... Is when someone comments you look good for your age?

I got told I look good for 40 today.

No one ever said that in my 30s

I feel old

When your youngest child hits 30. They are not 'young' young anymore so you must be old ShockShock

The moment you hear Gardener's Question Time on Radio 4 and wonder if there IS a way to keep those slugs off your geraniums. Death is near. Wink

Butchyrestingface · 07/01/2022 23:44

When I was 23, someone asked me how old I was. When I told them, they hurriedly responded, "Well, don't worry. You don't look it."

Confused

I am 50.. Had my eyebrows dyed literally days ago. Today I plucked a long bloody white hair out! What has life got in store that I need long white eyebrows to deal with it?

I’m 40 and I have had grey strands in my brows since my 20s. Although don’t have much grey head hair really.

Life taketh and life giveth!

When I fell walking down the slippery steps at Glastonbury Tor and a teenaged couple rushed over to help me to my feet.

"When your memories are more uplifting than your dreams."

Can't remember which film that is from, but definitely true for me.

LowlandLucky · 07/01/2022 23:59

You are old when you can't bend over to pick something ithout making some kind of noise.

LadyinRead · 07/01/2022 23:59

That was 20 years ago, I might add.

Walking home from my sisters tonight on a suburban street I used the torch on my phone as the street lights weren’t quite good enough & I don’t want to fall .

When on a National trust day one of the volunteers asked my 7 year old son if he enjoyed days out with grandma 😳 instantly pissed me off for the day!! I'm 47.

Don't worry TheBestForLast - one of my former classmates became a gran the week I became a mum! People have children at all ages really.
PattyPan · 08/01/2022 00:44

I commented to DP that the Times concise crossword was disappointingly easy today so pretty sure I’m ready for my blue rinse now!

I don't get why people do this, always say child as it will be a compliment then if you are a grandparent!!
WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 08/01/2022 09:54

When you are doing a MN survey and you realise you have gone up a category in the age range question.

Exhausteddog · 08/01/2022 10:00

A friend who is 12 years younger than me said she was surprised I don't dye my hair because most women my age do. (42)

CounsellorTroi · 08/01/2022 10:07

I am 60. I suppose I am old but I don’t feel it.

Belledan1 · 08/01/2022 10:10

I got told I was a laugh for my age by a work colleague 25 years younger. Think it was a compliment lol. Same age as her mom but apparently her mom is a nag!!

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 08/01/2022 10:13

I reckon the benchmark is when you graduate from "she fell over" , where people chuckle, to "she had a fall", and people worry.

Based on a minor incident in a car park last week, I am not yet old.

hesbeen2021 · 08/01/2022 10:13

I've noticed recently a few 'oh bless' comments when talking with retail assistants, bank workers etc
Not sure where it's coming from, I'm only early 60's, fit, healthy and normal weight

notacooldad · 08/01/2022 10:15

Old is when the soup of the day sounds like a lovely warming lunch option.
I'll never be old then.🤮

llansanan · 08/01/2022 10:16

When you see someone, or an actor/actress on tv or in film, and you can remember seeing one of their grandparents as a young person.

CounsellorTroi · 08/01/2022 10:18

One thing that does make me feel old is seeing international rugby players whose dads I remember playing.

RuthW · 08/01/2022 10:19

I'm 53. I'm not old. 40 is very young to me. Old is over 80.

RuthW · 08/01/2022 10:19
@BitchyHen agreed.

You are old when they say you have "had a fall" rather than just fell over.
Exactly this.

seekinglondonlife · 08/01/2022 10:20

When you start thinking everyone is very attractive, and think nothing of telling them so (because it's very innocent!). Saw one of ds'old school friends recently, and before I could literally think I told him how attractive he has become. I realized at that point that I've prematurely turned into my grandmother. Poor boy didn't know where to look.
