I know he'll be replaced by someone equally awful and I know he's not quite gone yet, but I can't remember when I felt uplifted about politics and the ejection of this national embarrassment is warming my cockles. Anyone else feel the same?

'Yes, I concede that the procurement of vaccines and speed of rollout was great, however, this was almost a year ago he’s draining the last drop out of that tanker and diminishing his own achievement by using them so cheaply.'

The eating and drinking whilst at work was May 2020. So either historical stuff is relevant or it isn't.

Blossomtoes · 19/01/2022 13:34

“In the name of God, go” - David Davies, former Brexit secretary. That’s huge.

Come on, even you must know that’s pathetic. Even BJ can’t pull off that kind of school child attempt at deflection.

I’m not going to insult you and explain the difference in depth except to say that if we had known about Downing Street at the time I doubt public reaction would have been much different.

'whataboutery- the currently most overused rebuke
used by those clutching at straws!

Equally, it is hardly whataboutery to ask why the Labour Party have done nothing to provide a voice for those most affected by these austerity measures. I said over the last 10 years which is probably something they should look at if they have a hope in hell of winning an election again! Oh and I think Keir was one of 184 Labour MPs that didn't vote against Torie's cuts in the Welfare reform and Work Bill. But I suppose that was 2015 so not really relevant?

Bizarre you think I'm a Tory and Boris supporter just because I don't think Labour are doing well enough at being the Opposition, perhaps they should take note if they want to win votes as I think you'll find im not in a minority!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 19/01/2022 13:41

One of the Blue Wall Mo has just defected tonLabour as he says the government aren’t addressing the cost of living.

So true

Francescaisstressed · 19/01/2022 13:43

Boris Johnson laughing in the Pmqs today just shows his apology of last week was completely for show. The man is a liar, I can't see why anyone would want him running our country regardless of what party they vote for.

Cornettoninja · 19/01/2022 13:46

I wouldn’t want him running a tap tbh.

I’m baffled by those who are calling for this to be glossed over so he can get on with running the country. He’s admitted he’s lied and/or couldn’t comprehend rules mandated by his own government. What on earth about him makes people think he’s capable of anything else?

Slingingcontest · 19/01/2022 13:47

@Dumblebum

Boris will go in his own time and not a moment before. I really think it’s too early for people to gloat. This is just standard politics playing out
Yes, it's not a done deal yet ... he is determined to hang on sadly ...he doesn't do shame or embarrassment or take responsibility for anything!

I can see that you wish that was true, but neither MPs nor the electorate have any obligation to assess things in that way. There isn't some blanket rule that things are either relevant after a certain point or they aren't. People get to choose. Additionally, for all that the parties were nearly 2 years ago, the news of them isn't. It's still pretty fresh, in a way the rollout isn't.

Of course what the public thinks is of no matter to him, he doesn't give a toss.

What matters is if the balance tips to his party seeing him as an electoral liability, and there is hope of that point being reached soon.

AdamRyan · 19/01/2022 14:10

You sound like a man caught out about an affair he had years ago Hmm
It might be historical to those who were there, but we (the voting public) only just found out about it so its current to us.
And no, a BYOB invite to 100 people to enjoy the garden after working hard is not remotely the same as a takeaway pizza and bottle of beer shared by a small team in a break at work.
Honestly. Either you are yourself quite unfamiliar with the world and fooled by the government's ridiculously lame excuses, or you work for the government comms team and think we are stupid.

Hoppinggreen · 19/01/2022 14:25

@PearPickingPorky

My DD has worked with Trans people, most don't even go out side without being at risk of being beaten half to death (many have been) until 2019

WTF Confused

Are you talking about the wrong country? Because this doesn't happen in the UK. I don't think it's ever happened in the UK, in fact. There have been a handful of murders of trans people in the last decade and I don't think any of them were attacks in the street because they were trans.

Exactly Where does this happen? There are plenty at DDs college who seem to have made it outside and survived I don’t have the stats to hand but I believe that TW are more likely to be perpetrators than victims of violence. Mind you, if TW crimes are recorded as Women’s crimes it’s hard to really know
Thatldo · 19/01/2022 14:31

I am sure if that lovely man falls,the MN ters will help him stand up again.

Lolamento · 19/01/2022 14:36

I just spoken to my friend in Austria the bastards lefties there will charge 600 euros quarterly to the unvaccinated. People are ridiculous here with the moaning.

Lolamento · 19/01/2022 14:39

www.bloombergquint.com/politics/austria-to-start-fines-for-unvaccinated-in-march-nehammer-says

Now that is a disgrace. I had my vaccines but do not agree with the way they are dividing society.

Lolamento · 19/01/2022 14:40

So Boris anytime if you ask me.

CHIRIBAYA · 19/01/2022 14:50

No, the whole thing is just depressing. This lack of integrity and moral fibre was perfetly acceptable while he was 'getting Brexit done' but now MP's have started loosing their seats it's a different matter. It's all about self -preservation and self-interest rather than what our elected representatives should be doing which is acting in OUR best interests. Don't even want to think about who might replace him; be careful what you wish for.

Freddiefox · 19/01/2022 14:54

@Blessex

Sadly I will have to vote Tory at the next election despite never voting for them before because every other party is intent in throwing women and girls under a bus. Until Labour and the Lib Dens get their act together on gender ideology I will be forced to vote Tory. It’s a sad state of affairs.
And yet Boris voted against misogyny being a hate crime
ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 19/01/2022 14:56

@JaniieJones

'It’s a running joke that his answer to everything is ‘vaccines!’.'

Well, in a pandemic I do agree that the fastest rollout of vaccines thus protecting the nation is far more important and relevant than work colleagues getting takeaways and drinking which the media call 'parties' when it's the Tories but 'work' when it's Labour.

And the fact our excess deaths per million are 60% higher than France and Germany is much more important still.

He needs to go because he lied.
He needs to go because he's incompetent
He needs to go because he has blood on his hands.

@Goldenbear Are those most affected by austerity, also the most affected by the massive rises in fuel costs?

Are you aware that the Labour proposed a freeze on VAT on fuel for the next year last week, which didn't get passed because the Tories voted against it?

jgw1 · 19/01/2022 15:07

Which of Big Dog's troupe was it that thought that we should be talking about misogyny of women being mean to men?

SueSaid · 19/01/2022 15:10

It's been reported (Sky news so maybe take it with a pinch of salt) some MPs withdrawing their votes of no confidence after Johnson's storming performance in PMQs.

The inquiry will find if he lied.
He isn't incompetent, did you watch PMQs if so you'd have heard we are coming out of the pandemic in a strong position.
It was a pandemic, people sadly died. Deaths per million (2200) not much different to many other countries inc Italy Spain and France www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

Presumably that was the purpose of the Bury South MPs defection today. Good theatre, but what it will have done is unite the Tory party against him instead of against Boris.

The consensus seems to be that the longer Boris clings on then the weaker the Tories get, so if what you say about letters is correct then that is good news indeed.
