To think this takes the "woke" biscuit

I'm on a discussion FB page. I never post on it but I read it occasionally. Mainly just to gawp at the craziness.

It is FULL of woke types, can't say man or woman it's person with a vagina, chest feeder, all that sort of crap.

Anyway, I've noticed a new thing now where no one is allowed to say dead anymore. It's "unalived". Literally everyone says it. Apparently the word dead or killed is triggering and we should all say "unalived" now.

Today they were discussing dates and whether you tell friends where you're going before you meet the person. All very sensible of course. But the comments are all "yes because I'd hate to be found unalived the next day". These are adult humans talking like this...

I just... what?! Was the world always this insane?

Those awful disease spreading hamsters being killed in Hong Kong with pets ripped from the arms of small children etc because of disease are described as being "euthanised" in today's papers instead of the reality - they are being killed for the greater good.

Well the advice and training I received for talking to the bereaved, especially children is to use the word death and dead so you cannot be misunderstood. Gone to sleep is an absolute no with children or adults with learning disabilities. Compassion doesn't mean you need to use euphemisms

The irony is that the same people using ‘unalived’ also respond to anything really funny with the 💀emoji, meaning ‘dead’.
It isn’t really ironic though is it? A quick search of twitter indicates that ‘unalived’ is generally used is jocular contexts. It was a purposefully stupid word, originally used to get around censors, and has now basically become a tongue-in-cheek meme.

It’s not about avoiding causing offence.
