To ask what you’re doing awake post-midnight?

5YearsLeft · 12/01/2022 00:24

I had a day that just really banged me about, physically, emotionally, just all the ways, and now, I’m laying here awake and staring at the ceiling.

So why are you awake? Crying baby? Can’t stop thinking? Worried about something tomorrow? Pain somewhere in your body being an arsehole?

Welcome?

@Flashinggreen sorry to hear about your insomnia. I have had the same and it is terrible. Currently taking low dosage of Amitryptiline for back pain. It’s absolutely not working for that but does definitely help me sleep, when the back pain allows! My doctor only gave me 6 zopiclone as very addictive. Hope you can find a solution.

5YearsLeft · 31/01/2022 11:30

Hello all - sun’s up (for a while now) so the thread is “closed” for the night. But of course you’re welcome to leave messages during the day or whenever it strikes you (especially if you have something you need to say @Tinabn - feel free to let it out; or if anyone needs support for their insomnia and couldn’t post during the night).

I managed to fall asleep for about 5 hours so who knows what my sleep schedule will be like tonight, but I’m sure I’ll be around to open the thread.

@Coroico97 Very best of luck with your pain. I know it’s a bear.
@Flashinggreen Good luck tackling the medication subject with your GP. Sometimes advocating for ourselves is one of the most tiring and draining parts of any illness.

Oh and @autienotnaughty, I do hope the sleep schedule worked out!

Flowers So glad you got some sleep.
Flashinggreen · 31/01/2022 13:28

The dr I spoke to suggested lots of things to help sleep, exercise no alcohol etc. I was prescribed 10 zopiclone last week which I thought wouldn’t be ready til tomorrow. She’s says to take 2 a night for five nights, I’m worried about how addictive they are but she seemed unconcerned. Also some propranolol fur day times. Will have to go out later and collect. Work’s been cancelled today and tomorrow. In the nicest way I hope not to be on here tonight. Sending strength to all

5YearsLeft · 31/01/2022 14:34

@Flashinggreen I do hope the propranolol helps with the anxiety; I know a few people who have had great success with it, though they did have to get the dosage correct, but I remember my friend saying it helped with her “jittery feeling,” so maybe that’s like your shivering. And while I understand the fears about dependence on zopiclone, maybe the doctor is hoping that taking it for less than two weeks will still be fine? But if it doesn’t work tonight and you’re concerned about continuing for five nights, you have the right to tell her that. Hopefully it will just work tonight and not be an issue. And yes, as much as I appreciate everyone on this thread, when you desperately need sleep, I’d rather not see you here Wink

Welcome to the after-midnight thread. We’re a bit late since MN was down. If you’re up with anything - babies, children, COVID, pain, illness, grief, anxiety, insomnia, work, or just plain clock-watching - this thread is for all of it, and you’re very welcome here. (Though I do hope not to see @Flashinggreen tonight, that her new medications have worked to bring her sleep.) So, why are you up? (If anyone’s out there.)

I'm here with my tabby cat in bed again

5YearsLeft · 01/02/2022 01:25

@purpleme12 Welcome back, purple and mog! I thought maybe when you weren’t here for a few days over the weekend that your insomnia might be at an end, but I should have known that nothing’s ever quite that easy!

Restless legs!!

purpleme12 · 01/02/2022 01:31

@5YearsLeft has your day been less painful today?

JangolinaPitt · 01/02/2022 01:46

Emotional rollercoaster -divorcing but while new lease of life with new boyfriend after years of doing nothing my social life is now very active. Work super busy and my mind is just in overdrive so in weird routine of falling asleep for about 4hours then waking up - doesn’t matter what time so go to bed-and then waking in the morning 5.30 whatever time I go to bed. Hoping to exchange contracts on a house in the next couple of weeks - terrified it will fall through but also sad that STBXH will move his AP and her kids into what has been our family home for 25 years.

GenderCriticalTrumpets · 01/02/2022 01:56

I've got the cough from hell and I'm trying not to keep DH up with it for the millionth night! DS11 has COVID so I'm wondering if I do to and its just taking a while to show up on LFT...

vodkaredbullgirl · 01/02/2022 02:04

Clock watching 6 hours till the end of my night shift. Then I'm off for 4 nights yeppeee.

5YearsLeft · 01/02/2022 03:52

@FoamBurst I’m sorry! I know they can be truly hellish when they keep you awake. All I can recommend is to try a heated blanket around them for a bit to soothe the muscles and to try rubbing them out. And I fully admit that might not work.

@JangolinaPitt What a mix! It sounds like there are some good things, but that’s still so much to think about and so much to have on your mind, no wonder it’s full. And I can definitely understand that awakening ar the same time every night, even if you have normal sleep. I used to always awaken at 2-3am, no matter what, when I slept during the night. And I think you can both really want something to happen and yet still be very sad it will happen (selling your house and having your ex and his AP love in), especially when the same thing brings highs and lows. That’s just normal. I really hope the contracts exchange, works gets slightly less busy, and maybe you find yourself with slightly sounder sleep!

@GenderCriticalTrumpets Oh no! Doesn’t matter much if the LFT is negative when you’re suffering the cough from hell anyway. I’m sorry. While it’s VERY kind of you to try not to keep DH up, you can’t control your cough, so just do the best you can to get through it. Maybe some hot water and honey to soothe your throat, hopefully, and I really hope you can get back to sleep!

@vodkaredbullgirl Ah, you’re so, so close!!! And then four glorious nights off! Good luck!

And @purpleme12, thanks - had an up and down day. I slept a lot today and tonight (I’m up now, ha) which I’m really fortunate for, around some struggles with pain.

Hello everyone. I just woke up needing a wee and know I won't get back to sleep. My mind goes into overdrive. I'm going to stroke the cat and try and solve some problems.

Odoreida · 01/02/2022 03:56

@JangolinaPitt that sounds like so many massive things to deal with!

5YearsLeft · 01/02/2022 04:02

@Odoreida Oh gosh, that’s annoying and unfair of your body. You’d think it would get with the program - it’s have a wee and go back to sleep! But we just don’t always get control over the situation. I hope maybe you can drift back off soon!

OP posts:
catwomando · 01/02/2022 07:41

Morning! I went to see a Play last night (excellent) so didn't get to bed until midnight so slept though (apart from the inevitable getting up for a wee sessions, of course).

I just wanted to pop in and say 'pinch punch 1st day of the month (and no returns) Grin

I hope you all have a February full of delicious naps, and full-on snores in deep , refreshing slumber for the whole month!

But then again, I'll most probably see you at 4am tonight 😂

5YearsLeft · 01/02/2022 12:01

Sun’s up, thread’s shut! (Unless anyone needs it or wants to leave a message, as always - I completely understand that you can be stuck awake or have insomnia even at 2pm).

@catwomando Ah, so glad you got out to see a play and got some quality sleep starting at midnight! My sleep last night was just… absolutely fucked. I managed to fall asleep but then woke up with the most horrific sore throat (I thought that was over now that I’m done with COVID?!?) so then I was up from 4am to something and then I slept until noon so now… I’m afraid I’ll be on the thread again at 4am. I may try to take something for sleep tonight though, because we’re supposed to go to the aquarium TOMORROW (!!!!!) and one of my diseases is entirely dependent on me being rested - not enough rest, and I won’t be able to breathe.

So maybe we’ll all start tonight with sleep, even me!

Welcome to the early-bird edition* of the after-midnight thread. For whatever reason you’re awake, whether it’s COVID, other illness, pain, grief, anxiety, a crying baby or snoring DH, work (start or end), or just something else, you’re always safe to share it here. Flowers

*posted slightly early since I’m hoping to fall asleep before my trip tomorrow

I've just had a takeaway and I have to say I'm feeling guilty 😳
Which is sad
I'm off to have a bath soon and watch Couples Therapy. Have you watched it?
Where you going on your trip?

5YearsLeft · 01/02/2022 23:41

@purpleme12 Don’t feel guilty! What’s done is done. If you don’t want to do it again soon, don’t do it again soon.

I haven’t watched Couples Therapy. Is it on Netflix? Is it good??

We’re off to the aquarium in Lausanne!!! It’ll be the first time I’ve left Geneva in we’ll over a year (ripped all the connecting bits in my ankle a year ago and then had a bad back for months; it’s been a shit show). We need to be at the train station at 9, so I need to be up at 8 probably to have tea and medication (ha) and make sure I’m not sick to my stomach, and it’s currently 00:34.

Do you ever do that where you start calculating how many hours of sleep you can still get if you fall asleep right now? So I can still get seven hours, if I fall asleep by 01:00.

purpleme12 · 01/02/2022 23:50

Oooh that sounds good!

My child always likes to count how many hours sleep she gets!

It's on iplayer
I'm looking it
Watching episode 4 now

purpleme12 · 01/02/2022 23:50

*liking it, not looking it!
