To think that Angela Rayner could be PM one day.

I just think she's a breath of fresh air. She's real and authentic, she's come from a poor upbringing. She was her mums carer age 9, was a teenager mum, worked in social care and worked her way up the ladder. I just find it amazing that she's achieved all of this from how her life started. If she was running for PM and the next general election I will definitely be voting for her.

@AtillatheHun why are they ALL such hypocrites? I’m sick of the lot of them, such a dearth of integrity in our political system. She’s got some neck, shouting so loudly about Matt Hancock (which, I agree, was grim) whilst carrying on herself? She’s no better than Boris!

@lljkk

I like Raynor a lot. She'll never be PM. Is she the next incarnation of Dennis Skinner, maybe.

I like Lisa Nandy too!

No.

Dennis Skinner had way more about him

Buildingthefuture · 23/01/2022 16:26

@AtillatheHun Christ, really??? I’m sorry, that’s awful Angry

ShinyHappyPoster · 23/01/2022 16:31

She's been a young carer and a young mum yet she still pretends she doesn't know what a woman is. If someone will deny basic logic for brownie points then there's no way to know what else they will 'pretend' for power.

Nanny0gg · 23/01/2022 16:34

@Darbs76

Because she’s working class and northern people assume she’s not bright enough
Nonsense!

She makes it clear she isn't!

And whilst I'm no fan of the current govt I do think it's not a bad thing if the PM has a first class education and as far as I recall, most former PMs (inc Labour) are Oxbridge or attended top Scottish unis. Look at Harold Wilson or George Brown.

She hasn't the intellect to hold her own with other world leaders. Street smarts aren't enough

Nanny0gg · 23/01/2022 16:36

@maddy68

I agree. She's a refreshing change I rather like the way her mouth runs away with too.
Yep. That's a plus when meeting Putin...
sst1234 · 23/01/2022 16:39

Being working class doesn’t mean being thick. Which is what she is. Thick and loud mouth. The latest stunt which is all over the papers shows she is a hypocrite as well as a bit dense. No working class woman needs her as a role model. Let a raise out standards a little.

Cheekypeach · 23/01/2022 16:44

Hope not, she doesn’t come across as very bright (and that’s nothing to do with her accent or background before anyone starts).

the80sweregreat · 23/01/2022 16:46

Her new boyfriend, Sam Tarry MP , was married and now both have split up from their previous partners. The Mail on Sunday today had described her as living in a ' taxpayer funded home ' which puzzled me a bit ? Is that a council home ?
She'll never make it to Labour leader now , the horror of breaking up a marriage or leaving her husband , you would never hear of other PMs doing this eh? . Oh , hang on. ..oh .
She'll never get a decent enough press to a be leader or a PM, the double standards would always be there because she is a woman with a past.

AtillatheHun · 23/01/2022 16:50

taxpayer funded = her london place paid for by expenses

Cheekypeach · 23/01/2022 16:51

Looks like she left her husband for her colleague, despite the fact her husband stepped back from his career to support her career and care for their children.

Why isn’t she getting the same savaging Matt Hancock had on here? 🤔

the80sweregreat · 23/01/2022 16:53

Is AR the only one who has a taxpayer funded place then ? I've never seen any other MP described as having one of these ?
See, they are already putting the boot into her when they all probably have one I bet !
What is Chequers if not taxpayer funded ?

the80sweregreat · 23/01/2022 16:55

Matt Hancock was conducting his affair at work when he was meant to be overseeing a pandemic , slightly different to this, but I take the point that it's not the big news that was and still sad for all involved no doubt as all break ups are.

Slinkymalinky03 · 23/01/2022 16:57

Coarse, aggressive, vulgar and ignorant, she is a divisive class warrior and a stain on the House of Commons. The 'many people' whose lives she allegedly understands are a small and unrepresentative minority whose concerns are already well looked after by others more sensible and mature.

Beautifully put. Angela Rayner has no place on a global stage.

She absolutely should be.

Does anyone else ever look at the bunch of clowns that run our country and think shit, is this the best we can do?

AtillatheHun · 23/01/2022 17:07

@the80's Angela Rayner was conducting her affair while Tarry - also an MP - was managing her campaign to run for deputy leader. So also at work.

the80sweregreat · 23/01/2022 17:11

Oh ok, I didn't realize this about AR and Tarry

Buildingthefuture · 23/01/2022 17:13

@the80sweregreat Sam Tarry was running her campaign to be Deputy Leader…..quite a big thing politically I’d say. And very significant to her husband and his wife and all the children involved. Which she very conveniently just ignored whilst shouting and balling about the (equally disappointing) Mr Hancock? They are ALL the same!

Legoninjago1 · 23/01/2022 17:19

She comes across as very inexperienced and sometimes quite silly to me. Maybe she'd be ready one day but she certainly is not ready now. The chip on the shoulder needs to be managed better too.

vipersputpaidtomylastusername · 23/01/2022 17:38

For the love of God I hope not.
Thick. As. Mince.

Quite honestly, who’d want to be a politician in this country.

Every newspaper, Internet forum, television so called ‘comedy’ shows are full of really vicious character assassinations, criticism of everything from where they went to school to every aspect of their appearance, their accents etc.
Any mistakes are greeted with gloating and glee and even when they suffer family tragedies there will be awful, tasteless comments.

Also the pay isn’t as good as jobs in finance and other careers.

I don’t blame people for not wanting to work in politics.

XingMing · 23/01/2022 17:56

Not quite as thick as Diane Abbott, but close. Much better hair though.

Why does the Labour Party, in particular, think that anyone with a brain would vote for the person very similar to the person living next door with a loud mouth and no self-control?

Diane Abbott is a very experienced MP, shadow minister and a Cambridge graduate!

Her vilification is appalling no matter what your politics.
