At primary school, we sometimes used to have "cheese puffs" for dinner. I'm fairly certain they were just puff pastry and cheese but I can't replicate them. They were kind of like a cross between cake and a Yorkshire pudding inside, and looked like a scone.

Cant find a recipe that looks right on google. I'm aware they have no nutritional value but I really want to taste these again. Anyone else have a silly childhood food like this?

(And if you know what I'm talking about and have the recipe I'd be eternally grateful Wink)

Does anyone remember SKY ice cream bars? I think they were around when ice cream mars etc first came out.
They had very similar to a spiral chocolate bar in the middle, and vanilla ice cream covering it, with a chocolate outside.

This toffee candy. Bought at any corner store in Canada. It is in a thick slab and we used to see how long we could keep it going.

What a sticky mess but so good.

LoveFall · 03/01/2022 22:20

Sorry photo didn't work.

McIntoshs toffee in the red plaid package.

lightisnotwhite · 03/01/2022 22:29

We used to have homemade black toffee during bonfire night. An amazing molasses confection.
Makes me sad that bonfire night is not really a thing now compared now compared to when a massive fire and a bit of history is brilliant. It’s just about excessive firework displays and people moaning..

Toast Toppers

ArblemarzipanTFruitcake · 03/01/2022 22:47

Powdered ice cream - came in vanilla or raspberry ripple. You could freeze it in the ice compartment of your fridge. We had it for high tea every Sunday in the summer in the days before we owned a freezer.

Football Crazy bacon flavour corn snacks, cost 2.5p!

Oh, yes! And Smax - similar to Fish'n'Chips but with a glorious flavour all of their own.

melisma · 03/01/2022 22:51

@UsernameNotSavedAgain YES!! I loved them even though the crunchyness of the frozen inner aero-esque log made them almost impossible to eat 😁

Inastatus · 03/01/2022 22:52

@irene9

There was 'orange juice' which was made from a powder from a sachet. We had it on Sunday mornings. Called Appeal or sunshine something...
@irene9 yes, Rise and Shine - I mentioned it earlier in the thread. We had it all the time. I’m sure it made us glow 😅

Haha so true! They were so nice. I just googled and there is a Facebook page asking for them to be brought back Grin

I bloody loved those!
Offmyfence · 04/01/2022 03:58

I remember the milk tray "bar" of chocolate. It was a lot of different flavour centres joined together in a bar.

There is something similar to that in Australia - Cadbury's Snack chocolate bar. It's all the cream centres in one bar.

Lakeland do ice-cream mixes in several flavours.

Hellas chocolate bars, with the filling that was like a layer of strawberry syrup.

vintage21 · 04/01/2022 09:43

Supermousse was supposed to be thawed but we used to eat it straight from the freezer. used to buy big long bags of them sweet sauce and a light mousse hardly more than couple mouthfuls
no one seems to have heard of it but at school we used to have jam and butter on Weetabix was delicious

Yep, used to eat them frozen as well!
Lucienandjean · 04/01/2022 10:25

@Flidina

Iceland used to do a tutti frutti ice cream in the early 90s it was divine. M&S prawn and spring onion spring rolls were to die for. Anyone remember Lyons cupcakes with really thick icing in lemon and orange flavour?
Oh wow, yes, I'd forgotten those cupcakes. I think there were chocolate ones too. I used to love trying to peel the foil case away without breaking off all the little points of icing.

We did this!
The latest weetabix advert shows them covered it in red jam!
It reminded me!

ScribblingPixie · 04/01/2022 10:31

I used to eat butter, cheese and chutney on Weetabix in the 70s - really nice.

MintyGreenDream · 04/01/2022 10:35

Findus French bread pizza was divine
