I just rang them, my son was awarded LRC and LRM, until 2023 so happy to wait is over, that was stressful. Until next year.

mumof41992 · 03/02/2022 11:02

@Mumof406 aww your wait is over! Amazing news x

miracle081216 · 03/02/2022 11:18

Do you feel the LRC is correct for your DS? If he has social anxiety disorder and selective mutism, I'd expect him to need more than an hour per day of support, especially if he's on a reduced timetable and has been signed off sick from school recently. Would it be worth looking at a mandatory consideration?
Mumof406 · 03/02/2022 12:34

@Lougle oh I didn't know that ment he only needed an hour of care, he needs alot more than an hour of care. I'm not too clued up with all this, he was diagnosed when he was 6 and I've only just found out about dla for children.

Lougle · 03/02/2022 12:43

"You’ll get the higher rate of £89.60 if your child either:

needs care or supervision frequently throughout both the day and night, or
has been diagnosed as terminally ill and is not expected to live more than 6 months
If your child is terminally ill but their doctor expects them to live more than 6 months, you should talk to an adviser.

You’ll get the middle rate of £60.00 if your child either:

needs care or supervision throughout either the day or the night, or
gets renal dialysis twice or more a week
You’ll get the lower rate of £23.70 if your child needs extra care throughout some of the day (for at least an hour) but not at night."

So the difference is 'some' care Vs 'frequent care'.

Mumof406 · 03/02/2022 12:49

Oh ok, I might need to look into that as his 16 year old sister has to walk him to school, I pick him up, when we are out of the house he needs me or his sister with him at all times as he couldnt ask for help if he got lost or if an unexpected noise happened he would freeze.

Tiredautismmom · 04/02/2022 00:41

I have just received a payment from dla (guessing a backpay) but it only adds up to 8 weeks...they recieved the claim 18 weeks ago...Will be phoning them to find out what this is for

miracle081216 · 04/02/2022 09:45

@Tiredautismmom did you get any answers?

Tiredautismmom · 04/02/2022 10:17

Yes, woman said it is correct because it was up for renewal (which I wasn't aware of as son has been awarded until 2028) the dates work out so been awarded motobility from begining of December not end of September tbh its confused me but my partner worked it out and it is correct

miracle081216 · 04/02/2022 10:50

@Tiredautismmom that is confusing! Glad all sorted though x

miracle081216 · 04/02/2022 10:52

@Lougle you seem to have lots of experience can I ask you.. when awarded and money including back pay goes into your account is it from that date that you count 4 weeks to work out when your next regular payment is? X

Lougle · 04/02/2022 10:58

Yes, if you wanted it to start immediately after they received the forms you would have had to apply for a supersession of the claim. The risk with that is that if they decide to award less, then that would also apply from the date of receiving the form. Also, LRM is only allowed from age 5 anyway, so even though a child may satisfy the criteria, they have to wait until the claim is through to award it.

@miracle081216 you will get a letter which will set out the date that they will pay the back pay (you often get the payment before the letter) and the date they will pay the first payment into your account. Then it's 4 weeks from the first payment date (not the back dated payment).

ListsWonderfulLists · 04/02/2022 10:59

Can I join this thread? I applied for DLA for my son in November and my application was received on 23rd November apparently. I just tried ringing to find out when I might hear but couldn't get through. On hold for ages and then it just cut out. I sent them about 80 pages of evidence which was slightly ridiculous but I'm hoping we get it!

miracle081216 · 04/02/2022 11:03

@Lougle ah I’m so confused thank you though see I had the payment and the letter but it was a backdated payment so I don’t know when the regular payment is coming in next sorry if I’m not making sense x

miracle081216 · 04/02/2022 11:03

@ListsWonderfulLists good luck we are all here supporting you and each other x

Sjf1398 · 04/02/2022 11:13

I’d like to join in with you all too, my daughters new claim was received 14th December so we’ve only been waiting 7.5 weeks. Though it’s such an anxious wait and seems I’ve probably at least another month before I receive a decision.

miracle081216 · 04/02/2022 11:29

@Sjf1398 welcome.. don’t worry we’ve all been there and some still are we know how you feel and there’s great people here 😊x

PuddlePip · 04/02/2022 11:39

@Lougle what is a supersession? I'm waiting on a change of circumstances, the current claim is awarded until 2026. Would that also apply to me?

Lougle · 04/02/2022 11:57

Yes, a change of circumstances is a supersession. The award can go up or down and will apply from the date they received your forms.

ListsWonderfulLists · 04/02/2022 12:08

Thank you @miracle081216 and good luck @Sjf1398. The wait is so painful isn't it?

mumof41992 · 04/02/2022 14:35

Hey guys. Hope everyone gets there texts/letter soon. I was told by the end of this week still haven't heard anything as yet🤞 and well done for everyone who has had there's and managed through the anxious wait. ❤️xx

Mumof406 · 04/02/2022 15:55

I never got a text but they told me when I rang up yesterday, good luck all x
