Hideous & I'm surprised to notice they're for men probably the sort of men who lie about their height on dating apps

ScreamingMeMe · 11/01/2022 16:09

They just look like a pair of Nike Air Max. confused

I really don’t get the hilarity.

Those white bits are part of the background, not part of the trainer's sole...

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 11/01/2022 16:09

Loving that the po faced posse have found this thread. Grin If you can't take the piss out of fashion then what's left?!
To answer you op. No no I wouldn't buy those monsters.

musicviking1 · 11/01/2022 16:10

Nah even if £975 was pennies to me.

Hawkins001 · 11/01/2022 16:12

If I was flush, and now and then buy expensive items, id like to try them for walking especially the distances I cover.

RantyAunty · 11/01/2022 16:46

Some of these designers seem to try their best to make people look foolish for a high price.

Rubyupbeat · 11/01/2022 16:50

No different to some people spending 20 quid on a pair from Asda, it's all relative.

Dottybackorcid · 11/01/2022 17:11

Hmm Those are hideous, I'm sorry but you would look like a right clown in those.
Also expected a £100 on the spot fine or points on your licence driving in them (Rule 97 highway code).
Some fashion is just like the emperor with no clothes, sad and gullible.

onlychildhamster · 11/01/2022 17:19

@Rubyupbeat my DH just bought these crocs- www.crocs.co.uk/p/classic-lined-clog/203591.html?cgid=lined&cid=7A9#start=11

They are his new favourite shoes. I am sure some mumsnetters would hate them more than these sneakers! They are £31.49 on discount which is a lot of money to some people, just like £900 is a lot of money to me for a pair of shoes.

onlychildhamster · 11/01/2022 17:23

@RantyAunty they are probably not worn, i imagine such sneakers would never leave the glass cabinet they are in. They are collectors items.

nonevernotever · 11/01/2022 17:34

I know someone who bought the female version. She saved up all her overtime for a few months to finance it and was SO happy with them. She did try telling us all that it was an investment, but given she was wearing them out in dry weather we didn't swallow that bit.

onlychildhamster · 11/01/2022 17:47

@nonevernotever Interesting! I guess she is not wealthy from your description! Why is she so brand-conscious; does she have rich friends, does she follow a lot of social media influencers,

The only people I know who buy designer items which don't correspond with their financial status are asians where its common for middle class people to buy them as status symbols i.e. i know some people who work in sales back home feel the pressure to carry designer bags as their clients might assume they are not good at their job/earning high commission if they don't!

gogohm · 11/01/2022 17:49

Really, most I've spent on shoes is £99 on my motorbike boots and they have armour in them

ILoveYourLittleHat · 11/01/2022 18:35

I've always found that a bit odd (in any culture) - if I was a potential customer, knowing that someone was really good at selling would put me on guard a bit, as I'd want to be buying whatever it is for the benefits of that thing rather than the sales patter!

Iceywinterwonderland · 11/01/2022 19:09

Nope

LakieLady · 11/01/2022 19:25

@user1488622199

I could make myself look like a twat for much less than £975
Pmsl!

I wouldn't want them. I want these instead

plus a bottle of Molton Brown's Labdanum Dusk perfume and then I can spend the rest on a spa day somewhere lovely.

LakieLady · 11/01/2022 19:25

Apologies for that enormous link, folks.

secular39 · 11/01/2022 19:27

Ha! I needed a laugh today and this was it.
