Or is all wrapping paper rubbish this year?

I’ve bought loads from different places and it’s all been crap. Flimsy, so so thin, or alternatively creases horribly or stops sellotape sticking to it.
I like heavy duty brown paper generally but since I use this all the time for birthdays etc , the children think Santa would use something a bit more glam.
Where do you buy nice wrapping paper?
(Preferably in generous quantities so not individual sheets)

After the year that DH bought this www.express.co.uk/life-style/life/748584/tesco-christmas-wrapping-paper - nah it's absolutely fine.

I'm still finding bastard glitter now.

LubaLuca · 20/12/2021 22:14

Sostrene Grene, but it's brown paper with simple designs on it so not at all glam. It's good quality though, and their paper tape sticks it well too.

Very happy with waitrose wrapping paper, nice enough pattern, good enough weight - not mind blowing but it's long enough too - and after going round every flipping shop in the town centre in my quest for the paper you describe, I've formally given up.

FrenchyQ · 20/12/2021 22:18

Costco paper is good, it's double sided as well.

We bought some beautiful paper from Oxfam this year, it’s made me want to actually wrap nicely rather than my usual slapdash approach. Lovely recycled printed brown paper, I can’t find a picture online but we had black and blue versions and they look fantastic. Finished off with string and Kraft tape. Poncy but beautiful

I like Ikea wrapping paper. Good and sturdy and interesting designs

buckleten · 20/12/2021 22:22

You need Costco wrapping paper - massive rolls that last for years, double sided design, and really really thick!

nearly4o · 20/12/2021 22:23

Next with penguins on and one with unicorns . Very nice quality

LittleRoundRobin · 20/12/2021 22:23

Mine is superb. From Studio Cards.

DSGR · 20/12/2021 22:23

I’m loving my Waitrose and John Lewis paper. Good weight, lovely designs, not wrapped in plastic and all recyclable

lisaandalan · 20/12/2021 22:24

Costco is great and double sided. X

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 20/12/2021 22:25

I got wrapping paper for my DDs from TK Max. It’s lovely and thick! Textured too.

I remember this! My then MIL wrapped everything with it. I swear when I sold the car I had at the time it was still coated it in after a full valet

Yes we bought from ikea this year too. So far it's great, very sturdy and nice prints.
galacticpixels · 20/12/2021 22:28

The wrapping paper I got from Tesco this year was awful. Trying to wrap with it was exhausting.

Other paper I got from Aldi was fine.

HAHAHA I had this in 2015 and the glitter was literally everywhere. Avoided it the following year. Wow can’t believe how long ago that was now
Karwomannghia · 20/12/2021 22:29

My sister got some gorgeous wrap from tkmaxx- red shiny with vintage Santa and another one with Xmas tigers.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 20/12/2021 22:29

I’ve got Waitrose (both cheap and mid-range ‘recyclable’ ones) this year and they’re absolute garbage. Last year weren’t so bad, not great but not this bad.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 20/12/2021 22:30

I think I bought that shitty dog one too Blush

TippledPink · 20/12/2021 22:32

I bought ours from Wilkos- nice and thick, but I bought it last year in the sale. I also bought some thinner paper from Wilkos- for father Christmas presents. You can normally tell just by looking at it how thick it will be

Geneticsbunny · 20/12/2021 22:38

I am using secondhand headscarves scarves from local charity shops and eBay and scraps of fabric cut into squares. Apart from the stockings where I am using crap wrapping paper

Jazzyjeffery · 20/12/2021 22:39

I've got some utter shite from sainsburys habitat range. It's stuck with stickers round it rather than being plastic, fair enough, but oh my god it's so bastard hard to unwrap and leaves torn bits at edges from the stickers. Clearly the buyers never actually tried to use the stuff! Flimsy too. Will get something better next year.

earsup · 20/12/2021 22:39

Bought peppa pig and paw patrol paper, in sale a few years ago for 10 pence a roll...have tons of it....everyone gets that for xmas and birthdays !!..not a lot on a roll tho.

Nanasueathome · 20/12/2021 22:41

I’ve splashed out and bought fabric wraps this year
Lots of festive ones about and should be able to reuse

DockOTheBay · 20/12/2021 22:42

Can't say I have noticed this, I have wrapping paper from co-op and its fine.

Babipur wrapping paper is great quality and recyclable but costs a bomb.
