I had a day that just really banged me about, physically, emotionally, just all the ways, and now, I’m laying here awake and staring at the ceiling.

So why are you awake? Crying baby? Can’t stop thinking? Worried about something tomorrow? Pain somewhere in your body being an arsehole?

Welcome?

Yes. I'm awake. Hi there.

5YearsLeft · 22/01/2022 04:16

@FlappyFish I’m so glad that you made it through your surgery and it went well but I definitely know that feeling when the hospital pain relief has worn off. It’s definitely not the best. And gynae surgery is already fairly rough in opinion; your entire abdomen is painful and sore and depending on how you had it done, even your shoulders can hurt. I do hope they gave you something to take that will help for a few days (a polyp and an ablation is nothing to sneeze at) and that you’re not waiting for biopsy with the polyp? And that you find a comfortable position to get rest.

@Internaljukebox anybody snoring in the same room as other humans should be prodded relentlessly until they desist. Or decide to stay awake so that the non-snoring humans can sleep.

Internaljukebox · 22/01/2022 04:24

I'd usually prod away believe me, but he's done his maximum drive hours today and he's proper knackered. He has to have a 9 hour break. Tbh I've noticed his snoring is actually way quieter in the truck then at home 😆 I'm sat on here and being a curtain twitcher at all the other trucks coming and going .

nicky2512 · 22/01/2022 04:35

I can’t sleep. My back is so sore. Have osteoarthritis and doc says it’s a “flare-up” of pain but I’ve never in my life had pain like in the last week.
I used to be fine lying flat so night time wasn’t too bad but not now!
I’m just listening to dh sleeping peacefully and my wee dog dreaming.

FlappyFish · 22/01/2022 04:37

@5YearsLeft I have codeine and ibuprofen which is keeping it in check. It’s kicking in now. Blessed relief!

Thanks for your sweet reply. Helps me feel less alone. (Partner is here but treating me like a delicate flower or getting angry as he can’t fix the pain. Wish we could both go to sleep)

123feraverto · 22/01/2022 04:45

Fed the baby now can't get back to sleep

5YearsLeft · 22/01/2022 05:00

@Internaljukebox Maybe the snoring has less room to echo inside the truck? Ha. But yes, he definitely needs the sleep if he’s done enough to need his legal 9 hour break. Good on him for sticking to the rules.

@nicky2512 I’m sorry! I have trouble with some of the joints in my lower spine and I can’t lay on my back. I would be a little concerned if it’s pain like you’ve never felt before that maybe it’s time to call your doctor and get new reports. It’s not an emergency (I’ve been told) unless you suddenly can’t feel your limbs as well, or have that back pain and suddenly become incontinent.

@FlappyFish Well, I’m glad you’ve got something, but I’m know that first big drop from hospital pain relief to home pain relief is still not fun. So glad it’s kicking in!!!

And I’ve heard of that many times. Many men either want to soothe it or DIY it away. You take away their ability to give you flowers about it or use power tools on it and their whole problem-solving goes to hell. I’m sure he’s upset seeing you in pain… but you’re the one in pain!

@123feraverto Classic problem. Baby is now fed and dozing and you’re sitting there WIDE awake. Hope sleep can re-find you!

Lambing.

floatinginmyhomie · 22/01/2022 05:11

My first night out since DC2 was born in November. Currently sat in the living room finishing off my maccies and postponing having to take my make up off 🙄

nicky2512 · 22/01/2022 05:12

*@5YearsLeft thanks. That’s what I was told too. Will see how it goes on next week or so and might go back. Def not an emergency but just so much worse than it usually gets.
Have decided to just get up and start my day early!!!

catwomando · 22/01/2022 05:24

Good (?) morning all. I'm awake because it's just after 4am and that's the time I wake when I drink wine now. Bloody menopause.

I also had a very emotional day yesterday at a friends funeral (she was young and it was a shock). It keeps reverberating round my head.

That said I have a lovely day ahead today, taking DS back to Uni. So sad as I am to see him go it means we get to spend precious time together.

Sorry for all of you in pain (been there so can sympathise) , feeding babies (ditto) , and for @Modernidiot (been there too but was glad he'd gone and I now have the most wonderful DH , so good riddance to the old one!) I'm so sorry he's putting you through this. Tea is definitely a good choice. It's at times like these that I often think of getting a teasmade like my grandma had Grin

Hope everyone manages to get a few winks in before morning proper.

5YearsLeft · 22/01/2022 05:35

@Wallywobbles Oh wow! I bet that’s a little bit more labor intensive than @whatshouldIdoo’s guinea pigs. Good luck to them and you!

@floatinginmyhomie Ha. Good for you.

@nicky2512 I do hope it gets less, but I know those nights of waking up with it absolutely stabbing at about 4am and just giving up and getting up.

@catwomando Sorry about your emotional day yesterday! Sounds like it was quite a shock and the wine was called for. But glad you have a day of something to look forward to.

It's a lot of waiting around and then panicking. The 1 am lamb got stuck with only one front leg and head out. They should come out in a diving position. Couldn't get the second front leg out so not fab for mum or lamb but all alive and kicking.

To ask what you’re doing awake post-midnight?
GaryLurcher19 · 22/01/2022 05:46

I woke up at 5 because I fell to sleep earlier than usual.

Uninteresting but true.

Catcob · 22/01/2022 06:17

Morning! I've been up since 4. Had to take the cat to be pts after she'd be struggling to sleep all night. Her time had come. Woke the DC up to say goodbye to her. Back home having tea now. Very sad.

I'm sorry to all those of you struggling with pain. Thanks

Catcob · 22/01/2022 06:17

This made me happy. Hope mum's not too sore!
5YearsLeft · 22/01/2022 06:23

@Wallywobbles If that isn’t a metaphor for life: a lot of waiting around and then panicking. So glad to hear lamb and ewe… and you… are okay. I know this is a strange question but when you’re done with lambing, how do you wash your clothes? Do you have one dedicated machine for really dirty farm clothes and use really strong detergent or are there just a bunch of farmers somewhere sitting around together, drinking tea in their skivvies, whilst waiting for Tesco Lavender Dreams to get the job done?

@GaryLurcher19 Some days that’s just how it goes. It’s not all being an international spy and lambing around here.

Well I finally fell asleep then some geezer banged on the window for some paperwork and I panicked and bashed my head on the gearstick 🤣
Oh well ...I'm definitely going to need coffee this morning.

Littlewhiteballs · 22/01/2022 06:36

Good morning everyone 😊

I'm awake since 4am after dd7 came barging in with a nosebleed. Also still debating whether to report neighbours to ss or speak to them directly. All I ever here is the man shouting, slamming doors and swearing at his young dc. I'm tempted to set my ex on him but that would probably make the situation worse for the dc Sad

5YearsLeft · 22/01/2022 06:36

@Internaljukebox You’re kidding! That’s absolutely the way of it; you finally doze off and then some bastard gearstick attacks you.

OP posts:
5YearsLeft · 22/01/2022 06:42

@Littlewhiteballs Oh, I hope the nosebleed has cleared up for DS! And as for next door, that’s really difficult. He obviously sounds quite abusive, especially to the little ones. I would NOT try to speak to him directly, as I can’t imagine any way that could go well. If there is a mother in the scene and you feel she may also be a victim, you could try to speak to her when she’s not there. If that’s not an option, please do call SS. I think, and someone more knowledgeable may be along and able to tell you how to report to SS, if you think both the wife and children are being abused, maybe SS can help the whole family except the father? But the children need to be the priority. Definitely don’t set your ex on him. It will only make a bad situation worse, unfortunately.

@5YearsLeft

That just makes me sadder. I miss the spying (OK not spying exactly).

5YearsLeft · 22/01/2022 07:14

@GaryLurcher19 Ah, sorry to hear that. But if I’ve learned anything from films such as RED in particular, it’s that spies and things like that, never completely retire, so I’m sure there’s at least one more adventure coming.
