To think that the vast majority of people would think that allowing rapists to self ID as women is completely batshit?

The people all over Twitter jumping to defend the rights of men to force everyone to refer to then as a woman, after raping them with their actual penis... Just wtf?

But no, JK Rowling is a bigot for highlighting this nonsense.

She shared this article about the Scottish Police who want to #bekind to the poor rapists and also fuck up all the statistics. The tiny % of sexual offences carried out by women doesn't take much to skew.

@daimbarsatemydogsbone

YANBU I suspect most ordinary people haven’t been following this too closely.

I do worry though - we had a long car trip at the weekend and DD (13) reeled off a long list of reasons to hate JKR - this anti-debate approach seems to have a lot of traction with younger people.

It's just like the Chinese cultural revolution.
Fidgetty · 13/12/2021 16:42

YANBU. In real life no adult I know would agree with this. It's only people who spend an inordinate amount of time on social media who get sucked in to trans ideology. However that unfortunately means the younger generation are particularly susceptible. It's the perfect storm of over use of the internet mixed with limited life experience/critical thinking skills. We can only hope they grow out of it!

The adults going along with it - politicians/policy makers - are usually woefully uninformed and simply think this is the latest social justice bandwagon they can jump on. If you asked them in private if they truly think a rapist with a penis is an actual woman they'd surely never agree?! It's actual insanity that it has come to this and has made me become incredibly cynical about the intelligence of the human race. It appears I had vastly overestimated it.

lifeturnsonadime · 13/12/2021 16:51

Anyone who thinks that it is OK to mis sex an adult human male who uses his penis as a weapon to rape another person (mostly women) is a rape apologist.

The number of men on twitter who are bending over backwards to vilify JKR for pointing out the obvious is absolutely disgusting.

It is clear that the only kind of 'women' who matter to these misogynistic men are the adult human male kind.

Putting the feelings of the rapist above those of the victims is unforgivable. A person is not raped by a gender identity. It is a thing that only an adult human male can do (with very limited exceptions in this country). What special feelings make an adult human male rapist who has weaponised his penis not a man?????

I am so angry about this.

Elsiebear90 · 13/12/2021 17:01

The thing that gets me the most is their arguments aren’t even logical, for example, if you say that anyone can be a woman, all they have to do is “believe” they are one, there is no genetic, hormonal, physical, behavioural etc requirement, then you’re changing the definition of the word woman from “adult human female” to something undefinable, a meaningless belief. If the term woman can mean anything then it is meaningless.

There are so many of their views and arguments that defy logic, but this is the main one that really made me start questioning whether people (including myself) are just blindly accepting this ideology without even thinking about what they’re defending or arguing for.

VestofAbsurdity · 13/12/2021 17:05

It is clear that the only kind of 'women' who matter to these misogynistic men are the adult human male kind.

It's also clear that these misogynistic men don't truly believe that those 'women' are women, they are just delighted and getting a thrill from the absolute misogyny and hatred of women being enacted.

lifeturnsonadime · 13/12/2021 17:10

Absolutely, they wouldn't give two hoots about them and their gender feelings being hurt if they were really women.

LegoPandemic · 13/12/2021 17:12

JKR is a heroine.

Helleofabore · 13/12/2021 17:14

The 9 or 10 people voting YABU will be the same as always. And they will not post a coherent reason as to why. Some have attempted to in the past, with a huge amount of snideness flowing out of the words. However, they never seem to make a coherent argument. Just berating others and emotional manipulation.

It is useful to remember that there are some people that are so fully entrenched in the mantras that they cannot show any dissonance less their entire belief is also shaken.

heathspeedwell · 13/12/2021 17:18

I understand that some people think they are being 'kind' by pretending to believe people who use their penis to rape can be women.

But how is that kind to victims of rape like the 10 year old girl who was tortured by David Challenor? He raped and electrocuted that little girl for hours, and part of the thrill for him was wearing a dress and forcing her to refer to him by a female name.

If anyone thinks that child should have to refer to her rapist as 'she' then please explain why?

(For clarity, apparently Challenor only identifies as female part time, hence me using male pronouns for him, but he comes under the Stonewall definition of transwoman).

Because heath remember..... transitioned males supposedly never commit these crimes in the first place. And to mention them is hateful. Oh.... yes.... and they are probably 'not' trans in the first place is one we have seen frequently over on twitter and other platforms.

Once you understand the pressure that people have to maintain to stay in the 'kind' zone... you understand they can never admit a chink to their belief.

JellySaurus · 13/12/2021 17:39

Police Scotland requires no evidence or certification as proof of biological sex or gender identity other than a person’s self-declaration

"I'm innocent."
"I was nowhere near."
"I don't have a gun."
"I was raped."
"I'm a woman."

Interesting which statements Police Scotland requires no evidence for. Angry

ArabellaScott · 13/12/2021 17:41

Of course YANBU, OP.

Joisanofthedales · 13/12/2021 17:55

If you have or ever had a penis you are a man. Doesn't matter what you wear or what you take or how big your breast implants are and in this country rape means unwanted penetration by a penis so how can the Scots put that penis in a womens prison? Its woke gone mad.
I do wonder how many of these people would live in Saudi Arabia or other similar countries where women are treated appallingly. Zero maybe.

Pieceofpurplesky · 13/12/2021 18:16

Reading the Twitter threads there are a few trans women who have supported JKR. These are older women who have been trans for many years and have no doubt suffered abuse for years. They understand what she is saying and why - so why is it so difficult for others?
JKR's point is important to both women and trans women - it's not a trans issue but a male self ID rapist issue. Woke trans supporters need to learn the difference.
I hear it day in day out at school, kids who think feminists hate trans people. I wonder where everything came so mixed up.

Ericaequites · 13/12/2021 18:24

The are women born women who sexually abuse other women. They are rare, but exist.

If you have a dick, you aren’t a chick. .Even a five year old unsullied by Stonewall propaganda understands that. I’m a TERF lesbian who feels the gay rights movement has passed me by.

DottyHarmer · 13/12/2021 18:39

Can I understand, please, if John rapes Jane, but after arrest identifies as June, are they charged as John or June? Confused If someone is attacked by a trans person, I imagine that would be very rare, but an ordinary man seeing (or being advised to see) an opportunity to evade justice, not necessarily so rare….

Franca123 · 13/12/2021 18:43

The whole thing is mental from start to finish. But this is where Trans women are women inevitably takes us. I do not understand why people think it's OK to put these men in women's prisons. I loose sleep thinking about those poor women in prison with these men.

Helleofabore · 13/12/2021 18:53

DottyHarmer

Sorry to disabuse you of the notion, but there is no evidence that states a transitioned male commits sex crime at a rate less than the male category as a whole. Looking at prison stats, it might be even higher.

If you mean, because there is so few of them, well the number is growing every single year.

So, both may be true.

However it is transphobic to question the trans status of anyone. So, we have to believe these people are who they say they are. And trans people need to acknowledge that these people are who they say they are too and stop trying to reject them because they are an inconvenient truth.

June. And the person raped would have to refer to the rapist as 'she'. And not that rare it would appear.

Check out Maria Miller who was attacked by a trans woman, and in court the judge decided to punish Maria for her refusal to call her attacker 'she'.

Courts are already captured. And so are the journalists who have to stick to the police report saying these men are women. Oh yeah, the police are also captured. It is everywhere.

Changingtheweather · 13/12/2021 19:06

Read Christina Lamb’s “Our Bodies Their Battlefields” and tell me rape never has a social/ political dimension

It’s not a cheerful read.

SammyScrounge · 13/12/2021 19:09

In my wilder moments, I think that women have been plunged into another world where authority figures are in cahoots with malevolent pranksters to make these screaming unfunny jokes on us and call them progressive.

Yes. And it's insane the number of people who are complicit.

The MoJ, the police, the law profession, MPs, ministers, the judges, etc.

Terrifying.

baffledbunny · 13/12/2021 20:12

YANBU. It's frigging outrageous that the scottish police can be taken in this way. Have they not thought it through at all before they made this statement?!

In my view I believe the whole trans rights debate has been hijacked by misogynists/the incel brigade who hate women overall, and see this as another way of attacking us, and they don't particularly care about genuine trans people or their rights either, because they are making them look bad to others (shouting people down etc, doxing etc), and therefore causing them to lose the sympathy of potential supporters (such as non-trans women). It's a win-win for them to get us all fighting each other, and distracted from those getting into power. I wouldn;t be surprised if some of them turned out to be members of the Scottish Police...

There are plenty of people under the umbrella who want to erase women's boundaries. It's sadly not just Mras.
