To ask how you view the months of the year in your head?

When I think about the months of the year in my head I view it as a clock, like january js 1, June is 6 etc. I view it in my head like that, however, upon speaking to a couple of my friends about this tonight, they said they just think about it like a list. Wondering if anyone else thinks of it like I do?

In a row, from left to right but also grouped in seasons too.

tootyfruitypickle · 26/12/2021 22:34

Circular here with august at the bottom

Great thread OP. I had no idea people thought about this differently

pastabest · 26/12/2021 22:34

In colours

Jan and Feb are orange

March is pale blue

April is Yellow.

May is lilac

June, July and August are like a pink/maroon colour. I really struggle to remember any appointments/ dates in these months. I call them my 'non months' as they all are basically the same months to me.

September is a lovely chestnut brown colour.

October is grey

November is black

December is a glittery black.

chiefcha · 26/12/2021 22:34

Horizontal timeline going left to right. I see a week the same way.

duvetdrama · 26/12/2021 22:34

@PotatoOfTheNight horseshoe for me too...have never ever thought that other people might see it differently! Horseshoe shape with Jan at one end (left) and December at the other end. Summer months up at the top at the curve. So interesting...going to ask everyone I know this now Grin

uptheantrimcoast · 26/12/2021 22:34

Like an interactive Game of Life playing board from the game. But a straight line. Each day has its own block and the important dates have something special about them that I just can't describe.

Daisy4569 · 26/12/2021 22:35

Circular but going anti-clockwise rather than clockwise Confused

Blueeyedgirl21 · 26/12/2021 22:35

I see it as what I do during those months so: January I see as a bit blank and bleak, February is cold so I just picture a snowy day, March is associated with certain birthdays, etc

I am a bit weird with how I picture and plan things in my mind!! Everything has a ‘feeling’ or sort of general vibe attached to it

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 26/12/2021 22:35

Hopefully this works

To ask how you view the months of the year in your head?
Deliaskis · 26/12/2021 22:35

Circle line a clock here too, but actually anti-clockwise, so NYE at 12 and Jan to left, Feb then March ending at 9pm... carrying onto June which ends at 6pm.... autumn is the bit heading from 3pm beach to to midnight.

Now I'm describing it, it seems bonkers! I don't know why it's anti- clockwise.

Mombie · 26/12/2021 22:35

This is so interesting. I think of them in a linear way but similar to another poster only the month before, present month and month following matter. Others are in a sort of blurry haze. Also, some months are more important than others for e.g March and June, I couldn’t give a sh*t about those but July is summer and October is all autumnal and Halloweeny.

tootyfruitypickle · 26/12/2021 22:36

Days of the week horizontal line for me

Deliaskis · 26/12/2021 22:36

Oooh cross-posted with @Daisy4569 Grin

MurciaMarmalade · 26/12/2021 22:36

I see it as stairs, January is the first step with December at the top and each year I start back at the bottom.

Daisy4569 · 26/12/2021 22:37

@Deliaskis glad it’s not just me!

NatashaBedwouldbenice · 26/12/2021 22:37

I see it as a circular shape too. January is about 1 o’clock and the months go clockwise. My birthday month and September are quite prominent and April-June are a bit out of focus.

CandyCane17 · 26/12/2021 22:37

Mine’s more of an oval. Genuinely don’t understand how/why my brain has spilt the months the way it has (they don’t take up an equal same amount of space on the oval for some reason) but if someone says “September” I can visualise exactly where it is on the oval.

BellaChagall · 26/12/2021 22:38

I view it visually. It's hard to describe it, but it's a bit like a C backwards. So starting with Jan at the end of the top part of the C, moving round to Dec at the other end.

Cap89 · 26/12/2021 22:38

@ShowOfHands

Linear and stretching from me and into the distance with whichever month I'm in right in front of me. I look back at the past in the same way. Like a long road I'm travelling.
Exactly how I see it!!
Allsorts1 · 26/12/2021 22:38

I think of them like almost calendar squares going proceeding in a horizontal line into the distance starting from the month I am in at that time. Not completely squares but definitely physical zones/concept.

NatashaBedwouldbenice · 26/12/2021 22:38

The days of the week are elliptical. Monday at the top down to Friday at the bottom then back up along the left hand via the weekend.

Underthestairsbears · 26/12/2021 22:39

Ooh we had this thread about a year or so ago but it's fascinating.

I see it as a circle with the summer holidays at the to and winter holidays at the bottom, so not equal but September is at one o'clock and then we turn downwards through 2-5 o'clock through Autumn and then 6 o'clock is December. Then Jan-March takes us to 9 o'clock and the rest of the months up to 12 o'clock in August....

Sounds confusing doesn't it but I think I may have seen it on a picture in primary school when I was 4-5 years old, the seasons were on it too as they are in my head... also in colours that relate to the seasons.

Allsorts1 · 26/12/2021 22:39

@ShowOfHands oh a road is a much better explanation!

Smokeahontas · 26/12/2021 22:39

Like this

Jan August
Feb September
March October
April November
May December
June
July

Down the first column and then across to the second. I don’t know why it’s uneven.

Isthatthebestyoucando · 26/12/2021 22:39

A long line I could walk along.
