Is MN middle class? Feeling inadequate and that my life is boring.

Is MN mainly full of middle to upper class posters?

Having read through some of the threads, especially tonight's holiday thread where everyone appears to be having multiple holidays this year, I'm feeling very low and inadequate, and that there's something wrong in my life Sad

Oh well, comparison is the thief of joy and all that.

@AllThePogs I think 8 to a room is probably more doss house. Sharing room with a partner is not any different to what I did when staying in MIL's house...
@CiaoForDiNiaoSaur how do I find the holiday thread you're talking about - I'm relatively new to MN so still finding my way around, but it sounds interesting!
@AllThePogs

Can I just add, that renting a cottage in the UK can be pretty expensive and more than I would spend if going abroad. It is only a cheaper option if you go pretty expensive holidays abroad.
Whereas if you go to Pontins you can have all-inclusive for very little money.

They do however have the disadvantage of being essentially borstal-on-sea.

AllThePogs · 13/01/2022 14:58

Is Pontins the one with reviews about how dirty and run down it is?
You can go abroad very cheaply.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 13/01/2022 15:03

I wouldn't go to Pontins if it was free.

@merrygoround51 See I would always prioritise experiences over possessions. We're very average earners, our house is in a nice area but small. I'd rather minimise the amount of stuff we have (so no need for a bigger house), and have money for travel, days out and hobbies, than have a bigger house and no money to do things.
I don't necessarily think people are lying when they say they have multiple holidays. We travel a lot (or did, pre Covid), and it wasn't unusual for us to have multiple trips booked. I find it very odd that someone would lie about that kind of thing on an anonymous forum.

AllThePogs · 13/01/2022 15:27

@TheToddlerLife I think most people who are comfortable prioritise experiences. Because unless you are excessively materialistic, there are only so many possessions a few adults and kids need.
