Hi everyone I have just applied for my son who has Hypermobility and Global Development Delay also been assessed for ASD he is only 2 and a half - I’ve been reading this thread and a lady whose child had the same sort of issues was refused DLA my claim form has only been received today so not expecting to hear anything for a while (sent recorded delivery). We have a letter supporting evidence sent from a paediatric consultant to say he has been diagnosed with both Hypermobility and Global Development Delay and he also mentions the assessment for ASD. Any advice would be greatly received. Thank you

miracle081216 · 01/02/2022 19:40

@Ilovemychildren123 you’ve done what you can don’t lose hope if someone else was refused because it depends on who looks at your form. My daughter was refused twice and on 3rd attempt was awarded high rate so it just goes to show it depends who’s desk it lands on! My daughters forms were all the same the only difference this time is her new school supporting me good luck 🤞 x

Ilovemychildren123 · 01/02/2022 19:48

@miracle081216 thank you for your reply hopefully won’t have to wait too long but people saying between 8 and 16 weeks. Our son isn’t at nursery or school so no supporting apart from evidence from our paediatric consultant fingers crossed. Glad you got sorted eventually sad that it took 3 attempts though

miracle081216 · 01/02/2022 20:14

@Ilovemychildren123 paediatric consultant is good evidence to have I don’t have anything! CAMHS assessed her didn’t take it further so it was just based on me and the school! Yeah waiting times are crazy! Mine was received 9th November and I had my decision 10 days ago! Keeps us posted and stay positive 🤞 x

Ilovemychildren123 · 01/02/2022 20:16

@miracle081216 thank you will keep you all posted fingers crossed 🤞 x

Been 18weeks waiting yesterday...going to call again next week to see what's happening...

Sunnyshine12121 · 02/02/2022 22:20

Hi all have anyone done a mandatory reconsideration!? What's the waiting times like for this please I have sent a letter from the school so hopefully this helps along with my letter and doctors report of my sons diagnoses. Thanks in advance

Lougle · 03/02/2022 06:52

@Sunnyshine12121 I did for DD2. Complete refusal was converted to MRC and LRM. It took about a month.

Ilovemychildren123 · 03/02/2022 07:07

@Sunnyshine12121 I’ve been reading the thread and my son has the game as yours Hypermobility but my son has been diagnosed with global development delay too can you tell me what evidence you submitted as I saw you didn’t get it and wondering if I will be rejected for it too. Any help much appreciated x

Sunnyshine12121 · 03/02/2022 07:46

@Ilovemychildren123 my son is being assessed for autism and sensory processing disorder also hypermobilaty fine and and gross motor skill problems I sent in just a report from the doctors with what his problems are but I have now sent in more reports for doctors and a strong letter from the school in support of what I am saying to dla department about him my son is 10 so really stands out what he is unable to do for himself and the melt downs he has. They tried saying are fine for his age but even my 4 year old can do most this my 10 year old can't do

Ilovemychildren123 · 03/02/2022 07:57

@Sunnyshine12121 thank you for replying to me. My son is only 2 and half so may get the same outcome that you have but I did send in a letter from the paediatrician we are under which says diagnosis of global development delay and Hypermobility. Our son can’t even say mommy or daddy or hi or wave or clap his hands etc. I have everything crossed for you that you get a reconsideration x

Sunnyshine12121 · 03/02/2022 08:03

@Ilovemychildren123 I meant to say he is only being assessed for autism they rest of it he has been diagnosed with already x also good luck 🤞 it just seems to me like some of them don't even read the forms

Ilovemychildren123 · 03/02/2022 08:04

@Sunnyshine12121 yeah I hope our form lands on someone’s desk who is thorough x

Mumof406 · 03/02/2022 09:23

Do they always call you before deciding on whether to award it or not and do you always get a text to inform you?

miracle081216 · 03/02/2022 09:43

@Mumof406 no not always my friend didn’t get call or text x

miracle081216 · 03/02/2022 09:44

@Mumof406 I only had the call because my form was late and he wanted to know why (now I know that he had already decided to award it but needed to know what date to back date it too) x

Mumof406 · 03/02/2022 09:45

The waiting us stressful, mines been with dm for a week today

Lougle · 03/02/2022 10:41

If you're doing a mandatory reconsideration, pick their decision letter apart sentence by sentence and point out the things that you stated in the form that contradict it, then compare with a child of similar age.

Example:
"In your decision letter you say that you think Fred can dress himself independently. However, I told you in my claim form that Fred can only pull on a loose pair of trousers. Fred cannot put on well fitting clothes or clothes with buttons or zips. Fred can't put on a pair of jeans or a coat. He is 10 years old. Most 5 year olds are able to dress independently."

miracle081216 · 03/02/2022 10:52

@Mumof406 I know it’s so hard got everything crossed for you!
