The sooner we all admit this, the better. You're just lying to yourselves if you say otherwise.

The worst are the people who say "oh but if you fry them with bacon and crack cocaine they taste great." No. That is the bacon and drugs being worsened by this green hell.

Let's admit this once and for all.

So true. The only time I’ve enjoyed them it’s cos they’ve been cooked with something else (bacon, cream, possibly crack) and in all honesty the dish would have been improved with the removal of the sprouts.

Gousto need to have a word with themselves. Their festive menu is littered with the bloody things. I did not expect the festive burrito to have sprout salsa. I’m not joking.

Love them, just steamed. I won't be happy if I don't get 8 with my Christmas dinner.

WorraLiberty · 19/12/2021 22:49

My husband likes sprouts but he didn't come clean about it until after I married him Shock

I'm sure that's grounds for annulment Hmm

I mean what else is he holding back? That he likes to eat his own shit?

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 19/12/2021 22:49

Love em, even cold the next day

PhoboPhobia · 19/12/2021 22:49

DH and I both love them and eat them often. If they’re 30 seconds over Cooked they’re vile. Love them roasted with some pancetta.

SophieHatterPendragon · 19/12/2021 22:49

Roasted with some bacon and blue cheese mixed in. Amazing.

Waitwhat23 · 19/12/2021 22:49

Absolutely love them, they are my favourite vegetable. And I like them boiled until they are soggy - none of that bacon/chestnut stuff for me!

FictionalCharacter · 19/12/2021 22:49

I like them, so do DH and DS. They have to be cooked right though. They’re horrible if overcooked.

Passthecake30 · 19/12/2021 22:50

Can’t stand them. I was force fed them as a child - having to eat as many as my age. They are awful, bitter things. And I love most veg.
My ds loves them. Freak..

BurntO · 19/12/2021 22:50

My oh loves them, will eat them steamed. He has steamed them then fried them in garlic and butter for me and they were GOOD

MondeoFan · 19/12/2021 22:51

I like them. Infact I eat all veg except Peas

Porseb · 19/12/2021 22:51

Love them - buy them weekly when in season so that I don't only get to eat the over Christmas Grin

Ruthietuthie · 19/12/2021 22:51

My husband LOVES them. If we are watching a movie, he steams a bowl full, tops them with a squeeze of lemon juice and olive oil, and eats them like popcorn.
I only like them oven roasted, with balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, bacon and hazel nuts. They are absolutely delicious that way. REALLY good.

NannyR · 19/12/2021 22:51

I love them - delicious tossed in a bit of olive oil and cooked in the air fryer so they go a bit charred, but still have a bite.

Griefmonster · 19/12/2021 22:52

I don't understand the drama about them.

It's cabbage. What's wrong with cabbage?

I like them best when shredded or quartered and fried in butter and a tiny amount of stock or water. But steamed for 5/10 mins whole also good. Boiled to mush not ideal but I'd still eat them.

LostThePot · 19/12/2021 22:52

I love them!

MadeOfStarStuff · 19/12/2021 22:52

I used to feel obliged to eat a maximum of 3 sprouts with my Christmas dinner but then realised I’m an adult and live alone so can please myself and so I no longer buy them.

IWishIWasABaller · 19/12/2021 22:52

We love them in this house and eat them all year round ! Frozen from Iceland boiled for a few mins with a stock cube yum Grin

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 19/12/2021 22:53

Oh i love them. As long as they’re cooked well they’re delicious.

Steamed, with olive oil, garlic and salt, yum!

Steamed, with lots of butter, shoogled about a bit, plenty of salt and pepper. Yum!

Sautéed, roasted, boiled, in a gratin, in bubble & squeak...the list goes on and on!

HDready · 19/12/2021 22:54

I love them - there’s several great recipes for them in the green roasting tin book.

lynntheyresexswappers · 19/12/2021 22:54

My favourite part of Christmas dinner!!

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 19/12/2021 22:54

Food of the gods. They’ve been my daughter’s favourite since when she was small enough a sprout to her was like a cabbage to a grown man.

Son however thought they were Satan’s bogeys. Until, when working in a pub kitchen, discovered pan fried sprouts with chestnuts & pancetta. Even when he was vegan he’d make a concoction with smoke paprika, garlic and amino acids (don’t ask me what, it was vaguely dark & sinister looking in a Worcester sauce looking bottle).

We had sprouts tonight (boiled, nothing fancy with bacon or otherwise). Dash of nutmeg, nice.

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 19/12/2021 22:55

I’m another who eats them all year round. I’ve usually got a bag of sprouts in the freezer so I’ve always got them to hand.

Youngatheart00 · 19/12/2021 22:55

I love them! So tasty!

FluffyBooBoo · 19/12/2021 22:56

I do enjoy brussel sprouts.

I do wonder how someone can label them 'vile' and follow that up with 'never eaten them'.. if the latter is true, how can you possible know?
