My husband and I were talking about this over dinner and I'm genuinely interested in people's answers (not looking to wind anyone up).

Personally, I despise Borris but ATLEAST He's kept the UK on the road to recovery and the economy growing, helped the property market etc. And also delivered us out of brexit. Despite covid.

He’s created a massive housing crisis. I work in an allied area and currently homeless / in temporary housing we have single parents with cancer, and working parents faced with losing jobs and school places because their tenancy is ending and they can’t find suitable housing. It’s shit and it is on this government’s watch. People who are on the property ladder have little resilience now to weather problems like redundancy because housing is so expensive and they burn through savings and fall into debt so quickly.

The disordered Brexit we were delivered has actively damaged businesses.

And the economy isn’t on the road to recovery. Because the government did nothing about ensuring our energy security, we are faced with massive hikes in bills. Food bank use is at a record high. Consumers are already reining in their spending due to the cost of living crisis. We are due another huge recession.

They have totally mismanaged COVID, especially in the beginning. Locking down quickly at the start would have made lockdowns much shorter and less damaging to the economy, and more lives would have been saved.

lightisnotwhite · 22/01/2022 21:04

He’s created a massive housing crisis I’d agree it was Conservatives but it wasn’t BJ. It will also be very difficult to vote in a government to do something about it, people buying all the cheap houses as “ portfolios” to rent our and fund their wealth further. Building houses is pointless if they just get snapped up and rented out at vast mark up.

It really wasn’t this governments fault there was an energy crisis. Hopefully the green agenda for future governments means this becomes less of an issue. Interesting timing that it happened when it’s globally recognised climate change has become crucial

I’m not sure the country was ready for a lockdown any earlier frankly. There was a lot of nonchalance all round and given we aren’t a police state it would have been difficult to do without the public on side. Anyway hindsight is a wonderful thing. Many bits such as furlough and self employment payments were very efficiently done. They were crucial.

I look forward to future Labour governments sorting the care sector, housing and energy crisis. More likely they will just blame Boris everything and make no difference whatsoever.

@Pinkrose1111

It's not so much about voting tory, but more about NEVER voting labour. Labour left this country in a right mess. Half the country on benefits, overspending, left a HUGE deficit, funded pointless wars in the middle east because the US said so. And in the last election I thought okay maybe they'll redeem themselves, let's see what they want to do,

but then rather than have some good policies to actually help improve the economy, do something about the rising cost of living, and peoples salaries not rising in-line etc. they insisted on raising taxes for the middle-class (as if we aren't already squeezed enough, middle class IS NOT RICH), abolishing private schools (ridiculous as if that would fix the state school system). Abolishing right to buy, (actually removing the chance for people living in poverty/working class to get themselves out of poverty, by getting themselves on the housing ladder) Having a second vote on brexit (I didn't vote brexit, but even I can admit a second vote would of been stupid and would of have caused wayyy more problems, rather than just focusing on a post-brexit deal) and also insisted that men who say they're woman are so, so should be allowed on all-female candidate shortlists.

Personally, I despise Borris but ATLEAST He's kept the UK on the road to recovery and the economy growing, helped the property market etc. And also delivered us out of brexit. Despite covid.

In an ideal world I wouldn't vote tory OR labour. Because they'd be a perfect 3rd option. But out of the 2 Tory everytime by default. Because labour just isn't an option.

I’ve never read so much deluded rubbish in my life. It’s scary that people with this level of knowledge are allowed to vote.

It’s scary that people with this level of knowledge are allowed to vote.

I'm sure I have seen that in a history book at some point. Or an episode of Blackadder Grin

DGRossetti · 23/01/2022 11:16

It’s scary that people with this level of knowledge are allowed to vote.

We know that 30% don't.

Sillysop92 · 23/01/2022 11:22

Good God no way. I will as usual vote tactically to try and ensure no Tory majority in Parliament. If nothing else it will help reduce the incumbent’s majority and remind them that not everyone in the constituency votes blue. So I’ll vote Lib Dem or Labour or Green. #StopBoris

PoshWatchShitShoes · 24/01/2022 19:28

Yes, I vote conservative. I don't like Boris though, but there's no alternative until he's booted out and a new party leader is chosen.

TooBigForMyBoots · 25/01/2022 02:34

And also delivered us out of brexit.

We aren't out of Brexit. Not by a long shot. PM Johnson brought Brexit upon us.

DePfeffoff · 26/01/2022 01:40

Every day that the Conservatives leave Johnson in power is another nail in their coffin, so far as I'm concerned.

Nat6999 · 26/01/2022 01:48

I have never & would never vote Conservative, I'm a lifelong Labour voters because I have a brilliant MP. Anyone who votes Conservative needs to take a long hard look at themselves & feel ashamed for voting in this bunch of robbers led by an idiotic clown who wouldn't know the truth if it bit him on the bum.

WorstXmasEver · 26/01/2022 02:05

I was a huge fan of Boris, especially when he sorted brexit as much as possible...these parties were so foolish though.

I'd still vote Tory but I think he'll go soon. I think the Tories have a few who'd make a good PM.

Pyewhacket · 26/01/2022 02:18

Yes. The alternative is too awful to think about.

user1471519931 · 26/01/2022 02:25

@Morgan12

And as for any Scottish person who would vote Tory. There are simply no words.
100% this.

Can you really look at those queues for Dover and think he has sorted out Brexit?

Or true.
Needthesunshine · 26/01/2022 16:53

I’ll vote for the strongest candidate for my area who is most likely to beat the SNP candidate. If that’s the Tory candidate then I’d vote Tory.

Lovingeveryrainbow · 30/01/2022 10:26

I have never and would never ever vote Tory. I also don’t understand how people “agree to disagree” on the fact that Boris Johnson is an islamophobe, racist and a misogynist. What are these ‘Tory values’ that people hold so close to their hearts that include the intentional oppression of marginalised groups? Very telling

Once the vote happened, Brexit had to follow but the agreement Bozo got is terrible, many firms in EU can't trade with UK and vice versa as its too expensive, even individuals cannot have stuff shipped here as previously happened. We've not even fully applied the WD agreement yet.....

Plus, if you are interested at all in the UK, google "Horizon science program" and then say BJ sorted Brexit?

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 30/01/2022 11:42

When people say things like this it’s clear the Boris adoration is a cult that puts Corbyn worship firmly in the shade. 😂
AKASammyScrounge · 31/01/2022 00:22

@Hapoydayz

Yes I'd vote tory. The opposition parties are a very scary prospect in comparison.
Same here. Starmer doesn't know what a woman is. Neither do the SNP. Or the LibDems. So the Tories it is. Maybe we'll get Tom Tugendhat when Boris is kicked out.
TooBigForMyBoots · 31/01/2022 09:37

Does PM Johnson know? How did he answer the question @AKASammyScrounge?

Kshhuxnxk · 31/01/2022 09:41

Two weeks ago I wasn't voting anyone as they're all diabolical however I return to the realisation that to have an attempt at keeping SNP out I have to vote Tory.
