AIBU curmudgeonly husband telling me off

Husband very comfortable with loud music (former DJs) live in detached, no kids, I let air horn off when heavy tune dropped, he turned into dad. It’s Boxing Day, letting my hair down, after me calling him a hypocrite, many sweary words, he flounced off to bedroom. AIBU to continue with very loud DnB & Jungle along with drinks & dancing around the living room like a maniac, while he sulks?

Op I can't fault your taste in music but I can't recommend enough that you alternate between an airhorn and a megaphone now and then, it's great fun and I use mine to call the kid down.

RicherThanYew · 27/12/2021 10:51

@NarcissaMalfoysManicure I am led to believe that Eyeball Paul prefers House to Jungle.

nitsandwormsdodger · 27/12/2021 10:55

If I remember correctly from my theory yeast No horns should be sounded between the hours of 6-6

Tal45 · 27/12/2021 10:56

I'm seeing you in the basement of a mansion at the decks with a santa hat on throwing yourself a Christmas party for one. I'm also 46 and not sure whether to be horrified or in awe.

whyarentiskinnyet · 27/12/2021 11:08

I think this is awesome thread. I'm 49, husband 50 and we have kids but we play loud d&b, house and old skool rave tunes and have kitchen discos on our own, not that loud as we are end of terrace so we don't disturb the neighbours(!) but can't beat a kitchen disco from time to time - once a raver always a raver! We don't have any air horns but can't imagine DH sulking if we did and I let it off!

🙌 🥳

Graffittiunderpass · 27/12/2021 11:17

@wyleee

Everyone should have a rave horn to celebrate the dropping of an extra large tune. Those who don't have no sense of occasion.
This ✌️✌️
jetadore · 27/12/2021 11:18

Sounds like he needs to take a chill pill.

NarcissaMalfoysManicure · 27/12/2021 11:24

@RicherThanYew ah yes of course he does! Sash or chicane?

(Haven’t watched that for years, used to love it Grin)

RussianSpy101 · 27/12/2021 11:32

You sound amazing OP. Hope you’re not feeling too ropey this morning! Merry Christmas (too late?)

whoamitojudge · 27/12/2021 11:59

Surely you can’t have a rave without some glow sticks? 😂

crispsarny · 27/12/2021 12:33

Yes Yes! Big up all the crew inside the ride Xmas Wink

No hang over, I rarely drink, paced myself, so at the most will feel a little sluggish later on.

Hope you are all well & making the most of the festive period Smile

@PlanktonsComputerWife

Respect. Even Adolf Hitler didn't play jungle music at this hour.
Can’t believe I missed my hero Father Stack Wink

@Theremoresefulday

Detached with neighbours within half a mile?

I’d be most displeased if you were setting off air horn and loud music near me at this time of night.

Quite, unless the OP’s house is fully soundproofed or they live very rurally, the neighbours will still be able to hear.
KurtWildesChristmasNamechange · 27/12/2021 12:52

@Toomanyradishes

I have no children and no airhorn, im either doing sex or shopping wrong
😂😂😂
user1457178042 · 27/12/2021 13:01

I'm glad I waited til you said what it was before passing judgement, all I can say is you ought to have had one airhorn in each hand

bedheadedzombie · 27/12/2021 13:53

@crispsarny

LOL you only live once
Well yeah, but that's no excuse to fuck someone elses life up though. They only live once too. An air horn is so loud, you might want to check if your detached neighbours really don't hear that.
NurseButtercup · 27/12/2021 14:01

@oftenbaffled

Op

What the heck made you think mumsnet was an appropriate forum to kick off this discussion looking for support?

I mean, even if you’d never read a single thread, surely the very name “mumsnet” would give you a hint

Less support more for the shifts n giggles and it worked!! I'm pmsl at this thread Xmas Grin

I'm gutted I didn't see your post last night ...I would have joined you in a virtual party egging you on to sound that air horn every 30seconds...

My contribution to the music rotation would HAVE to be Incredible by General Levy Merry Xmas Xmas Grin

crispsarny · 27/12/2021 14:26

@CounsellorTroi & @bedheadedzombie

Oh lol I’m the good neighbour round here, the others are far more anti social than I ever am, I live in a multicultural town with regular celebrations which spill out into the community, it’s live & let live round here. I look out for my neighbours, they are very unlikely to be impacted by my Boxing Day festivities due to our positioning & barriers, I have previously done sound checks but judge away, I expected it from the self righteous members of mumsnet.

Yousexybugger · 27/12/2021 14:34

OP can you make this a regular thing please, a DJing thread with music recommendations??

crispsarny · 27/12/2021 14:38

@user1457178042

I only used it once for like a couple of seconds 😂 he introduced me to the bloody things along with DJ’ing! We’ve had huge fireworks going off behind us every night for weeks in the build up to Christmas, some at 1am in the morning, then massive displays over the past couple of days. I love NYE here as it is amazing for fireworks, people spend a fortune on them round here. In the scheme of things me letting off a air horn indoors is hardly hurting anyone is it? I was just a bit surprised by husbands reaction as he is normally very encouraging of these things.
OP posts:
Lwren · 27/12/2021 14:41

If you let off an airhorn as my next door neighbour I'd knock on your door, with my face filled with uv makeup and we'd get mangled together OP. You probably haven't ruined anyones life letting an airhorn off. If you have, then they have led a very charmed life prior to you 🤣

crispsarny · 27/12/2021 14:45

❤️ @NurseButtercup Happy Christmas, what a tune, love General Levy
have you seen this one of him, teaching the young uns how it’s done 🙌🏻
