To say there is no worse Christmas film than Last Christmas? SPOILER WARNING

I stuck this on for a bit of background while wrapping presents and oh my goodness, it’s SO BAD. Obviously I don’t want to ruin it for the rest of you but SPOILER ALERT it’s about a woman who becomes a better person because she falls in love with the ghost of her heart transplant donor.

Can anyone top or rather bottom it?!

i never even made it halfway through Last Christmas. So dull.

orangejuicer · 15/12/2021 13:03

Oh god I really enjoyed Castle for Christmas but then my bar is set really low!

Metheven · 15/12/2021 13:05

It was dreadful! I second a previous poster that Love Hard is brilliant.

mumda · 15/12/2021 13:10

@WheelieBinPrincess

Ooh I watched this last night!

It’s really boring.

Chances are she’d only live another five or ten years or so after that so it wasn’t really a happy ending.

With such a chaotic lifestyle I assumed she wouldn't be on top of her required drug regime to stop rejection.

It was nice to hear Last Christmas even if it was a bit mangled at times. Poor George.

hangrylady · 15/12/2021 13:13

You're not wrong. I saw it the other night and it's a shocker. Not even saved by Emma Thompson and Emilia Clarke. The Christmas film I truly hate though is Elf.

Abracadabra12345 · 15/12/2021 13:14

@Chocolatewheatos

YABU I bloody love it!
Same here! My favourite recent Christmas film! Love the wisecracks, the sarcasm, the London location shots, the heart warming story, the music...It’s a Christmas film
PanettoneSeason · 15/12/2021 13:15

@mincepiesallround I’m so glad you made this thread OP 🤣 Last Christmas was going to be my movie of choice for tonight 😳 can I highjack the thread a bit? 😬 Christmas With The Kranks was my other option - is it better? 🎄

PicaK · 15/12/2021 13:16

I really enjoyed it, actually.
It's offensive and family friendly.
Your spoiler otoh is really mean and horrible.

Well a couple of us bloody love Last Christmas but we went in not knowing anything about it and completely open minded which is no longer the case for you Grin

Justwhy123 · 15/12/2021 13:17

I loved Last Christmas! Unexpected storyline and the music, well…just amazing! (Love George!)

Why was “A castle for Christmas” so offensive to Scottish people?

MeatyRvita · 15/12/2021 13:20

It’s probably the worst yes… but somehow I kind of enjoyed how absolutely shit it was Blush
I also guessed the ending way before it happened, but didn’t think that would actually BE the ending as it would be way too shit/cringe lol!

EerieSilence · 15/12/2021 13:20

I actually really love the movie, it's funny. A bit different. Really hate The Elf and don't want to watch it again but I really liked Last Christmas, the story was fun, liked the characters (the Sauerkraut guy, Santa etc.). The xenophobic fun "I blame the Poles." and the lesbian pudding.

BashfulClam · 15/12/2021 13:26

My mum spoiled it before I watched it. She was over and said ‘we went to see last Christmas, he was dead and that was a surprise!’ She had taken my teenage niece. She knew I hadn’t seen it and I said ‘when I’ve not watched it yet you di know that?’ She said ‘yeah but he’s dead.’ Thanks mum.

mincepiesallround · 15/12/2021 13:27

@PanettoneSeason Christmas with the Kranks, for me, falls under the ‘so bad it’s good’ bucket. I would choose that one! But opinions are mixed here.

I’m definitely putting Santa Girl on my list Grin

I have the feeling I'll probably love all of these Blush

PanettoneSeason · 15/12/2021 13:31

@Abracadabra12345 🤣🤣 I have a feeling I would have been in your group had I not seen this thread first tbh 😅🤣

RocketPanda · 15/12/2021 13:32

It's a wonderful shite life is the worst Christmas film imo.

TheKeatingFive · 15/12/2021 13:32

I turned Last Christmas off it was so bad.

I always wonder with films like that, it had a very strong cast. Why the fuck did they sign up to that drivel?

DrManhattan · 15/12/2021 13:34

I watched A Christmas Number 1.
The worst film of all time, let alone Christmas! So joyless and the script was tragic.

NotSorry · 15/12/2021 13:35

We love the Princess Switch films - they're so bad they're good Grin

beardeddragon174 · 15/12/2021 13:36

I watched it because I love Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding but not even they could save it really.

HohohoCoughCough · 15/12/2021 13:36

I love that film. I watched a film on Friday about two sisters waking up and being in a Christmas movie. Was so boring.

PollyPeePants · 15/12/2021 13:40

It was pretty bad and I will watch anything!
A Castle for Christmas was fucking dreadful. Why on Earth not get an actual Scottish man to play the lead or at least someone who could do a convincing accent? And the inappropriate use of Scottish slang words had me cringed inside out.

IamMala · 15/12/2021 13:40

Love Actually is way way worse and cringesome! But yeah, Last Xmas is also quite bad...

HelloTreacle9 · 15/12/2021 13:41

I really enjoyed Last Christmas and love Elf and Love Actually. I love cheesy Christmas crap. But that might be the inevitable accompanying Stone's Ginger Wine. Although I DO balance it out with an annual viewing of The Vicar's Wife with David Niven and Cary Grant while I'm wrapping. It's much better that It's A Wonderful Life.
