I agree with the Australian authorities.

You can't change the rules for one person!

Perhaps our government should be more like them!

TheReluctantPhoenix · 08/01/2022 17:19

@sashagabadon,

They don’t have to accept it.

Just test him for antibodies. If he has them, he is good to go. If not, Australia bye bye, hi to Dubai.

Roussette · 08/01/2022 17:25

The plot thickens... there are photos of him attending the 'Novak Tennis Centre' with lots of young kids, arms round them, close proximity.... on 17th December.
How can this be OK? He was positive with Covid at that point, according to him

@Blanketpolicy

Thought you guys would appreciate this 🤣

@Derbee

Djokovic is wrong. Even if we ignore his anti vax ignorance, there are 2 options.
  1. He’s lying about his previous Covid infection on 16th Dec
  2. He did test positive on 16th Dec, and was out at an event on the 17th, meeting fans and spreading his virus.

Either one is unacceptable

Agreed. He's a liar or an anti social covid spreader.

Either way he's reprehensible.

Beautiful3 · 08/01/2022 17:53

Australia is being unreasonable. Under their rules he was allowed entry. They accepted, then someone higher up was concerned about how it would look to others. They rescinded their authorisation.

SirChenjins · 08/01/2022 18:02

Someone higher up than Australia?!

StillSmallVoice · 08/01/2022 18:04

Team Australia.

That isn’t how a visa works, they’re accepted (or not) upon attempt to enter the country, the evidence you submit is just that, it isn’t a guarantee of entry.

Drongo Grin haven't heard that for years! Made me laugh!

Antibodies are not an acceptable proof for the exception - basically, it's just anaphylaxis.

That makes me feel quite sick.

It appears that after his positive test on the 16th December Novak went on his own personal superspreading tour.

First at the Serbian stamp museum on the 16th

Next at the Novak Tennis Center on the 17th

Then to a photo-shoot on the 18th

And finally (for now) a knockabout with kids on the 25th

JustUseTheDoorSanta · 08/01/2022 21:56

And he thought the crowd didn't like him before...

milkyaqua · 08/01/2022 21:57

You think the Australian Border Force don't know their own rules?!

SpindleyCrow · 08/01/2022 22:08

I can't say that this is looking particularly great for Novak Djokovic right now.

Things could change, but I think that's doubtful if the post 16th Dec footage is legit.

Cocogreen · 08/01/2022 22:09

"I had to laugh though at the pictures of “all his fans” camped outside the hotel. There were about 12 of them."

Must have some cousins living in Melbourne.

Raffleyourdoughnut · 08/01/2022 22:21

So Novak Djokovic knowingly was out potentially infecting people so he could get his exemption. That's not a good look at all.

It does seem he doesn't give two fucks as he is happy for his lawyer to announce it.

Zonder · 08/01/2022 22:40

He's looking worse and worse. I hope his 12 fans take note.

Choux · 08/01/2022 23:09

This situation is not playing well for his global sponsors as he is becoming tainted with this uncertainty. Is he looking for special treatment to enter the country? Falsifying that he had covid? Breaking Serbian quarantine rules? Is he an anti vaxxer?

The only part of this that is showing him in a good light is that he is in the regular detention hotel and not publicly complaining. Although his parents were Hmm

Am not sure Macron who wants to p*ss off the unvaccinated will be giving him any special treatment to get to the French Open either. Times are tough if you make your money in many countries around the world but don't want to (or can't) show you are vaccinated.

PurplePansy05 · 08/01/2022 23:54

The guy's been controversial to say the least for a long time. Now he's just bad news.

Obviously he still thinks of himself as a goldenboy and he always will, this is what happens when those around you glorify you unreservedly.

Australia has it spot on.

Curiousmouse · 09/01/2022 00:09

He is.

I wouldn't bet on the knowing the rules, no!
milkyaqua · 09/01/2022 03:14

^ Don't be silly.

Kennykenkencat · 09/01/2022 06:27

I think Australia has had a very lax approach to their own rules when it suits them

We didn’t see people like Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts and Ed Sheehan isolating in the quarantine hotel with everyone else.
