To ask how you view the months of the year in your head?

When I think about the months of the year in my head I view it as a clock, like january js 1, June is 6 etc. I view it in my head like that, however, upon speaking to a couple of my friends about this tonight, they said they just think about it like a list. Wondering if anyone else thinks of it like I do?

Linear and stretching from me and into the distance with whichever month I'm in right in front of me. I look back at the past in the same way. Like a long road I'm travelling.

PumpOutTheBilge · 26/12/2021 22:29

I imagine a lobster with the back left hand leg being January, working round leg by leg to the December on the back right hand leg. The claws count for two months each, bottom half and top half.

As a hill/slope I think. January and February....very low, flat, dark

rising up to April & May brighter and lighter

On a level until July, steadier, longer days, good weather... then it's birthday season...dh is at the end of July and we all follow on from there.

September starts closing in, October November, more birthdays so happy, family, warmth.

Then December and Christmas is right at the top of the hill!

cleowasmycat · 26/12/2021 22:30

Like a season Calendar in 4 quarters.
Top left - March, April, May
Top right- June, July, August
Bottom left - Sept, Oct, Nov
Bottom right - Dec, Jan, Feb

It's really fascinating to have a window into other people's minds this way!

Xiaoxiong · 26/12/2021 22:31

In my mind's eye, Jan through March are horizontal, blocked next to each other. Then April through September are stacked under March, and then it goes to the right again from Sept through to the end of the year. So it looks like a Tetris block.

I have absolutely no idea why.

The days of the week are a little like this too, in my head Mon through Weds are on the left stacked on top of each other, thurs fri on the right stacked above each other, then Saturday and Sunday are side by side just under Friday. I think this comes from my homework diary at school that had this layout!

In colours blurring into each other along a line For example
December is red
August is sunshine yellow
October is orange

Palavah · 26/12/2021 22:31

A list top to bottom

Keepitonthedownlow · 26/12/2021 22:31

Haha @Toadsinholes I'm a rolling hiller too!! I use my concentration and effort to get to summer and then slide into autumn and winter. LOL

BulbasaurusRex · 26/12/2021 22:31

Horizontal timeline, a 3D calendar almost. They don’t have colours but some months are darker in my head (difficult to explain, my visual memory isn’t great!)

Animood · 26/12/2021 22:32

@Frizzyhairhelp

A circle too but Christmas at 6pm with my summer birthday at the top Grin
Yup same. Winter at the bottom summer at the top. Too blue summer orange.
MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 26/12/2021 22:32

Jan feb mar April may June July
Aug
Septemberoctobernovemdecem

Hope this posts properly

Wellthatsit · 26/12/2021 22:32

Mine is a line starting top right and travelling down and to the left, and also away from me in a 3D kind of way. It's hard to describe.

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 26/12/2021 22:32

And it didn’t. Might need to draw a diagram.

DramaAlpaca · 26/12/2021 22:32

A horizontal list, in black lettering on white. It moves along from left to right like an old fashioned typewriter ribbon.

Skeumorph · 26/12/2021 22:32

Straight down in a vertical line Jan- Sept, then it goes horizontal Sept-Dec. So like an L shape.

Xiaoxiong · 26/12/2021 22:33

@Yika and @MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry yours seem a bit like mine actually!!

Xiaoxiong · 26/12/2021 22:33

And @Skeumorph too!'

tiredanddangerous · 26/12/2021 22:33

Horizontal line like a timeline

Just asked my husband about this. We both see it as a grid. Weird.

Obsidiansphere · 26/12/2021 22:33

I don’t think about it at all…I must be weird 🙈🤣

itscoldinhere · 26/12/2021 22:33

As weathers in horizontal line

Eg January I imagine fields covered in snow, grey skies, snow falling, cold winds, frost etc. Not that this often actually materialises IRL but it's what I see. July for example is set on a beach and it's hot and no wind and everything is bright.

When I think of a month eg now thinking ahead to my birthday in April I scan through the weather scenes I have until I see April and it's flowers in a field, butterflies etc.

Macaroni46 · 26/12/2021 22:33

A kind of V shape with a flat bottom for august. January is at the far left at the top, followed by Feb below it etc.
The v shape is not even. The left side is a shallower slope ending with August on the flat at the bottom. Going upwards in a steeper slope on the right starting with September ending with December.
It's linked to the school year hence August at the bottom.

Glitterblue · 26/12/2021 22:33

Kind of like a clock but backwards so December is at 12 o'clock, March is at 9, June is at 6 and September is at 3.

Days of the week are in a line reading from right to left.
