I've easily got £975 spare.

I'm in that position financially partly because I definitely would not piss that money down the pan on £975 shoes.

Bluebluemoon · 11/01/2022 13:26

Balenciaga is definitely not aimed at the typical MN user.

They seem to be aimed at hairdressers if my local salon is anything to go by - they all wear those horrid black trainer-sock ones. They make everyone's feet look massive!

PinkiOcelot · 11/01/2022 13:32

I remember during lockdown, we were sitting on the floor of our local shopping centre having something to eat and a girl walked past in what I said were the ugliest trainers I’d ever seen. Dd said mam they’re balenciagas! I said I don’t care what they are, they’re hideous!

DeepaBeesKit · 11/01/2022 13:32

Modern Balenciaga is really nothing to do with the original couturier.

It's just a brand bought by a conglomerate that owns a load of other brands. As a pp has said these brands are generally very good at getting stupid people to buy junk at huge prices so as to demonstrate wealth. Yuck.

Mummyoflittledragon · 11/01/2022 13:32

My 13 yo and all her friends are mad for the stuff. I refuse to allow her to buy the fakes so she doesn’t have anything, obvs.

PoshPyjamas · 11/01/2022 13:37

I think they look like they'd be great fun to walk in!

BarbaraofSeville · 11/01/2022 13:39

I can't decide between the trainers that look like the ones I put in the bin last week for £850 and stiletto crocs for £450. I might have buy both.

@Santaisstilleatingmincepies

Bet my teens would have them. Not bought by me obviously!!
I'm hoping teenage GS who lives with me doesn't see them. I can see all the money he earned doing Christmas shifts plus his Christmas money going on them. Fortunately he wouldn't imagine that I was mad enough to buy them.

Having said that I have fond memories of the Mary Quant coat I bought in about 1968, as my mother pointed out it was so short I'd have cold legs and was ridiculously expensive but it was a thing of beauty. I don't know why I didn't keep it.

liveforsummer · 11/01/2022 13:41

Are they not a toy - like a trainer/pogo stick hybrid?

Blossomtoes · 11/01/2022 13:43

Oh not another of these tedious threads where other women’s fashion choices are rubbished. The last one was less than a week ago and it didn’t end well.

OK, this thread was fun until you introduced the visual excrement that is stiletto Crocs.... Angry Grin
ancientgran · 11/01/2022 13:44

@ILoveYourLittleHat

Does no-one else really want to try bouncing in them?! I'd pay 9.75p for a try.
Yes I'd have a go as well although the physio who has been treating my recovering broken ankle might think women of almost 70 should have more sense.

Maybe we could find 100 people to chip in and we could all have a go.

Yes. Yes, it is women's fashion choices that are being rubbished on this thread. You are correct. Well done! Grin
Jacopo · 11/01/2022 13:44

What height of buildings can you vault over when wearing these?

Juletide · 11/01/2022 13:46

Though do come with free boots though.

A&E supply them when you turn up with two broken ankles.

The one I got wasn't impressive, I asked if it was the poundshop version of the Beckham boot and the physio agreed it was likely.

You’re kidding, right?
VenusClapTrap · 11/01/2022 13:51

My hairdresser is very into buying Balenciaga trainers. He has a huge collection it would seem. He’s not wealthy by any stretch. He has no children and is single, so his collecting isn’t doing anyone any harm. I really can’t see that it’s any different from any other nonsense that people enjoy spending all their money on, whether that’s handbags, computer games, designer dog breeds, spa weekends or photography equipment. We all have our ‘thing’.

PattyPan · 11/01/2022 13:54

Pretty expensive way to wreck your gait!

SammyScrounge · 11/01/2022 13:54

@BalladOfBarryAndFreda

Balenciaga are (in)famous for getting the wealthy and ridiculous to part with their cash. This jacket for is a perfect example…
Looks like a council worker come to inspect the drains.
TatianaBis · 11/01/2022 13:55

Kanye West def would.

Littlewhiteballs · 11/01/2022 13:55

They look exactly like my current trainers that are falling apart and no amount of superglue will keep the bloody soles on. Woo hoo, I'm fashionable 🥳

prettyteapotsplease · 11/01/2022 13:55

For those with more money than sense. Even if I had a million pounds to spare I wouldn't buy these but I suspect I'm not their intended demographic.

Terfydactyl · 11/01/2022 13:57

@BalladOfBarryAndFreda

Exactly *@womaninatightspot*, £30 from Screwfix or £3k from Balenciaga? Tough one.
Howling, I get mine free from work as it's a necessity apparently. Going to send the link to the balenciaga one and demand that next time. Can you imagine the wailing when I rip* it?

I regularly rip them, at least two a year.
