To ask what the hell to do about my leaking arse!

alittlebitembarrassing · 03/01/2022 22:25

Exactly as the title says. Very crass but it is a literal pain in my arse and I’m starting to feel very unwell.

Backstory: I have inflammatory bowel disease and have had my large intestine removed. I had a stoma for 10 months and then a reversal surgery joining my small intestine to my rectum. I have mild proctitis left in my rectum.

A week ago, my anus started itching and leaking fluid. It has been getting worse and worse to the point I am leaking through my underwear to my clothes, I am uncomfortably wet all of the time and it is so painful to go to the toilet that I almost vomit from the pain and am just living by having cold baths.

The leaking is mucous, I’ve developed wounds on my bum cheeks from the dampness, and it is mixed with blood and green pus.

I developed abdominal pain with it two days ago so went to A&E who were useless, have referred me to gastro (no idea how long that will take), and told me my infection markers are raised so gave me antibiotics. Nothing else.

Today I have been on off sleeping and am feeling feverish and unwell in myself. When I was at A&E my heart rate was 120 and my blood pressure was high, but they said they weren’t concerned.

I am leaking massively to the point it’s not even just damp it is like water is pouring out of me.

I don’t want to waste another 8 hours in A&E to be sent home, but I’m feeling unwell in myself now, I can’t go to the toilet properly because it absolutely kills.

What do I do?!

@Floralnomad

Get your partner to drive you in , unless he’s taken an overdose of codeine he should be fine to drive .
This is not good advice, everyone reacts differently to opiates. There are warnings in the packaging for a reason.
Tulips21 · 03/01/2022 23:51

I wouldve suggested 999 tbh - You sound a lot worse than a few days ago and sepsis seems a real threat to you.

I hope you get picked up Asap

PrincessNutella · 03/01/2022 23:53

This is plainly a medical crisis. Go to the hospital and do not leave without them fixing it.

LordoftheDanceSaidHe · 03/01/2022 23:54

Do you have an ETA yet OP?
Sending best wishes for you. Ring again if needed

expat101 · 03/01/2022 23:55

Please be a squeaky wheel if the hospital goes anywhere near suggesting you be discharged. You need specialist help.

LouiseBelchersBunnyEars · 03/01/2022 23:57

Fingers crossed the ambulance gets there quickly op

alittlebitembarrassing · 03/01/2022 23:58

Ambulance said they’re too busy and couldn’t send one out. Someone is giving me a lift now

Good luck OP x

amusedbush · 04/01/2022 00:00

That's great news, I'm glad you can get in soon. Don't take no for an answer at the hospital!

GoldSilverGlimmer · 04/01/2022 00:00

Sudocrem for your skin, it does work wonders.
( I know thats the least of the problem at the moment, but sometimes these things are overlooked….lots of sudocrem)

Hope you’re in hospital and being helped by now, or on the way.

Suzanne999 · 04/01/2022 00:00

That’s good news. I suggest the driver runs into A&E and says they need a wheelchair fast. Make sure you give all your symptoms—- any rash, cold extremities, shivering, temperature etc…
Good Luck. We’re all wishing you well. Xx

MotherofPearl · 04/01/2022 00:01

Oh my goodness OP, I am horrified that an ambulance couldn't come out, though relieved you have a lift. I hope you get the urgent treatment you need.

Pugdogmom · 04/01/2022 00:04

Please update us on how you get onFlowers

BrocolliHamster · 04/01/2022 00:07

I'm so relieved you've found a lift OP, it's very concerning how unwell you sound from your description and it must havr been frightening to be told no ambulance could come. I hope your not waiting too long in A&E, you are in my thoughts Flowers

HiJenny35 · 04/01/2022 00:10

An ambulance does NOT get you seen any quicker at the hospital, it's myths like this that use up services inappropriately. At the hospital you are put on the triage list with everyone else. Obviously if you are the sickest person there you'd be taken straight in otherwise you just go to the waiting room. At the start of the tread you weren't as unwell and at that point really should have found another way, ie cab and your husband stop taking the pain killers so he could have collected you. There literally aren't enough ambulances at the moment it's over half an hours wait for heart attacks over 55 minutes for a stroke so if there's any way to get yourself there you should literally because every time you get to the top of the list there's a chance a higher priority case will come in and they will be diverted to that so you could have a very long wait when really you need to be seen as soon as possible.

SnapCackleFlop · 04/01/2022 00:11

Good luck, I really hope you get sorted and proper medical care. How horrible for you to go through. 💐💐💐💚💚

Star81 · 04/01/2022 00:13

Joystir59 · 04/01/2022 00:14

I hope you get the help you need and feel much better very soon OP

GlitterNails · 04/01/2022 00:15

Thinking of you and hope you get seen quickly. Terrible they couldn't send an ambulance.

Yaya26 · 04/01/2022 00:15

Don’t mess about with sepsis You can deteriorate v quickly. In 2010 I was very lucky to to be resuscitated. I was told only I was very fit I would have had very little chance of surviving it. Wouldn’t like to get it now - three kids later and very unfit.

MotherChristmas2021 · 04/01/2022 00:19

I'm worried for you OP. Please keep us posted. Much love & healing vibes to you. Flowers

this. you ended up getting a lift because the ambulance couldn’t take you due to more severe emergencies which indicates you should have arranged a lift in the first place. Not being able to afford a taxi doesn’t warrant calling an ambulance
