It's hardly 'ripping their face off'.

Doesntfeellikexmas · 27/12/2021 11:32

Oh op give over its plasticine people.

phishy · 27/12/2021 11:32
@ladyvimes Yes!! That advert!!
That advert is for Amazon Music, OP, not the Amazon website.

SagittariusDwarf · 27/12/2021 11:32

Stop looking for things to complain about and go and have a mince pie or something Hmm

SpiderFluff · 27/12/2021 11:33

I mean I find the puppets a bit creepy but still. Nothing wrong with it for the age of the game.

Theremoresefulday · 27/12/2021 11:33

Just seen. He’s 6.

The terms and conditions say you have to be 13+ to play.

Your complaint will go nowhere.

BingBongToTheMoon · 27/12/2021 11:33

How is that advert worth a complaint?
If you allow your 6 year old unfettered access to apps etc then it’s entirely YOUR fault he got a “fright”.

SpiderFluff · 27/12/2021 11:34

@NeverDropYourMooncup

It's hardly 'ripping their face off'.
Yeah I was expecting gore or something sudden and jumpy to happen
WallaceinAnderland · 27/12/2021 11:34

App Store it says from 4+ (I checked yesterday as I was incredulous) and he is 6

4+ is to indicate the age that a child would be able to operate the app.

The same way as many children's toys have 18m+ on them.

It's not the same as a content rating.

idontgetpaidenoughforthis · 27/12/2021 11:34

"The App Store says 4+ I checked it"

The rating is for the app itself NOT the advertising content, which, as others have repeatedly posted, comes under the terms of service.

inappropriateraspberry · 27/12/2021 11:35

That is not a scary advert! And clearly an advert for a specific Amazon product, not for the generic website.
If he's getting really upset about it then you need to work with him. It is animated, not CGI and not at all realistic.

Theremoresefulday · 27/12/2021 11:35

I’ve watched the video. It isn’t at all what you describe.

Perhaps ask for a grip for next Christmas?

SoniaFouler · 27/12/2021 11:35

Did nobody see the screenshot @PolkadotsAndMoonbeams posted?

If an app says suitable from 4 that’s to be expected, not suitable from 4 but really, 13 Confused

It's hardly 'ripping their face off'.
Having see the advert in now wondering if the child in question thinks it's scary because the adults in his life don't seem to be able to differentiate between an animated Skelton and a horror film.

Honestly that advert is absolutely fine and probably would be shown on childrens TV as there is nothing remotely scary about it. Some of the stuff in cartoons is worse than this advert.

TellingBone · 27/12/2021 11:36

Does he get upset when Bugs Bunny shoves Wile E Coyote off a cliff?

sst1234 · 27/12/2021 11:37

That ad reminds me of the movie Coco OP you should really not mollycoddle your child so much.

WallaceinAnderland · 27/12/2021 11:37

You made a mistake OP, that's all. If the t&cs say you need to be 13 then you obviously can't complain.

Doesntfeellikexmas · 27/12/2021 11:38

That's the app. Not the adverts.
MsAgnesDiPesto · 27/12/2021 11:41

Oh god. It’s Plasticine. No gore at all. I was picturing The Witcher or something.

The Shaun the Sheep show for kids on Christmas Eve had a dog’s skeleton showing when he was electrocuted. I don’t think anyone’s complained about that.

OP, given you know this upset your child, you need to be much more careful about how he interacts with the internet. Make sure he only plays games with no ads, under a child profile and not yours, and make sure you are around all the time.

Sportsnight · 27/12/2021 11:41

It would be the Advertising Standards Agency for a complaint, not Ofcom.

Justkeeppedaling · 27/12/2021 11:42

I'd be more concerned that the ad shows two teenagers jumping off a high building than the "face ripped off" bit.
It's a weird ad, and I think not intended for a U.K. audience, so odd that it popped up in your child's game (unless you're not in U.K.), but I find it strange that it scared your child so much.

DartmoorChef · 27/12/2021 11:42

I've seen scarier kids programmes.. that ad isn't remotely scary.

Essexmate · 27/12/2021 11:44

I can’t believe that’s the advert 😂 was expecting a slasher type thing

SoniaFouler · 27/12/2021 11:46

From the POV of a child I think it’s kind of scary. He was really shook up about it and refused to play any more.
