As above

I am no longer a member of the party because of this and I will not vote for them.

Probably will vote green, but that's essentially a spoiled ballot in my constituency

PearPickingPorky · 21/01/2022 22:40

@Vargas

My female Labour MP won't get my vote. She doesn't know what a woman is and she's a doctor FFS.
She does know. She knows exactly what a woman is because what she actually means is that women should give men everything they want.
ecoanxiety · 21/01/2022 23:25

@ilovesooty

And don't forget the current government has decided that misogyny is not a hate crime.
Also actively encouraged
NotBadConsidering · 21/01/2022 23:35

And it Labour get into power and make misogyny a hate crime, a woman saying transwomen are not women would be guilty of misogyny, because it would be hateful towards women, because according to Labour, transwomen are women. Why is that better?

littleburn · 21/01/2022 23:54

Another life-long Labour voter who's now left the party and is politically homeless.

I'm sure the leadership do know what a woman is - how could they not? - but are more than willing to sell us down the river than face down the Twitter hate mob. Absolute snivelling fucking cowards who view women's rights as disposable.

It's an issue for women in the US too - thread from Kara Dansky quoting a letter she has received

This is something I don't understand how can gc feminists cozy up to the right wing so comfortably, the republican party in the case of Kara dandy, this is the party in the US that would deny women bodily autonomy when it comes to abortion, I just can't square that circle, how such a hard won legal right can be so easily sacrificed by those that profess to be standing up for women's rights

Completely agree, and same

Clymene · 22/01/2022 00:40

Her name is Kara Dansky and she's not 'cosying up to the right'. She's reproduced a letter from woman who feels politically homeless.

Are you incapable of engaging with the content? It's like having a conversation with teenagers Confused

manseymoo1987 · 22/01/2022 00:42

Can't technically vote for Labour as I live in NI but wouldn't anyway because of their anti female propaganda

TRA cheat sheet.

  • Deliberate misunderstanding of the issue and refusal to engage with the very clear concerns that women have.

(Just marking off my bingo card. You carry on Smile)

EeeICouldRipATissue · 22/01/2022 00:57

TRA cheat sheet
This was trotted out earlier as well to another comment.
Why?
It's just like a dismissal to anything people don't want to hear.
It's a valid point.
A lot of GC views ARE in line with far right views.
Why not think about it instead of just blindly dismissing?

AKASammyScrounge · 22/01/2022 01:05

I won't vote for them - they have big ideas about forcing trans ideology on is. No thanks.

NotBadConsidering · 22/01/2022 01:11

A lot of GC views ARE in line with far right views. Why not think about it instead of just blindly dismissing?

Because the views are not “in line”, people agree on GC views across the political spectrum in the same way people agree that water is wet irrespective of their political leanings. Agreeing with the Right on one thing does not mean you are “in line” with everything else they say. It’s that inability to reach bipartisan agreement on topics that causes a good deal of the problems we have. That it is the Right side of politics who are taking the protective lead on this issue and winning support is a problem for the Left side of politics to address, not those who agree to feel guilty about.

MrBlobbyLivesNextDoor · 22/01/2022 01:11

So women's concerns about the erosion of their words, rights and safeguards are far right? Despite the fact that many of the women here have been life long labour supporters. Have you ever stopped to consider, in a landscape of political parties that are all pretty shit, that women are going to vote for the one that has at least some of their interests at heart, rather than none of them?

Cheat sheet in action again. You're here often enough. You know the reasons why women can't support parties that support the erasure of women. But you refuse to engage. And you refuse to think about it. Because you're not here to engage and actually discuss it. Because women's very valid concerns don't concern you.

It would be nice to see you engage properly for once. But you only have your trope cheat sheet to hand and it seems you can't deviate from the narrative.

The ✅ thing is oh so clever

I never said otherwise?

You said:

What do you mean by a lot?

It’s just not true, it’s the wrong way round. A lot of people - left wing, right wing, centre, centre left, centre right, far right, far left - believe it’s not possible to change sex and that transwomen are not women. The fact that it’s only the Right (and the Communists FWIW) who take this as a political stance does not make the “GC View” a right far right view. It does not make people who agree with this view “in line” with the far right on “a lot” of things.

Owlink · 22/01/2022 01:58
