The sooner we all admit this, the better. You're just lying to yourselves if you say otherwise.

The worst are the people who say "oh but if you fry them with bacon and crack cocaine they taste great." No. That is the bacon and drugs being worsened by this green hell.

Let's admit this once and for all.

Bacon and crack cocaine Grin

I don’t mind them. I don’t think they taste bad, I just don’t think they are a taste sensation either. But my DP loves them. Would eat them every day quite happily.

GaolBhoAlba · 19/12/2021 23:58

I love them. They need to be firm though, soggy sprouts give me the fear!

MrsBobDylan · 19/12/2021 23:58

I will not eat sprouts.

I will not allow anyone around me to eat them either. Ditto baby cabbages, baby trees or whatever else you mad buggers call them.

What is the difference between sprouts and bogeys?

Kids will eat bogeys.

Nuff said.

Isthatthebestyoucando · 19/12/2021 23:58

I really like them. I haven’t tried fresh bought attached to a stick version, I think they’re supposed to be even nicer.

somehowsunshine · 19/12/2021 23:59

I love steamed sprouts!

My 7 year old son also loves sprouts.

FAQs · 20/12/2021 00:00

I eat them all year round! Had them with lunch today. Grin

MrsBobDylan · 20/12/2021 00:00

@bumbleymummy

I love them! Grin Did hate them when I was younger though. Did I read somewhere that they’ve been bred to taste better over the years???
This has made me smile - I think sprouts are grown rather than bred Grin
LemonMuffins · 20/12/2021 00:01

I really like them. Fried with garlic, honey and balsamic. They're just mini cabbages really.

maddy68 · 20/12/2021 00:01

Sprouts are my favourite veg

FlowerArranger · 20/12/2021 00:02

If I could only eat 3 vegetables for the rest of my life. ...

  1. Sprouts
  2. Broccoli
  3. French beans or peas - can't decide...

But sprouts would be my Desert Island Disk vegetable Wink

astorsback · 20/12/2021 00:04

I love them boiled or roasted and drizzled with butter. They have a lovely nutty flavour. I love them with chopped chestnuts.

WildStallyn · 20/12/2021 00:06

I love them!

JaneJeffer · 20/12/2021 00:07

They're delicious!

gofg · 20/12/2021 00:11

I like them now and again - wouldn't fancy them for Christmas dinner though. Fortunately as Christmas here is in summer that doesn't happen Smile

Lorw · 20/12/2021 00:20

I think most people don’t like them because they’ve been overcooked.

Sprouts are delish, boiled for a few mins and served with salt and pepper 😁

FluffyBooBoo · 20/12/2021 00:23

I will not allow anyone around me to eat them either

Umm, what? So you are in a restaurant and someone on the next take has veg on their plate that you don't like. What do you do?

Dita73 · 20/12/2021 00:23

They’re fabulous! One of the best things ever is a bowl full of sprouts with loads of salt and mayo. Heavenly

Megan2018 · 20/12/2021 00:25

I don’t like them boiled, but love the way DH does them.
I didn’t like them until I was 35 years old though! So it’s a relatively recent phenomenon (am 43).

blameitonthecaffeine · 20/12/2021 00:25

She is the only kid who you could pick up from school and say "Guess what we are having for dinner" and she wouldnt say pizza/takeaway/maccies.....she'd shout "SPROUTS!" with glee

Oh, wow! I'm on the 'sprouts are awesome' side but that has to be one of the most mumsnetty, middle class sentences ever uttered! Grin

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 20/12/2021 00:26

No I love them. I would have a double helping of sprouts and skip potatoes

I've never read anything so deviant in my entire life.

I don't like sprouts but my one kid who doesn't like veg really likes them Confused so I guess some people do like them!

Onelifeonly · 20/12/2021 00:27

I love them.as long as they're not overcooked. Need to have a bit of bite in them.

KurtWildesChristmasNamechange · 20/12/2021 00:27

😂😂😂

Peckhampalace · 20/12/2021 00:29

Love them, as do rest of family. Grow our own, last year ate them regularly from Dec to Apr :-)

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 20/12/2021 00:29

ClareBlue yeh if they're big I usually do.

AliceMcK · 20/12/2021 00:30

My DH loves them, but hates cabbage. I love cabbage but will only eat them if they are put on my plate.
