With DM boots?

I think they are so ugly & chunky. Every time I see them on I think to myself, why would anyone buy them?! They are really masculine looking.

I like the flowery ones.

DontTellThemYourNamePike · 16/01/2022 21:30

DM's are a classic. I don't wear them myself, but I think they look fantastic on other people. The principal of DS's primary school wears DM's in an assortment of styles and colours and looks seriously cool.

I heard a woman clacking along in high heels when I was out shopping yesterday and loads of people were having a sneaky glance in her direction because it was weird to hear the sound of high heels. They seem to have gone out of fashion, at least for now. I do realise, of course, that there are loads of other shoe and boot styles. Just an observation!

Cocomarine · 16/01/2022 21:31

Ugh. To say you don’t like them personally - fine. But to criticise for being “masculine looking” - am I really reading that shite on a site primarily for women in 2022 🙄

Hm2020 · 16/01/2022 21:32

I love them with dresses and skirts love the goth look I’m dreaming of a leopard print pair and they last so well and are comfy!

lightisnotwhite · 16/01/2022 21:34

I don’t think “different people like different things” is actually true.

Otherwise we wouldn’t have fashion trends would we. Remember literally everyone wore skinnies until recently. Whether they suited them or not. Now even if you love skinnies it won’t be long before they look really dated and age you.

DM’s are definitely being worn as a trend. We have gone from one young girl wearing them in the office ( very much her own style) to 9 out of 12 staff members in them. I counted.

AngelinaFibres · 16/01/2022 21:34

I can't wear them .They don't suit me at all . I have a friend who looks fabulous in them. She started wearing them at college because she has very wide feet. She realised she loved the look and carried on. I like flats. Brogues, loafers, boots. I wear heels at weddings.

Lolamento · 16/01/2022 21:34

@JDaytona

Masculine looking????

Is it 1952?

It is 2022 and there are women who like to look feminine.
NinaDefoe · 16/01/2022 21:35

@youcanthandlethetruth

Just no
Each to their own! I’d say the same about these ‘beauties’ 🤣

They’re prettier than bunions op 💪

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 16/01/2022 21:41

@Lolamento I wear my DMs with floral dresses and loud hippy trousers. I look plenty feminine

kittensinthekitchen · 16/01/2022 21:41

Hmm, DMs or plastic look leggings?

ShinyMe · 16/01/2022 21:42

@SliceOfCakeCupOfTea i just wear them with whatever I'm wearing, but for special occasions like going to the theatre or out to dinner, or to work when I'm feeling in need of cheering up. I usually wear them with black tights and a dress, or black jeggings and whatever top I have on.

‘Chunky’ is the preferred look for young uns, they don’t wear heels anymore! (I’m totally on board with this, I stopped wearing heels years ago due to painful feet, I’m sure they’d be in much better shape if I’d stuck to DMs and trainers).

OhPatti · 16/01/2022 21:46

@TrainspottingWelsh

Can't be arsed to read the whole thread, but yabu. If you don't like docs on others then I can guarantee I would think your footwear looks tacky, uncomfortable and pitifully feminine. I think docs look good on everyone of any size and shape. But I've found the people that dislike others wearing them invariably have stumpy legs, and resent others having either the figure or the confidence to get away with them.
'Pitifully feminine'? Hmm
MiladyBerserko · 16/01/2022 21:47

Why is this new? Women have been wearing docs for decades.

SpiceRat · 16/01/2022 21:48

Apparently I’m being a “knob cheese”

Well you said it yourself, we’re all entitled to an opinion, and if everyone thinks you’re being a knob cheese who are you too complain?

Also can’t believe you wear trainers, how disgusting Hmm

ThrobbingToothacheOfTheMind · 16/01/2022 21:48

YANBU, DMs are hideous. It will be one of those trends people look back on and cringe.

There’s a reason they’ve been around for so v V long and it’s not because it’s a “trend”.
Staffy1 · 16/01/2022 21:50

I love them and just biker boots in general.

Smokeahontas · 16/01/2022 21:51

@SlashBeef

Righto. Not sure how well the school run and dog walks will go in Louboutins but sacrifices must be made in the name of femininity I suppose.
Actual LOL Grin
Catswhisky · 16/01/2022 21:52

I love my DMs. They’re comfortable, keep my feet dry and look good with everything.

I wouldn’t wear the patent ones or platform, but that’s because they wouldn’t suit me.

I also love my Timberlands which are similar.

I never wear trainers other than for fitness classes. I wouldn’t go shopping in them. But I don’t judge people who do 🤷🏻‍♀️.
