AIBU to assume Boris Johnson is lying?

Cummings says that he warned Boris the drinks party was against the covid rules.

Boris says he didn’t. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-60039868

So, given the track record, AIBU to assume that BJ is either
(A) lying to Parliament, or
(B) so bad at his job that he has no idea what his private secretary is up to, or what the rules he created actually said, or what the difference is between working and having a drinks party.

@DGRossetti - you hit the nail on the head!
@BashStreetKid yes, plenty of evidence, just not the kind Johnson considers 'real' (from a man whose life has been spent orbiting The Planet Reality)

Obviously the EU have twigged that Boris is toast. So there is zero inclination on their side to do anything. Especially since they've already fallen victim to Boris "nobody told me" wheeze. ("What ? A border in Northern Ireland ? Nobody told me ?").

Which is an interesting position for Brexit ... Boris has become the problem now. "Brexit" (whatever that is) isn't going anywhere as long as Boris is in place.

That's my reading. Remember we've had arch Tory Brexiteers stand up in the House of Commons to make complete tits of themselves whining about immigration and Brexit to Boris.

In fact writing all of that makes me wonder what the Tory party mood might be when Liz Truss reports back and states the above ? Especially as she's one of the front runners for leader ...

Now he may be on the way out, is anyone else wondering what Boris is pocketing/taking advantage of to further cushion the landing?

Because the UK's general needs won't be his priority, that's for sure

Some sort of role in the next Trump administration?
Puzzledandpissedoff · 21/01/2022 14:50

SirChenjins I'd say there's no more chance of Trump being re-elected than there is of Boris doing the same - or even of him becoming a decent person - but frankly nothing surprises me any more Sad

SirChenjins · 21/01/2022 14:59

I’m with you on that. I sometimes feel I’m living in some twilight world where literally anything is possible Sad

I feel that too, it's like the basics of right and wrong are being distorted from the very top and we are supposed to just swallow it.

He could reactivate his US citizenship and stand for POTUS ?

He will be planning on some sinecures with the mates he funnelled lucrative government contracts to.

It could be interesting to see whether they actually want him on board, given what a liability he is.

the80sweregreat · 21/01/2022 17:16

Oh god, would the Americans really vote for Boris Johnson as POTUS? Are they that crazy ?
He revoked his citizenship in 2017 , he'd have to get that back first I suppose ?

SirChenjins · 21/01/2022 17:20

I can’t see him standing for POTUS, but I could see him having some role on the next crazy right-wing administration over there. Or US Ambassador to the UK?!

the80sweregreat · 21/01/2022 17:31

Trump and Johnson working together ..
I really would think the world has gone mad if that happened, but hey, nothing surprises me anymore !

Puzzledandpissedoff · 21/01/2022 20:29

Yes, that's probably the most realistic scenario, but the idea of him working with Trump's amusing
Two egos that size in the same place? Now that would be entertaining Grin
