I do worry though - we had a long car trip at the weekend and DD (13) reeled off a long list of reasons to hate JKR - this anti-debate approach seems to have a lot of traction with younger people.

It's interesting that while Rowling got a bit of crap when she spoke in favour of same sex marriage and Hermione being cast as black in the Cursed Child play, it was nothing compared to what she's been getting since she said that men can't become women, least of all just by saying they are. The fucking racists and homophobes are less threatening than the worst of this lobby.

Alas feelings of men are seen as more important. So a man who decides he is now a woman, even if he has a history of abuse and rape of women, has to be pandered too in case his feelings are hurt.
But the poor women who are now subject to his abuse have to suck it up or be called bigots.

It's so absurd, most right minded people think your bonkers when you tell them stuff like this. There is no way any decent person would think this is ok, it's so unbelievable.

Locking women in with a rapist so that they have no chance of getting away from him. That's what they are doing to female prisoners. The vast majority of women in prison have already been victims of male violence and are in there for non violent crimes. And that's without the further abuse of the rapists victim to call him she and her.

I think most people have no idea this is happening, but the vast majority would think it was batshit.

I'm not scared of males with genuine gender dysphoria. They tend to like women because they identify, even over-identify, with us and I would say are harmless. Plus I feel genuinely sorry for them because it must be awful to really believe you were born in the wrong body. I take my female body for granted most of the time, though I have, at times, resented it for causing me so much pain over the years. Ultimately though, I love being female, so I do feel for them!
The ones who scare me are the types you discuss- those who have used to the trans-agenda as an opportunity to act on their malevolence towards us! Now, a man who hates women can say he's a woman and have all sorts of opportunities to hurt and violate us and the trans-agenda has removed our protections. If he's in a fighting sport like MMA, he can batter women and not only not be punished for it, but praised and rewarded! It sickens me and makes my blood boil but also frightens me. It is not a phobia though because these sorts of perverted, malevolent men really are a danger to women!
We need to keep resisting and using our voices against it. Women in the legal professions need to defend the rest of us. Any woman who is for it needs to think about how she'd feel if it was her on the sharp end of this, or her daughter or grand-daughter! Men who love and respect their mothers, wives, daughters and sisters need to back us up!

Most people are under this impression. They think being trans still means wishing to inhabit a body of the opposite sex and are not aware that it now means that being an actual woman or man is simply a feeling, and the body isn't relevant.

Before I started reading the Feminist section on here I extremely naively assumed that all transwomen had had their penis removed. I thought that was the main 'thing' that made or allowed them to declare themselves as transwomen.

Now when I'm talking to friends and family about this, lots and lots of people assume the same. They're blissfully unaware, as I was, of self ID or the fact that no surgery is needed even for a Gender Recognition Certificate.

I don’t think the majority of the general public agree that in any situation all a man has to do is say “I identify as a a woman” and now he’s magically a woman, but speaking up against this nonsense gets you labelled a transphobe and bigot because the minority who do believe in it are extremely vocal.

I used to be fairly pro trans rights until I realised the damage and risk their belief system poses to women, and how any slight concern is met with hostility and abuse. I feel that as a lesbian I can’t even join any LGBT events or meet new LGBT friends because I’m going to be labelled a bigot for not agreeing with self ID and that “gender identity” is more important than biological reality.

Its utter fucking madness and worst still that so many people are ok with this bat shittery (judging by the Twitter responses to JKR). WTF have we become?
