With DM boots?

I think they are so ugly & chunky. Every time I see them on I think to myself, why would anyone buy them?! They are really masculine looking.

I don’t wear heels haven’t done for 25 years, I love docs.

Snugglepumpkin · 16/01/2022 20:55

I don't get it as I think they do look too big as if people have giant cartoon man feet on little womens legs, but honestly who cares unless for some reason people are making you wear them?

I can look ridiculous myself without even needing extra big shoes/boots.

pearldrops04 · 16/01/2022 20:56

YANBU OP, I think exactly the same. Zero elegance and class, like everyone’s reverted back to their grunge/ goth teen days.

RememberToLookUp · 16/01/2022 20:57

YABU.

I like how they look on other people (much better than 6 inch heels!), but they’re not for me. Too heavy and I don’t find them comfortable.

Just no
Look, if you're boring, just say that

It may surprise you to know, lots of people don’t care about being elegant or “classy”.
VelvetChairGirl · 16/01/2022 20:59

@42isthemeaning

Always wanted some. My feet are usually in size 8 to 8.5 but they don't seem to do half sizes. I have very wide flat feet What size would people recommend? Sorry op - you've made me think about buying some now! Grin
Can you not go to the shop they have a few stores
MajorCarolDanvers · 16/01/2022 20:59

They are incredibly comfortable and last for years. Great value for money.

It's ok to have different tastes.

I can't understand why anyone would wear high heels.

ouch321 · 16/01/2022 20:59

I don't like them but they're a "thing" on this website.

I have Timberlamnds which I think are much nicer.

Not a big heels person- I much prefer ballet pumps, casual trainers or flat boots.

@youcanthandlethetruth

Like I said, it’s just my opinion. We are all entitled to an opinion Confused

Apparently I’m being a “knob cheese” though, so off I trot (in my 6 inch heels Wink) goodnight Wine

Flouncing off when people disagree with you, when your user name is "you can't handle the truth" seems rather ironic ...
midsomermurderess · 16/01/2022 21:00

There is space between DMs and 6 inch heels. Who as a matter of course 'totters', it's always 'totters' around in 6 inch heels?

premiumfeet · 16/01/2022 21:02

At this time of the year, when the ground is wet or extremely cold, doc martens are the only boots that will keep my feet warm and dry. I've had many boots from Chelsea style to fleece interior and heels but my feet and socks always come out either damp or wet and really cold. I can't see myself in snow boots or hiking boots but doc martens are the only decent boots that have been long lasting and comfortable and something that goes with everything I want to wear whether it's dresses, joggers, cropped smart trousers or simple jeans.

EileenGC · 16/01/2022 21:04

There is a middle ground between 'normal' DMs and the examples you posted. Which I don't like either. Where I live it snows unpredictably, the roads can get slippery, it rains and between December and March it doesn't go above 4/5º celsius. It's chunky boots, or you'll freeze and/or break an ankle. Trainers are for summer here.

VelvetChairGirl · 16/01/2022 21:04

OK I dont understand why you would want to buy boots that look like they've been jizzed on.

Cyderdelic · 16/01/2022 21:04

I live in para boots which are brilliant when you have to walk 7-10 miles a day. Really comfy, long lasting and I think they look great. What I really dont get is those ankle boots that make your feet look like pigs trotters that many seem to favour....

PenStation · 16/01/2022 21:04

They last really well, keep feet dry when tramping rainy streets and are comfortable. I also like that they are ok in most situations. If I decide to go for a muddy walk at lunchtime, I can wear them, but they look equally ok if I go to a bar. Other boots are similar. I own high heels but will give them to the charity shop because it always rains where I live and the city centre is covered in cobbles. I have not worn them for years.

Those are terrible. I doubt they've produced millions of pairs because that's not your average DM design.

They literally do totter. Ridiculous shoes make for a ridiculous gait
SmellyOldOwls · 16/01/2022 21:06

I'm not a fan personally but couldn't care less what other people wear on their feet. I still wear untrendy converse type shoes and have ended up with chilblains as a result.

Hapoydayz · 16/01/2022 21:06

I wish I still had all my old pairs from the 90's. Have bought new now they are back in fashion!

TrainspottingWelsh · 16/01/2022 21:08

Can't be arsed to read the whole thread, but yabu. If you don't like docs on others then I can guarantee I would think your footwear looks tacky, uncomfortable and pitifully feminine.
I think docs look good on everyone of any size and shape. But I've found the people that dislike others wearing them invariably have stumpy legs, and resent others having either the figure or the confidence to get away with them.

MyCatStaresAtMe · 16/01/2022 21:08

Mrs Thatcher didn’t like Dr Martins according to Alexi Sayle.

AutomaticMoon · 16/01/2022 21:08

I can’t stand ‘girly’ looking shoes, flimsy, impractical, etc. What if I have to run in a combat situation, from a rapist? DMs can be a self defence weapon, I used to have bright red with steel toe caps. Unfortunately even my own mother asked me if I’m a nazi, when she first saw me after 5 years! I’m a jew but I had an undercut so maybe that’s why.

I have cPTSD from abuse in foster care so this might explain my choice of shoes. I now have a pair of Vegetarian Shoes (just because I like the style, not for ethical reasons) engineer boots in matte black, I’ve had them since 2013 and barely show any wear.

SpacePotato · 16/01/2022 21:09

The only take forever to break in if you buy the original style in the stiff leather. Your ankles and heels will hate you.

There are different shape footbeds and plenty in soft leathers and varies leg heights.
