Because if you voted Leave you are too stupid to be in business and don't deserve my sympathy.

Pumper - I can't speak for any of the other "Arms" regulars but once a deal was finally signed, we moved on.

From my end, however the Brexit Deal went, I was prepared and ready to tighten my belt. After nearly 2 years of 'Global Pandemic' completely unrelated to Brexit I'll be tightening my belt as much as I have ever had to in my 59 years of life, more so than ever as I have a young adult autistic ds to care for too. And we'll get through it.

Seems the bored Leavers here really need to have more to worry about in their lives if this Thread is their main worry in life.

I've opened up my own fireplace (the price of gas!!) and now chuck logs on my own fire to keep us warm.

Job done, eh? Have you name changed since then? I was on there a fair bit and don’t recognise your username.

It's the people who gave Johnson his eighty seat majority that I feel aggrieved towards. Johnson and his govt. are ludicrous people, one and all, yet people were taken in by that utter fool. Always calling him Boris ffs. Like he was their mate.

I'm in the North of Ireland and that bloody government - we don't vote for Conservatives here - have terrorised us by threatening to trigger Article 16 when the vast majority of people here support the Protocol and want it to work. I can't wait for the day when we finally have no more Tory govt, interference in the island of Ireland.

Kendodd · 22/12/2021 19:34

@LastSummerHere
I'm so sorry for the shit we have created for you.
Worse thing is, we all know triggering A16 will be done for and by people who don't give a single shit about NI.

LastSummerHere · 22/12/2021 19:47

Ken I live in hope the very close eye Biden's govt. is keeping on things will keep Truss in check going forwards. If the Protocol goes, the Union is finished because the Ireland WILL reunify. We will walk away from Tory Brexit Britain.

Andante57 · 22/12/2021 20:40

I very rarely mock others

Really Peregrina? I remember you as being one of the chief mockers to anyone who disagreed with you on the Brexit threads.
You knew you could join in the ganging up on and sneering at anyone who dissented as you had the support of all the other regulars so safety in numbers.

Peregrina · 22/12/2021 21:11

i am certainly not loathe to point out the flaws of Cameron, Johnson and Co. Is that mockery? I don't think so.

Andante57 · 22/12/2021 21:21

Sneer away at politicians to your hearts content - that’s not what I was referring to, and I think you know it.
When you knew you had the support of all the regulars on the Brexit thread you thoroughly enjoyed joining in the ganging up. That’s why you posted mainly on that thread.

THisbackwithavengeance · 22/12/2021 21:24

@Tianatiers

I don’t at all blame the people who voted to leave. I only blame the person, David Cameron, and members of his party who were so desperate to win an election that they gave the decision to the masses who, on the whole, had absolutely no idea of the implications of their decision. Absolute shit show.
The only sensible comment on this thread.

As soon as DC announced a referendum, I knew the outcome would be to leave. It was so obvious.

On the whole, most people have no idea how the economy works despite those on MN who are all armchair experts.

People in poorer areas voted Leave because they saw jobs and housing being taken away by East European economic migrants.

People in richer areas voted Remain because they didn't want to lose their cheap domestic staff and liked the area of retiring to the Algarve.

All self serving.

Peregrina · 22/12/2021 21:24

I post on Remainer threads because that is what interests me.

Lonelycrab · 22/12/2021 21:25

Meh. Peregrina doesn’t post like that, and anyway isn’t this getting a bit personal? You’ve wonConfused can’t you get over it?

bellinisurge · 22/12/2021 21:28

Had to endure plenty of nasty bullshit on here from the Arms residents. Predictable Brexit consequences are doing a nice job of rubbing their nose in it without any help from me.

TheHateIsNotGood · 22/12/2021 21:34

No name change by me pumper, been here for years as this name and a few years before that by names I can't remember.

IME most jobs are never "done" - logs burn out, roads need resurfacing, people divorce, babies are born and etc, etc, etc. inc Brexit and Covid.

To expect that all things remain static is impossible given we live on a Planet that constantly revolves and evolution is a widely understood concept.

Ergo - whilst the EC, EEC and even EU were great concepts that were part of an evolution that was positive; there are counters to this and for the UK population, overall it became a negative.

bellinisurge · 22/12/2021 21:35

Was going pretty well for NI until Brexit fucked it up.

TheHateIsNotGood · 22/12/2021 21:40

Hi bellini - glad you're still alive and kicking. Yes, it's true that some in The Arms were a bit rude to you sometimes, but then you are a sensitive soul that dishes it out but can't receive the same back.

Still, I likes you and don't think I was ever rude to you.

PinkiOcelot · 22/12/2021 21:43

How did they have multiple opportunities to change their minds. I had one vote. How many did they have?

bellinisurge · 22/12/2021 21:46

Hi Hate. Yeah, I used to call people rats and demand they were exterminated all the time, didn't I. Such a happy sweet natured bunch of mates you had there.

Cheerychirpy · 22/12/2021 21:50

Just be glad that you don’t live in Scotland, under the permanent threat of independence which has been estimated by one of Nicola Sturgeons own economic advisors to be 10 times more damaging than Brexit. We have to listen to a constant stream of such breathtaking nonsense from the SNP such as:

  1. The rUK will pay for Scottish pensions following independence.
  2. The SNP finance minister stating that she doesn’t think we really need to be able to do quantitive easing.
  3. The Scottish finance minister stating that the taxes currently raised in Scotland more than cover devolved day to day spending in Scotland. It’s true. They do, but what they taxes raised don’t cover are things like pensions, and welfare benefits, and other rather important sort of things which make up approx 40% of all spending.

Its so stressful. I just feel that my life is in the hands of the sorts of people that fall for this nonsense - currently about 45% of the Scottish population.

FreedomFaith · 22/12/2021 21:58

I dunno why anyone actually believed the stuff the politicians told us about brexit. Do you also believe in santa? Nothing a politician says is true, if they have their mouth open, they are lying.

I voted remain because I don't see the point in changing something that is working in favour of the unknown. This was always unknown. What would you do if I gave you a bet of a coin toss, if you win you keep your house, if you lose I win your house. You going to take that bet? Of course not. This was always going to either make no difference to some, or ruin your life.

Glad that Scotland didn't go independent. Remember back in 2014, snp stating we could use the oil to live. Now they are against the oil industry. What the hell would we do then? And our taxes are going up while being in the UK, dread to think how high they'd go with independence. Again it's an unknown option and I don't like that. No proof of a good future? I don't vote yes.

I guess the OP's sentiment should apply to anyone who didn't vote LibDem at the last election, as they were the only major party that pledged to stop Brexit.

Pumperthepumper · 22/12/2021 22:12

@TheHateIsNotGood

I don't know what you're talking about really bellini, if you do then that's great. We need to eat more fish is my best advice.

As far as NI is concerned, despite being used by the EU as a little ball to play with, like a petulant child that didn't get their own way, it seems:

The murderers in NI haven't killed more people than most other places for quite some time. Murderers are everywhere, but thankfully it seems that Murder isn't as acceptable in NI as much as it used to be. And neither Brexit nor the EU has jack shit to do with that.

It's a bit grotesque to draw Brexit into why people in NI used to murder their neighbours when it's nothing to do with it.

I think this will probably be deleted, but I just wanted you to know I’m genuinely shocked that you posted it. I think you might mean that pesky little peace treaty, and to suggest it was irrelevant to Brexit is just so, so ignorant. I can’t actually believe that you believe that.

The UK farming and fishing industries have been constantly complaining before we joined the EEC, during our membership, and since we left.

Plus ça change.
