Mine starts jobs all over the house and never finishes them.
Tiled my kitchen floor, still not finished, started doing up daughters bedroom, he decided to take over and it's now gone on months.
Started working on the sitting, still not finished. Can't use the room.
Been like this since the summer or longer!!
I'm driven mad with it, fucking mad I tell you!

In the last few days he's started working on the bumper of his work van. Sanding, painting, priming, still not finished. He didn't have to do this!!!!!!!!

I just can't take anymore.

Uses literally every utensil and pot when cooking dinner. Hes a great cook so I'll forgive that one.

Gets salt everywhere. Like how??

Gooddog · 05/01/2022 18:38

Self appointed light monitor. If I leave a light on in my bathroom or office, he is on it like a flash. Drives me nuts. Yet he can fall asleep on the sofa with the lights on and that's okay.

PavlovsDoggie · 05/01/2022 18:39

I really don't have a lot to complain about, but things that annoy me are:

  • filling to kettle to max when making one cup of tea
  • buys largest size packet of biscuits (which is bad, because he'll have just one, and I'll eat the rest!)
  • when searching for things in drawers doesn't always put things back in correct place (my MIL found my bullet vibe in with the spare batteries over the holidays!)

@OhGiveUp

Asks me if I'd like a drink of anything ( at home ) I say no. Then it goes like... Him. Sure? Coffee? Me. No thanks. Him. Tea? Me. No thanks. Him. Water? Me. No thanks. Him. Can of cola? Me. FFS! I said I don't want a bloody drink of anything!!!! Him. I was only asking.

Drives me bloody insane!

😂😂😂 mine does this too!
Onelifeonly · 05/01/2022 18:40

Leaves rubbish by the bin.

Leaves crockery in his office, our bedroom and living room.

Never takes up the things I leave for him on the stairs.

Likes to talk over plans far more than actually starting anything (diy / house related).

Leaves dirty washing by the bed, not in the laundry basket.

Has to have a cup of coffee after every minor job or chore he has done.

Leaves his shoes beside the shoe rack in our hall.

Dumps everything he brings in the house onto the top of our hall cupboard when he comes in so I can't see any post etc that might have come.

Leaves cupboards, microwave etc doors open- why would you close them, after all?

Leaves the fxxxking lights on in his office and adjoining bathroom 99 times out of 100. It's on the top (third) floor and every evening I see the light from below and go up there repeatedly to turn them off - sometimes that's five lights if he has also left the light on in the eaves (storage). (Yes I know he will never learn if I keep doing it)

He does have great qualities too, but boy he can he be annoying!!! Plus our dds have taken on lot of his habits too....sigh....

BlondeDogLady · 05/01/2022 18:41

But in the car - he likes to park miles away from where we want to go. So in a supermarket we'll in the furthest reaches of the car park

Mine does this! He says it's because he doesn't want another car next to his, as they might dent it. Well, I do get that, but if there were 500 spaces and 200 were free, he would park at the far end of the empty area, iyswim.

Also trumps into the sofa a lot!!

penguinwithasuitcase · 05/01/2022 18:41

Picks at the skin around his nails while we're watching movies.

It's a stress thing - started when he gave up smoking - and he's a guitarist so his skin is so callused and thick there that nothing ever actually comes OFF.

He just sits there and it makes this little 'kah... kah.... kah' sound and makes me want to PULL OUT MY OWN EYES

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 05/01/2022 18:43

Leaving empty packets in cupboards and starting new things without getting rid of the old.

My Mum does this! Or if you’re offering something around, she’ll wait until the old packet/ carton/ bottle is finished, having declined at first, and then say “oh actually I will have some” once the new is opened Grin

BettyBag · 05/01/2022 18:43

He's a unique kind of areshole when he's ill. If he has any sense I feel sorry for him or am trying to look after him he bites my head off. Even if I offer him a brew which I do all the time he gets arsey if he's ill. He mollycoddles me to death when I am ill which is lovely.

This is extra annoying because all my friends with male partners moan about them turning I to whiny children at the merest hint of a runny nose and think it sounds marvellous to have a partner who doesn't want looking after.

MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 05/01/2022 18:44

@Chely

He tries to help but refuses to do things the way I like them done, I have OCD and he thinks it's funny to interrupt my little rituals too.
That's more than annoying. That's cruel.
MoniJitchell · 05/01/2022 18:44

Does random jobs that don't need done when I'm trying to do things that really do need done.

Eg- got home from a new year break on Monday, on Tuesday I was running around taking down Xmas Dec's, going shopping as we had no food in, ironing DDs school uniform, prepping packed lunch etc and DH decides to go into the cupboard and sort out all the old birthday cards into what needs kept and what doesn't, then goes outside and sorts out the box we keep the dogs stuff in and throws out some old dog jackets. WHY CAN'T HE JUST HELP WITH WHAT REALLY NEEDS DONE???!!!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 05/01/2022 18:44

Oh I park miles from the supermarket entrance! I prefer to be near the exit so we can make a quick getaway 😂😂

monsterflake · 05/01/2022 18:46

Over explains everything to my 6 year old DD who has the attention span of a flea. Gets irritated at her when she stops listening after three seconds and then at me when I say "DD, brush your teeth" and she gets on with it whilst he's halfway through waffling some story about how he has 615 fillings when he was 4 or some nonsense.

It's not that I'm not interested in his life experiences, just he isn't her dad and I wish he would just accept that I know my child and what she responds to.

My Dad was like this with my Mum. She had a few brain tumours when she was dying, and was easily confused. We told him to just take her first answer, but would he? Nope. He would ask her if she wanted toast. She would say "yes please", then he would say "or how about toast and marmalade, or toast and jam, or how about a fried egg on toast, or how about poached" On and on and on, until she became so confused by the myriad of options that she would scream for him to shut up. This would be followed by him being offended at her reaction, then asking why was she being like that, he was only trying to help, on and on and on.

MoniJitchell · 05/01/2022 18:48

Oh another one - leaves coffee and sugar granules all over the worktop everytime he makes a coffee Angry

IKidYouKnot · 05/01/2022 18:51

For me, it's DH interest (obsession?) with "Smart Home" technology. In general it is great when everything works, but when there is a problem it requires him to fix it and cause problems. Some recent examples:

  1. Ring doorbell video feed stuck in a loop, repeated alerts on my phone when there was one there (I do like that doorbell thing though)
  1. Can only turn on the Sky Box OR the TV, not both, need to power both OFF and ON again when this happens. Happens every few weeks!!
  1. DSis was house sitting for us a while back. She'd been watching porn on my tablet which I loaned her, and now all the stuff was synced with the SmartTV in the living room. Of course I'd initially incorrectly blamed by DD :(
MuggedByTheSleepThief · 05/01/2022 18:51

Performance yawning. I am pretty much homicidal about this. He would get an Oscar for this performance if they gave them for massively annoying over acting. Angry

Minniem2020 · 05/01/2022 18:57

Oh where to start lol
-Leaves his clothes on top of the closed wash basket, not in it,on it
-empty packets in the cupboard
-shaves & leaves the hair everywhere
-opens something new before the old 1 is done
-puts the sauces the wrong way up
-leaves his shoes in the hall at the bottom of the stairs for me to break my neck on
-takes 6 months to do any job at all

  • Does absolutely nothing to help in the house, I mean literally the only thing he does is take the wheelie bin out, that's it
I of course am completely perfectGrin
camperqueen54 · 05/01/2022 18:59

Where to start:
Opens bread in the middle
Never clears away ingredients after cooking
Walks around leaving things in a trail then says 'where's my,,,,'
Walks around whistling
When socialising he gets so talkative and won't let anyone get a word in.
There's loads more. Urghh!

TheCreamCaker · 05/01/2022 19:02

Starts jobs, never finishes them. He's got a motorbike in the shed that he bought about 10 years ago, stripped it all down, replaced various parts, spent hundreds - and he still hasn't got it working.

He puts the milk back in the 'fridge when it's got about a tablespoon of milk left in it (what's the point?)

He's very good in so many ways, and we've been married 41 years.

emilyintheSE · 05/01/2022 19:08

Gives the kids snacks all day every day, and crap snacks too like donuts, cookies, crisps. It drives me INSANE. No matter how many times I say please don't do it, he still does.

HeyUpits2022 · 05/01/2022 19:08

@Adm1010

Opens the bread by ripping it in the middle !!! Angry
HE DOES WHAT?!?

He needs a jolly good talking to about that.

he'd be under the bloody patio if he did that in my house

OhGiveUp · 05/01/2022 19:08

I've remembered another....
Crams the potato masher into the cutlery drawer, rather than the drawer underneath where it belongs.
I try to open the drawer to get a piece of cutlery out
Then end up in an angry tug of war, almost pulling the bloody thing apart.

thinkbiglittkeone · 05/01/2022 19:13

He is just so laid back everything seems to take forever, if he's in charge of getting DD out the door, it always feels like ages longer than needed.

Finishes jobs but never really tidies up properly after himself, so I need to go round after him or send him back again for him to do.

He does have loads of things that are good points, so we let him stay GrinGrin

PartyPlan · 05/01/2022 19:16

Finishes something and then doesn’t put it on the shopping list so I can buy a replacement, then asks where it is.

Uses a glass for water and then leaves it on the side. Then takes another glass for water and leaves it beside the original glass. Repeat multiple times. His record is 7 glasses in one day. Just use the same glass FFS.

Washes up 80% of the washing up and then leaves the rest waiting unwashed for no apparent reason.

Leaves the washing up sponge in the sink so it gets dirty and damp.

Leaves socks and toe fluff on the sofa.

Arghhh!
