie - how the WEP was always about gender rather than sex www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4058470-the-big-lie-how-the-wep-was-always-about-gender-rather-than-sex

PurplePeculiar · 20/01/2022 22:40

It's a deal-breaker for me. I voted Labour my whole life until they threw women's rights under the bus.

I remember their Q and As on here and how utterly despairing I felt afterwards about their shameful cowardice and woke-pandering

🙌 as Miley Cyrus says, I put my hands up you're playing my song!

YY. That Susan B Anthony statement is so powerful "No self respecting woman should wish or work for the success of a party that ignores her sex"

senua · 20/01/2022 22:45

@HermioneWeasley

Me - once these rights are gone we’ll never get them back
Women have only had rights for a blink of an eye (in historical terms) and men are desperate to erase them already. I'm not voting for any party that supports self-ID.

It's not a single issue. The GRA will seep into every aspect of our lives and erase women and girls. Our safety. Our dignity. Our biology.

@user1471453601

I've said this before, but I'll repeat it.

If you are interested in one issue, and one issue only, join a pressure group.

If you support most of what one party stands for, vote for them.

And yes, I know I've joined a thread where there is a great likelihood I'll get slaughtered. What I say is still true.

I hope you don't get 'slaughtered', surely we can discuss political issues without it coming to aggressive arguments?

I don't see this as 'one issue' - women have many rights that need protected, and children also need protected from what I think is a dangerous ideology.

Also, and maybe even more importantly, I can't vote for a party that can support absurdity. Yes, differences of opinion on various issues, but to suggest that we can't say 'only women have a cervix' suggests a level of delusion I just cannot accept.

I voted for labour last time. I don't see how I can do so again, with the current state of play.

FriedasCarLoad · 20/01/2022 23:00

I find it hard to see self-ID being reversed once it's allowed. I'll pretty much vote for whichever major party will keep women's safe spaces.

TheRealShedSadie · 20/01/2022 23:01

No

And flor me it’s not a single issue. No matter what your stance on self id. Their lack of ability to think critically about this, and the direspect shown to those that have tried to reason with them, speaks volumes about their ability to discuss and resolve ANY complex issue.

MrsMcGarry · 20/01/2022 23:03

I was at an election count in 2019 monitoring spoiled ballot papers. I’m in an area where GC’s like to think they are strong - there have been public meetings and some prominent GC commentators live here.

I saw more ballot papers that had Tony Blair as a right in than I did ones with Gc slogans on them. You like to think you are part of a huge uprising that will scare political parties, but really, you are just a small bunch of very loud and online people, deluding yourselves over your power.

Are you referring to the GRA put in place by the Tories involving Penny TWAW Mordaunt? The Tory party that's been in power for over a decade? The same Tory party that believes misogyny happens to men and women? Stoking the right wing culture war moral panic just to get your vote so they can impoverish more women and children while you spoil your ballots and pat each other on the back while vulnerable people starve to death and lose the public services that they depend on, MN Parler with pearls, catch yourselves on
