To ask what the hell to do about my leaking arse!

alittlebitembarrassing · 03/01/2022 22:25

Exactly as the title says. Very crass but it is a literal pain in my arse and I’m starting to feel very unwell.

Backstory: I have inflammatory bowel disease and have had my large intestine removed. I had a stoma for 10 months and then a reversal surgery joining my small intestine to my rectum. I have mild proctitis left in my rectum.

A week ago, my anus started itching and leaking fluid. It has been getting worse and worse to the point I am leaking through my underwear to my clothes, I am uncomfortably wet all of the time and it is so painful to go to the toilet that I almost vomit from the pain and am just living by having cold baths.

The leaking is mucous, I’ve developed wounds on my bum cheeks from the dampness, and it is mixed with blood and green pus.

I developed abdominal pain with it two days ago so went to A&E who were useless, have referred me to gastro (no idea how long that will take), and told me my infection markers are raised so gave me antibiotics. Nothing else.

Today I have been on off sleeping and am feeling feverish and unwell in myself. When I was at A&E my heart rate was 120 and my blood pressure was high, but they said they weren’t concerned.

I am leaking massively to the point it’s not even just damp it is like water is pouring out of me.

I don’t want to waste another 8 hours in A&E to be sent home, but I’m feeling unwell in myself now, I can’t go to the toilet properly because it absolutely kills.

What do I do?!

Sending positive thoughts op

Wagsandclaws · 04/01/2022 00:29

Bloody hell the first thing. I thought reading the original post was SEPSIS!

Do not under any circumstances let them fob you off OP - you sound very poorly - thank goodness someone is taking you.

My Mum got sepsis whilst she was In Hospital for something else, they nearly lost her but luckily started her on antibiotics before the sepsis was even officially diagnosed.

I really hope they sort you out op, it sounds absolutely awful 😞 much love and let us know you are fixed up ? Good luck Thanks

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 04/01/2022 00:30

I do wonder if you've got a blockage or a rupture if it isn't sepsis. Doesn't negate the need for emergency attention though. Hope you get seen at A&E quickly Flowers
People don't realise how scary it is to need urgent treatment and it not be there.

rach2713 · 04/01/2022 00:31

I really hope your ok op

SquirrelG · 04/01/2022 00:32

You poor thing - it sounds horrendous. I hope you get the help you need soon. Flowers Aghast at the ambulance service in the UK though, it sounds seriously bad.

Notimeforaname · 04/01/2022 00:32

Best of luck op.

Many of us will still be here if you need some 'company' at the hospital. Flowers

PosyBoo · 04/01/2022 00:32

So sorry to hear what you’re going through - I’m so glad you’re going back to A&E. Hope they can do something to help you and you’re feeling better soon.

RantyAunty · 04/01/2022 00:34

Glad to hear you've got someone to take you. Sending positive thoughts.

sending good wishes with you, as you wait in A&E, OP. You poor thing. I'm so glad you got there - at least, I hope you are there!

Floralnomad · 04/01/2022 00:40

Hope you get seen quickly @alittlebitembarrassing , don’t be fobbed off ,

Scottishnewbie2022 · 04/01/2022 00:41

My god OP. Thinking of you, poor thing Flowers

GrandRapids · 04/01/2022 00:41

It's a bloody disgrace how you were treated last time. A pulse rate of 120, high blood pressure and you felt very unwell and they just sent you on your merry way?

The NHS is fucked.

SalmonEile · 04/01/2022 00:47

I really hope you’re ok OP

Mamanyt · 04/01/2022 00:48

Get you and your arse to A & E now. My son went through something like this, ignored it, and damned near died...he had developed an abscess near his rectum. He had to wear a pump attached to the abscess to keep the pus cleared so he could begin to heal. He will now have to have at least three more surgeries to fix this mess. DO NOT TAKE A CHANCE HERE!

Snugglybuggly · 04/01/2022 00:48

Hope all is ok Thanks

evilharpy · 04/01/2022 00:53

Please please don't let them fob you off in A&E. Really hope you are seen very quickly, OP.

SirVixofVixHall · 04/01/2022 01:01

@Flangeosaurus

You need to go back to A&E immediately because you are massively at risk of sepsis. I’m sorry, it’s shit. But you do need to go straight away
Agree.
SirVixofVixHall · 04/01/2022 01:04

Really hope you get seen quickly OP. I am very glad that someone is taking you in, this is absolutely an emergency situation.

FiloPasty · 04/01/2022 01:06

Hope you are ok op and being seen and helped

Griffo123 · 04/01/2022 01:07

If this isn't sepsis now it could be soon if you don't get the right treatment. Please go back to A&E urgently and demand treatment and raise sepsis as a diagnosis yourself if you need to.

TerriblyNaice · 04/01/2022 01:10

Oh you poor thing! Thinking of you OP Flowers

Unmerited · 04/01/2022 01:16

this. you ended up getting a lift because the ambulance couldn’t take you due to more severe emergencies which indicates you should have arranged a lift in the first place. Not being able to afford a taxi doesn’t warrant calling an ambulance

Sometimes being technically correct (and actually very potentially not as you don’t ‘call an ambulance’ like an Uber) doesn’t mean it needs to be said.

harper30 · 04/01/2022 01:16

Thinking of you OP, lots of us will still be awake I'm sure if you need to talk or want distracting while you wait. I hope you are ok

Andouillette · 04/01/2022 01:16

You poor thing, what an awful situation. I've had sepsis and it was very frightening though I was lucky to be treated by some very competent junior doctors who pumped me full of every antibiotic they could think of. Thank God for them because the senior doctors were useless and very unkind.
I hope you are getting the care you need and deserve and will feel better soon. All good wishes to you.
