I usually keep them but over the years there's so many feel bad binning them but I hate clutter and junk

OP posts:

Take the backs off and use them as shopping lists and bin the fronts.

CremeEggThief · 29/12/2021 12:59

Recycle.

glimpsing · 29/12/2021 12:59

Cut them up and use for gift labels.

happystory · 29/12/2021 12:59

Give them to my friend's nursery for toddler cutting practise!

GameofPhones · 29/12/2021 13:01

Use them as bookmarks.

Vegetalienne · 29/12/2021 13:03

Thankfully we only get a few from older family members. They’re put in the recycling straight after opening.

Georgieporgie29 · 29/12/2021 13:05

I cut them up and use as gift cards for next years presents

MrsSkylerWhite · 29/12/2021 13:06

Bookmarks, notepaper for lists, etc, sometimes gift labels.

Used to play snap when the kids were small. Cut the fronts off and separate into generic groups, santas, snowmen, robins, churches, etc. because the pictures aren’t exactly the same, you have to think about it a bit more and it’s much more challenging than regular snap for slightly older young ones, 5/6/7.

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 29/12/2021 13:06

Keep them for my year R class to cut up next December Grin

foxgoosefinch · 29/12/2021 13:09

I keep them - plus a pair of pinking shears - for DD to cut up and make gift tags out of the following year! I used to love doing that. Have you got any local junior church group which might enjoy doing that and might take them?

MerryChristmas21 · 29/12/2021 13:10

Put them in a bag with the year on the front & keep them, they really don't take up much room and I love looking through some at Christmas & remembering past friends/work colleagues/neighbours etc

Reminders of life events (read one the other day from my close friend from when my DH & I moved into our first house together) .

& I really treasure the last ones from grandparents, aunties etc who have since died.

Why?
MarshmallowFondant · 29/12/2021 13:14

Recycle. I have no desire to keep Christmas cards forever and ever.

duvetdayforeveryone · 29/12/2021 13:16

Cut the front off, punch a hole on each top corner, then thread together to become bunting Smile

girlmom21 · 29/12/2021 13:22

Chill out!

I just imagined you receiving a card, binning it , pursing your lips and muttering about anyone daring to send you card. Sounds pretty joyless to bin immediately.

romany4 · 29/12/2021 14:29

I recycle mostly.
However, I got my first as a grandparent this year so I'll be keeping that forever.

I would too😊
shipgig · 29/12/2021 14:35

Usually keep the funny ones and ones from immediate family. I recycle the others.

firstimemamma · 29/12/2021 14:36

Cut in half, hole punch corner and thread with ribbon - gift tags for next xmas.

Poppins2016 · 29/12/2021 14:37

I use the front of cards as labels for the following years presents. They look rather pretty against brown paper and the classic red and white butchers twine. Bonus points for recycling the cards as labels, plus you can recycle the brown paper if you use it (many wrapping papers can't be recycled).

BiscuitLover3678 · 29/12/2021 14:39

These days I keep the ones from close family or where there’s a good, heartfelt message. A lot get recycled and I cut out the good pictures for craft and future Christmas cards.

qualitygirl · 29/12/2021 14:39

@Vegetalienne I do the same...I hate clutter. I have a very minimalist house and I don't have mantelpiece so I open, read them and pop them in the bin. I'm not sure what people expect me to do with them Confused
