I see so many topics and conversations on here that just don't relate to my own life and experiences. Lots of well off women talking about their recent purchases from Boden or Uniqlo or some other place I can't afford to shop. Chat about dinner parties and holidays abroad. I'd like a site for mums and women on lower incomes as this site can leave a lot of us feeling left out of certain conversations.

Fwiw, I am not saying Boden is extravagance, but 8k hats and weddings that cost over and above the average (so more than 30k in the UK).

Atilla's crew are out in force I see

Surely, from the responses here its kind of proved OP's point? Many answers are so obtuse.

I'm not sure which are worse the sniggery snobbish "don't you mean netmums?" attempts to be funny? Or the "why don't you just shop in the Boden sales" ignorance?

I agree. The recent thread where the OP asked to hear from average earners is another good example.

For whatever reason, some people obviously really resent (and react very badly to) being told that their experiences aren't necessarily relatable to WC people / people on lower incomes.

The thing is that you will never get a forum where everyone has exactly the same experiences. The OP asked for a working class forum, where she can relate to people who can't afford holidays and other luxuries. I've seen loads of threads where people say they have 50p to last a week and they get lots of helpful responses, same with the Christmas on a budget threads. And for every "I spend 6 weeks in the Caribbean" every three months post there are 10 saying they haven't been on holiday since 1942 and it was to the end of their street.
And we need to be very mindful of the fact that the Internet affords the fantastist room for exaggeration.

No, but a board where WC people weren't routinely sneered at might be a start.

100% agree with this.
