To ask how you view the months of the year in your head?

thesailsaflow · 26/12/2021 22:22

When I think about the months of the year in my head I view it as a clock, like january js 1, June is 6 etc. I view it in my head like that, however, upon speaking to a couple of my friends about this tonight, they said they just think about it like a list. Wondering if anyone else thinks of it like I do?

How different people's brains work is something I find fascinating! Thank you OP!

I found out on one of these about 5 years ago I have aphantasia!
I had naturally assumed for 43 years that was normal Grin was real WTF... People can see stuff?!

I mean this stuff being talked about more is brilliant!

BobGalaxy · 26/12/2021 22:40

Was talking to DS about this earlier! He had no idea what I was on about Grin mine is in a horizontal line left to right, so we are just about to start again on the left. Weeks go Mon - Fri straight ahead, then on Friday you turn right into the weekend. Sat/sun are a short straight like, then on Sunday you turn right again into the new week, so always in a perpetual rectangle.

JanglyBeads · 26/12/2021 22:40

This is fascinating, I had no idea people had these ways of visualising such things!

Any psychologists around?!

RedSnail · 26/12/2021 22:40

I have aphantasia, I don’t view anything in my head.

Savingpeoplehuntingthings · 26/12/2021 22:41

Horizontal line. January - March are blue, April to September are yellow and Oct to December are brown.

BasiliskStare · 26/12/2021 22:41

Is this a form of synesthesia - so I see the days of the weeks in colours or vertical days or horizontal days - (Tuesday & Thursday are horizontal days yellow and red ) - no one can convince me other wise Grin

Jan and Feb are vertical months to me - Dark Green and Blue - March is white. June - August are horizontal months more light red yellow etc )

Not the best explanation but here www.webmd.com/brain/what-is-synesthesia

MsAgnesDiPesto · 26/12/2021 22:41

@DustyMaiden

A circle around me, it’s written on the inside, it would go from December back to January.
This is me! In fact not just months but weeks and days as well, they look a bit like the roads on a Monopoly board with the date at the top and a space under for things. The weeks and months have their own colours. I can whizz the calendar around me to go back and forth through the year and see the weeks and days. I think it’s a form of synaesthesia for this to be so real and visual and to have colours associated with it.
Groapple · 26/12/2021 22:41

This is fascinating!
I see it as a horizontal line with pale colours reflecting the seasons and small seasonal images. They are split into seasonal, 3 month blocks. Due to the school year dominating us it starts with September, not January.

I can't even understand what you mean by viewing something in your head. It's an alien concept to me

Allsorts1 · 26/12/2021 22:42

Also days of the week are on the same road into the distance as the months are, but just zoomed in if you are thinking about the next week. With the weekends more prominent.

Glad I am not a complete freak! (Or maybe we both are…) 😁

reluctantbrit · 26/12/2021 22:43

As a line from left to right but for me I associate them with events/temperatures.

Jan-March - cold, dark, damp

April - Easter

May/June - sun, flowers, warm-ish

July/August - Summer/holidays

September - I don't want it to be autumn yet

October - change of leaves,

November - too dark

December - lights

MonicaGellerBing · 26/12/2021 22:44

Like a square

Just10moreminutesplease · 26/12/2021 22:45

@Keepitonthedownlow

Haha *@Toadsinholes* I'm a rolling hiller too!! I use my concentration and effort to get to summer and then slide into autumn and winter. LOL
Me too! Except everything from October to January are multiple hills (Xmas is highest!) with a gentle slope downwards for the rest of the year.

It’s not set out equally either. Both Xmas and the six weeks holidays take up far more than their fair share of space, while February to June is quite small (despite it being a good few years since I left school Grin).

Chardlettuce · 26/12/2021 22:45

The year is an athletics 400m track.

July is at the starting line, December on the opposite side.

The months on the straight edges (summer and winter) are much longer than those on the curved edges (spring and summer).

Totorosfluffytummy · 26/12/2021 22:46

A "U" shape.

We're at the top of the left side now, December.
Then we jump over to the top of the right side for January.
The whole of the bottom of the U is August.

NarcissaMalfoysManicure · 26/12/2021 22:46

Like a 3D timeline, I can “move” along it, holiday dates etc are a different colour

Underthestairsbears · 26/12/2021 22:46

Very similar to this

To ask how you view the months of the year in your head?
CheeseMmmm · 26/12/2021 22:47

Not really deliberately thought first few months year before.

My brain goes words said but just passing through January February March and know but don't see they are vertical list.

I can if wanted draw a box round them. Not put a whole box but, hard to describe.
Drawing a box round like finger on paper so no marks or whole box it's the down across up across. Starts in top right of box but could be any point if wanted.

At the same time and totally just comes while only thinking month names.
Sense of cold wind blowing, bare trees, snow on ground blowing around a bit, that sort of smell of cold/ cold face feeling. Bitter cold on back of neck getting down a bit under clothes.

Really? So how do you think? Like how can you think without viewing something? Not being rude and I completely believe you I just can't imagine it.

@Whenasuitcasejustwontdo

Three rows, Jan to April, May to August then Sept to Dec. Like a calendar!
Yes,I do too
BoudecaBains · 26/12/2021 22:49

I've worked shift pattens, including nights, my entire working life so I see each week differently to most people. My weekend can be on a Tuesday/Wednesday and I can slump into my bed at 9 am.

Awrite · 26/12/2021 22:49

@clolo

Mine is an oval on its side, January at the top left and then it goes anti clockwise. For some reason August is bottom middle
Exactly the same as @clolo, exactly the same. Spooky.
Iamanicepersonreally · 26/12/2021 22:50

I don't understand how people can view things in their head. I think in words, I can't see how else it's possible to think
