With DM boots?

I think they are so ugly & chunky. Every time I see them on I think to myself, why would anyone buy them?! They are really masculine looking.

YABVU. I love mine. They last forever.

AutomaticMoon · 16/01/2022 21:11

But I’ve been kind of on lockdown for the past 10 years due to illness. So could be why the red DMs ended up in absolute tatters, back then I was out and about more. Wore them into the ground!

ShinyMe · 16/01/2022 21:11

I reckon OP works for Docs and is trying to drum up traffic to the website.

steff13 · 16/01/2022 21:12

I don't care for them. But it's easy enough to understand why people do - because different people like different things. I would have thought that was obvious, but perhaps not...

phishy · 16/01/2022 21:14

@youcanthandlethetruth

Like I said, it’s just my opinion. We are all entitled to an opinion Confused

Apparently I’m being a “knob cheese” though, so off I trot (in my 6 inch heels Wink) goodnight Wine

So people are responding to your opinion, so what?

Or are you the only one entitled to one?

GloriaSilver · 16/01/2022 21:15

I love them. I have a few pairs. Love them. My fave are the fur lined Chelsea.

AnAverageMum · 16/01/2022 21:16

I live in trainers & agree they’re masculine looking! But most of the people I know who wear them have great fashion sense so it must just be us on this one!

ShinyMe · 16/01/2022 21:16

If not, then OP is definitely one of the 20% who voted that dinosaur jumpers are unreasonable and adult clothes should all be navy blue on my earlier thread.
Derrymum123 · 16/01/2022 21:17

I have a wide selection of DMs. I am on my feet all day and I match them with whatever I am wearing. I never have to replace them because they last. Donated all my other non DM boots and wear DM shoes and sandals when it is too warm for boots.(which isn't often given where I live!)

OrangeIsTheNewRed · 16/01/2022 21:19

If you don't like them then don't buy them Hmm

Personally, I love them. They are the comfiest, cosiet and most practical footwear I have ever owned and I love how they look.

PriamFarrl · 16/01/2022 21:21

I’ve never noticed them being a thing or an obsession.
I wore them in the 90s but I’ve not had any since then.

I don’t really care that much about other people’s choices of shoes.

Whoknowsweknows · 16/01/2022 21:22

Like I said, it’s just my opinion. We are all entitled to an opinion

But who asked for your opinion?!

Wonnle · 16/01/2022 21:22

I blame the song by Alexei Sayle myself

PickAChew · 16/01/2022 21:23

Why is "masculine looking" a problem?

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 16/01/2022 21:23

Don't buy or wear them op.

I personally can't stand heels. And watching people try and walk in them makes me laugh sometimes.

I love my DMs. And mine are a size 9 so extra big and clumpy. In fact, I think they're actually men's Shock

Lipsandlashes · 16/01/2022 21:24

My mum bought my DD10 a pair for her birthday. She wears them with A line dresses and thick tights and looks bloody brilliant in them. YABVU!

Fe2O3Girl · 16/01/2022 21:24

If you love DMs but you’re disappointed by the downturn in quality, check out Solovair, the original UK manufacturers.

AngryApple · 16/01/2022 21:25

I’ve got a pair of DM boots WITH 6 inch heels. Grin

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 16/01/2022 21:26

@youcanthandlethetruth

People can’t seriously wear these
Why? What's wrong with them? I've had a pair of converse for Xmas with an extra chunky sole.
Hertsgirl10 · 16/01/2022 21:26

I get what you’re saying here, I wouldn’t wear them personally they do look big and ugly buuuut they do seem to suit lots of people, so not my style but certainly don’t think others look weird in them.

PenStation · 16/01/2022 21:26

Good call @Fe2O3Girl

I’ve got a pair of UK made DMs that are pretty good. They should be at the price I paid but they are wearing well.

Whatwouldscullydo · 16/01/2022 21:27

I’ve got a pair of DM boots WITH 6 inch heels

Ha ha " brain cannot compute" 🤯Grin

I'm 5 ft 7 I don't need height but I'm a bit jealous now

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 16/01/2022 21:28

@ShinyMe

These are my gold ones. I think mumsnet actually persuaded me to buy them a couple of years ago when I was dithering, and I love them.
Ooooo what do you wear those with?

I'm not brave enough to wear anything other than white or black on my feet.

JenniferWooley · 16/01/2022 21:28

I agree OP I think they're awful but I have smallish very slim feet which would just rattle around in those big clodhoppers.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 16/01/2022 21:29

I need to see these.
